Max was sure that he had done well. He smiled and handed the paper to the receptionist.
The receptionist was shocked when she saw his smile. She expected him to cry or get scared, not to be happy. She snatched the paper from him and scanned the answers. She was even more shocked when she saw that he had answered every question correctly. She couldn't believe it. She thought that he must have cheated somehow.
She accused him of cheating and shouted at him. She said that an idiot like him could not solve the paper, and that he must have copied the answers from somewhere. She said that he should be punished and that she would call the guards. She looked at him with an evil smile, hoping to see him scared and begging for mercy.
But Max was not scared or begging. He was calm and composed. He knew that he had not cheated, and that he had nothing to fear. He told her that he had solved the paper by himself, and that he had studied hard to become a merchant. He asked her why she had given him such a hard test, and if she had something against him.
The receptionist was speechless. She didn't know how to answer him. She had given him the hard test to take revenge on him, not expecting him to pass it. She had no proof that he had cheated. She had just judged him by his appearance, and she had been wrong.
The commotion attracted the attention of the branch manager, who entered the test room. He asked everyone to be quiet, and he asked the receptionist what was going on. The receptionist tried to lie and said that Max had cheated in the test and that he had scored full marks. She hoped that the manager would believe her and punish Max.
But the manager didn't believe her. He took the paper and looked at it. He was angry when he saw that it was a paper for a high-level merchant, not a beginner. He asked the receptionist why she had given him such a paper, and if she had done it on purpose. The receptionist said that she had given him the paper by mistake, but the manager didn't buy it.
He realized that she had given him the paper to make fun of him, and that she had been biased and rude to him. He decided to fire the receptionist for her misconduct and unprofessionalism. He apologized to Max for her behavior, and he praised him for his amazing performance. He said that he would try to give him a rank as high as he could, and that he was welcome to join the guild.
The manager could only give Max a rank D, as the branch of Sky High City was not a big branch that could directly give high ranks. But Max was happy with his rank. He was happy that he had passed the test, and that he was able to take revenge on the receptionist . He was happy that the manager had treated him with respect and kindness. He thanked the manager and took his merchant card. He went out of the Merchant Guild, ready to start his journey as a merchant. He smiled and looked at the sky, feeling hopeful and excited.
Max was thrilled to join the merchant guild.
He wandered around the stalls, marveling at the items on display. He saw weapons made from monster body parts, such as claws, teeth, horns, and scales. He saw potions and scrolls that contained powerful spells. He saw jewelry and ornaments that sparkled with enchantments.
He decided to open a stall of his own, hoping to sell some of the items he had brought from his original world. He found a small spot near the main market and set up his table. He displayed his goods, which looked mundane to him, but fascinating to the locals.
He showed them paper, which was a rare and expensive material in this world, where most people used parchment or leather. He explained how paper was made from wood pulp and how it could be used for writing, drawing, or printing.
He showed them glasses, which were also uncommon in this world, where most people used metal or wood for cups and containers. He told them how glass was made from sand and how it could be shaped and colored in different ways. He also showed them his spectacles, which he used to correct his vision. He demonstrated how glass could bend light and magnify objects.
He showed them cloth material, which was different from the fabrics they were used to. He had brought cotton, silk, and wool from his world, which had different textures and qualities than the local linen, hemp, and fur. He explained how cloth was woven from fibers and how it could be dyed and decorated.
He attracted a lot of curious customers, who were eager to buy his items. He sold them at high prices, knowing that they were rare and valuable in this world. He made a lot of profit and gained a reputation as a clever and adventurous merchant. He was happy and proud of his success. As he saw the system panel showing his wealth 500golds he was able to increase his wealth 5 times in just a day.
It was already the night time so he decided to go to the place where zakar the dwarf invited him Ron had already gone to that place while Max was giving the test for the merchant guild
When Max reached the inn and opened the door there he saw a bunch of different species all in one place drinking and enjoying, he was suddenly grabbed from behind he thought it was a robber but it was zakar he was very excited to see him zakar was totally drunk all other travellers were also sitting there on a table.
As max sat down on the table they asked him to tell how did his exam go Max told and the whole story they all got very angry at the receptionist and cursed her but they were still in shock that Max could easily solve a test made for high level merchant.
Max with a prideful look said that it was just an easy paper. Everyone laughed after hearing those words it was a cheerful environment Max was happy that he was able to make such nice friends and this new world he showed them is D rank card
Everyone there was happy for them zakar grabbed a big jar of wine and toasted a drink for Max and give us speech saying that he was happy to meet such a interesting man and also told everyone that he became a D rank merchant today everyone in the inn congratulated him
Max got a little shy after hearing those words as his whole life he had never heard words of praises everyone only scold him or make fun of him but in this world he was actually able to make friends and hear the words of praises and that in this world he has friends who he could rely on..
As the party ended everyone went inside there own room when Ron was going back to his room he mistakenly opened the wrong door what he saw shocked him
