Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 6

XAVIER'S POV.

"No, that's unfair. She will die!" Tafe, my wolf, protested as I instructed Scarlet to fetch the blue book for me.

I've been locked up for eighteen years in the human world. I wanted the Blue book to clear my doubts and seek revenge on my brothers and everyone who betrayed me during those times.

It's barely been a week since I returned to the pack. Seeing Eliot and Addison's faces made me cringe and feel nauseous simultaneously. How could they brush aside eighteen years and pretend nothing had happened? My son is twenty now, and he never got to see or grow up with his father.

Yes, I mean his biological father.

My wife remarried Eliot. Sounds ironic, right?

A lot happened during those eighteen years, and I can't just let it go.

It all began when I turned twenty-five. Eliot, who was twenty-seven at the time, was the boss of the Fedele mafia family. I took the position of Underboss since I was next in line and his half-brother.

Growing up in the pack was hell. We had to endure humiliation from Eliot and his mother. My mom was just an omega with no status, but the Alpha found solace with her. Since then, she's been labeled a slut, and I, the son of a slut.

I wasn't power-hungry; all I wanted was a peaceful life with my mom. But one fateful day, months after my dad's death, Eliot assumed the boss position and summoned me to his chambers with a confidential order.

...….THROWBACK…

"I want you to infiltrate the human world," he said, his gaze fixed on me.

His words caught me off guard, and when I made a sound, he scolded me with a single word, "Omerta!"

In mafia jargon, it meant silence. I quickly covered my mouth, understanding the gravity, as he swiftly locked the door and secured the windows in case someone was listening.

"Why should I go there?" I couldn't help but let my curiosity surface. I'd always admired him, looking up to him as an inspiration. His rise to becoming the next Boss of the family was expected, given his known attributes of being ruthless and greedy. Even in our upbringing, he showed no fear in pulling the trigger, whether at school or the sacred pack church.

"I can't risk it," I muttered, knowing the wolf hunters were scouring our territories, ready to pull the trigger. We'd coexisted peacefully, but the harmony shattered when rogues breached the human territory. Since then, we were all considered intruders to be eliminated upon sight.

Reluctant at the idea of entering the human world, I dared to question, "What's your business there?" I knew he wouldn't reveal the truth. He was always secretive and unpredictable.

"Nothing serious, just amenities," he replied as if speaking under duress.

"Our neighboring packs are becoming bolder. We need more weapons, and I hope he provides them for you," he continued.

"Hope?" I exclaimed in surprise.

"How come? Didn't you have a deal with him?"

"Xavier, enough with the questions. I want to go visit him and acquire the stuff. I'll stay in touch through one of your men, probably Zane," he explained.

"I'll send the address and all the necessary details." He added with a loud yawn, opening the windows once more. I watched as he slouched onto the couch. Uncertainty filled my mind as I turned to leave, but his words stopped me in my tracks.

"Don't tell anyone."

As I made my way to my room, I encountered Addison, who provided everything necessary for the mission and gave me some explanations.

"Stay safe and return in one piece, brother," he bid me farewell before leaving my room for the night.

Confusion enveloped me. They wanted me to depart that night and sneak into the human world. How was I supposed to cross the river tonight? What if reptiles attacked me?

The thought made my breathing shallow and rapid, but I gathered myself and swiftly mind-linked Zane, my childhood friend and current butler.

He was a unique Werewolf, possessing Phoenix bloodline abilities that allowed him to shapeshift into anything he desired.

"Come over!" I mind-linked him, my voice brimming with urgency.

"Damn it! Give me a break, dude! I was about to cum into one of these bitches pussy," he scolded. I let out a loud sigh, knowing how erratic he could be at times.

"I need you now. I'll be leaving in the next hour."

"To where?" he asked nonchalantly.

"The human world."

"What?! Hu ?! I'm on my way," he stuttered in surprise.

However, after a couple of minutes, he was inside his room as a cat and swiftly shifted back to normal.

"Where the hell did you say you're going?"

"Confidential order," I sneered while packing my stuff.

"Does the consort know?" he furrowed his brows, still unable to grasp what I was saying. I didn't say a word; I didn't want my mom to know. Besides, it was a confidential mission from the Boss who was the Alpha king.

I kept in touch with Zane and headed for the address. I almost got killed. If it had been a regular werewolf, they might have shot me in the chest. But I masked my scent and made it hard for the humans to recognize me.

I arrived at the designated location, only to find the man already murdered, lying in a pool of his own blood. He was slaughtered in cold blood, but one thing puzzled me.

The marks indicated the involvement of a werewolf. A werewolf was behind the murder. However, before I could piece together which pack of werewolves might be responsible—given my familiarity with each pack's distinct bites and marks—the door suddenly slammed open.

It was the human cops, shining bright lights at me and pointing numerous guns in my direction.

Standing there, staring blankly, they handcuffed me and demanded I get a lawyer.

A few days later, I was convicted and charged with murder. I was stamped to be imprisoned for eighteen years, spending that time in a human prison for something I had no knowledge of.

As time passed, Zane informed me that Eliot had taken over my wife and refused to assist me in returning from the human world, even if it meant breaking in.

I remained imprisoned, and I'm now certain I have Lupus—an infection that occurs when you haven't shifted for an extended period. But that wasn't my primary concern; what shattered me further was the consort's death.

My mom passed away longing to see me one last time, but I couldn't even bid her farewell. The truth is, my brothers betrayed me.

........

...….

"Don't send her to Eliot, he wouldn't hesitate to kill her!" My wolf persisted angrily, but I sighed as I watched Scarlet leave my presence.

He wasn't lying. After spending eighteen years in a human prison, I had let go of all emotions. But there was something about Scarlet that drew me to her.

I wasn't certain if it was just the wolf bond, but either way, she's everyone's mate, and I'll use her to manipulate them and gain control.
