The battlefield at Marineford can only be described in one word: Hell.
Yes, it resembled a living nightmare. Unlike the portrayal on TV, witnessing the grim reality of war firsthand was an entirely different experience. The cries of rage, hatred, and pain echoed continuously. Every minute, dozens of people from both sides fell, their blood and entrails saturating the hard ground, accompanied by severed limbs and lifeless bodies.
"Kill those damn pirates!"
"Annihilate the Marines!"
"Retrieve Ace! Cut off the heads of the dogs of the Celestial Dragons!"
Both sides hurled harsh insults while killing, tearing, and shooting at one another. Amidst this chaos, Nami surveyed the madness around her, her heart heavy with tension.
Just a few months ago, she had been an "ordinary" girl… well, not entirely ordinary, but still unaccustomed to the brutality of battle.
Yet she didn't hesitate to strike down anyone who attacked her. Her sword was stained with the blood of her victims, and it wouldn't dry anytime soon.
Swish!
"Ah!"
"My hand!"
"Curse you, woman!"
Nami sliced through a group of pirates attempting to assault her, hearing their curses before they succumbed.
"I could get used to this…" With each strike, the tension and hesitation in her heart faded. This was a battlefield, and hesitation only led to death.
She refused to disappoint her beloved Ren and would not let her former naivety cost her the happiness she had fought hard to achieve. Not after reuniting with the most important woman in her life; she had a family waiting for her and vowed not to fall in this battle.
Suddenly, as Nami was lost in thought, her Observation Haki warned her of imminent danger approaching.
She utilized Shave to dodge the attack aimed at her.
The attack was… rose petals!
It might seem absurd, but her Observation Haki had warned her about these rose petals! Nami sensed that if she were to take this blow, it would severely injure her.
The petals that missed their target struck a hapless Marine soldier, inflicting numerous wounds and claiming his life within seconds.
"So you can evade my 'Rose Rondo'... as expected from the little devil who defeated Brother Jozu." A deep voice emerged from a group of frozen Marines. In the next moment, several Marines fell, deep wounds evident on their bodies, quickly closing their eyes forever.
A tall man appeared elegantly, facing Nami, who quickly recognized him.
"The Fifth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Vista." Nami said, her voice revealing no fear, only pure killing intent.
Vista was a muscular man with a broad chest and dark skin. He sported a curly black mustache, a dark blue hat, and an earring in each ear. He wore a partially open dark blue shirt with a diamond pattern near the collar, revealing some of his hairy chest, along with a cape draped over his shirt and white gloves. He also wore light blue pants with a belt holding two sheaths for his swords, one on each side. He wielded a sword in each hand.
The intent to battle radiated from him as he cautiously regarded Nami.
"Who do you call a little devil?! You bastard!" Nami suddenly erupted in anger at Vista's words. She gripped her cursed sword tightly, coating it with Armament Haki, then slashed her sharp blade toward him.
Swish!!
Another bloody battle commenced.
...
Marineford Square was engulfed in chaos and destruction. Forces from both sides were falling, and flames rose into the sky. Amid this hell, Mikita moved gracefully among the rubble and bodies, keeping her focus on her target: Curiel, the Tenth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, who relentlessly fired his massive shells, shattering Marine ranks.
Previously, Mikita had been a professional killer, which allowed her to secure a solid position in the Baroque Works organization. Even though she had long abandoned that identity, her instincts as a killer remained active and had grown stronger.
Thus, Curiel, the Tenth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, was her target. He had caused significant problems for the Marines due to his extensive firing range, capable of annihilating large numbers in no time.
Curiel was a tall man with a muscular build, wearing ear coverings resembling headphones. Mikita didn't know if they were merely decorative or if these headphones helped him block out the noise of his explosives. He wore purple glasses and had a Whitebeard Jolly Roger tattoo on his chin.
He was wearing a large green sleeveless jacket over a purple shirt, along with camouflaged pants dotted with green and brown. A green hat with black stripes adorned his head. Two bazookas were strapped to his back, and he held two pistols in his hands, now using them to blow the Marines into pieces.
"Stay clean and quick, Mikita~," she whispered to herself, glancing briefly at Ren. When she saw him watching her with interest, her heart leaped with joy, but she tried to focus on the enemy in front of her.
Mikita paused for a moment, contemplating how to approach an opponent armed with two guns and skilled in their use. However, she was confident because she possessed a unique weapon: the Kiro Kiro no Mi Devil Fruit, which allowed her to change her weight at will.
"I don't see any signs of Haki on his weapons..." she murmured as she lightly descended to the ground. In an instant, she reduced her weight to one kilogram, enabling her to move with astonishing speed through the pirates and Marines, avoiding detection by her prey.
*Boom!*
*Bang!*
*Bang!*
Curiel was unaware of Mikita's presence; he was preoccupied with firing at groups of Marines. His massive projectiles exploded, shattering both the ground and the bodies of the Marines, while Mikita approached stealthily like an almost invisible bird. She planned to get close and launch a surprise attack. But suddenly, Curiel felt something behind him and turned around quickly.
"Huh? Who's there?!" he shouted, firing a shell directly at Mikita's location.
"Observation Haki, huh..." Despite her surprise, Mikita was quick enough to dodge the explosion, using her light weight to leap into the air like a feather. When she was directly above Curiel, she made her decisive move.
"Have you ever had 10,000 kilograms of weight on you?!" Mikita shouted with a crazy grin on her face, suddenly increasing her weight to 10,000 kilograms.
"What?!" Curiel exclaimed in confusion as his Observation Haki warned him of the impending danger.
In that critical moment, Haki manifested in his hands, crossing them to form an X shape.
His level of Haki didn't allow him to protect every part of his body, so he had no other option.
All of this happened in just a few seconds; Mikita fell from the sky like a massive meteor, her body entirely covered in Armament Haki, directing her heavy attack toward Curiel. She struck the ground with tremendous force, causing a massive explosion of debris around them. Curiel felt immense pressure on his body as he struggled to push Mikita away, but the crushing weight exceeded his strength.
"What is this madness?!" he yelled as he strained against the pressure.
Mikita, bearing down on him with her massive weight, seized the moment and suddenly reduced her weight back to one kilogram, allowing her to move unexpectedly fast. She jumped away from Curiel before he could react, rolling lightly across the ground.
"Ugh!! My hands!!" Curiel's desperate scream caught the attention of Whitebeard and many others. Even Vista, who was fiercely battling Nami, couldn't help but lose focus upon hearing Curiel's piteous cry.
"Curiel!" Marco shouted in disbelief when he saw both of Curiel's hands completely broken.
"Captain!"
"Hang in there, Captain!"
While his crew rushed to his aid, angry and intent on killing Mikita, she laughed maniacally and decided to end the show.
"Kyahahaha~ die!" She lightened her weight and quickly reached Curiel, who was only a few meters away. With her signature smile, she coated her finger in Haki and aimed for Curiel's heart without hesitation.
"Finger Gun!"
She screamed with a mad expression as she thrust her Haki-coated finger into Curiel's chest, no, precisely into his heart...
Curiel stared at Mikita with wide eyes filled with shock and hatred before closing his eyes for the last time and collapsing onto the hard ground, dead.
"Captain!"
"Impossible... the captain... the captain is dead!"
"I remember this woman! She's Mikita from the Sin Crew, a subordinate of Black Death!"
Various voices spread across the battlefield, including joyous Marines celebrating the fall of an enemy who had taken many of their comrades' lives, as well as the mourning cries of Curiel's crew.
"My dear son... forgive me," Whitebeard said in a low voice filled with pain. As a great pirate who had roamed the seas for decades, he knew that casualties were inevitable today, but it was still painful to watch his "sons" fall one after another.
The expressions of Marco and the other crew leaders were filled with anger and sorrow, but they couldn't do anything. Marco clashed with Admiral Kizaru, but he was no match for him and was quickly subdued. With a face full of resentment, he returned to Whitebeard's side.
"Bops... we can't keep going like this," Marco said sadly.
Whitebeard looked at him and commanded, "Marco, go help your brothers. Try to save as many as you can and free Ace. I will follow you to the battlefield soon."
Upon hearing this, Marco's expression changed, and he quickly replied, "But, Pops, your injury—"
"Don't worry about me, brat . Now go kick some Marine butts!"
Marco could only nod his head in resignation before returning to the battlefield.
Curiel's death at Mikita's hands elevated her reputation, as the battle and its outcome were broadcast live. Although he was considered one of the weaker commanders of Whitebeard, he was still a captain. Mikita's effortless victory made her strength enigmatic to both the Marines and the pirates, as well as the civilians watching the legendary war on the giant Shabondi screens.
In the Sabaody Archipelago, reporters were busily documenting everything happening in this war. Regardless of the outcome, they knew a significant scoop and endless news awaited them for publication!
Back at Marineford:
"Doesn't a skilled swordsman like you know you shouldn't lose focus in the midst of battle?" Nami's sarcastic voice reached Vista, who was still in shock from Curiel's death. His Observation Haki had warned him of the imminent danger, but it was too late!
"One Sword Style: Thunder God Blade!"
A surge of Armament's Haki wrapped around Nami's cursed sword with insane power. In the next second, a fierce blue lightning appeared, engulfing the sword, emerging from Nami's body out of nowhere. Anyone familiar would know this was the terrifying power of a Logia fruit.
Nami was using the Goro Goro no Mi in her fight once again!
"!!!"
Vista's instincts screamed in fear, warning him to flee from this attack, but everything was happening too quickly.
Nami swung her sword towards Vista, unleashing a wave of energy and destructive blue lightning that demanded his life.
"Ah..." Everything seemed to slow down for Vista as he crossed his swords in a desperate final attempt to block Nami's attack.
Boom!!
Crash!!
Rumble!!
The deafening sound of thunder echoed throughout Marineford, and both sides quickly realized who was responsible: none other than Nami, wielder of the Goro Goro no Mi.
Nami gazed at the cloud of dust that replaced Vista and narrowed her eyes as she activated her Observation Haki to assess the outcome of her attack.
