Alex moved closer to me. At this close distance, I just need to reach out my hand a little to be able to touch him. Unfortunately I couldn't. He stood very close to me, but there was an invisible membrane between us that made me not dare to approach him.
From the moment I decided to leave him, I no longer had the right to be near him.
I involuntarily took a step back. bewildered.
Alex didn't move forward anymore.
"Tell me why you know me. There isn't too much information on the internet about me. My photos on the internet are all photos taken with many people. Moreover, I rarely attend parties like this. Tell me, How can you claim I'm Alex?" He stared at me with a sharp look as if to warn me not to deceive him.
"I... I'm just guessing!" I hesitated.
When I met him, I was both happy and worried at the same time. I had dreamed about him many times and had also imagined the scene of us meeting many times. Even just imagining it, I couldn't keep my composure. The desire to sleep peacefully in his arms made me cry many times.
He stood in front of me but he didn't remember me anymore. This made my heart suffocate. But perhaps forgetting someone who did not deserve his love was the favor that God had given him.
While I was still confused Alex curled his lips then approached me, he leaned slightly so that his mouth was close to my ear then used a volume just enough for the two of us to hear and speak. "Don't be so tense!"
From an outsider's point of view, we seemed quite intimate, but his words left me dumbfounded. He stood right in front of me but he was so strange, I couldn't even guess what he meant.
Did he not lose his memory or did he simply not want anyone to know about our relationship? He said if we met again, he would consider me a stranger. Maybe he's doing what he said in the past.
"I… I…" I said hesitantly, not daring to look him in the face.
I was a bit hesitant at first but then I regained my composure. Although I made a mistake with him in the past, I didn't regret it.
If this meeting was an arrangement of fate, I would face it with the most calm attitude.
"Alex, she's definitely a big fan of yours and has learned a lot about you. How can someone like her know you?" The girl next to Alex interjected.
Although I was very unhappy when she used a sarcastic tone to emphasize the word "someone like her", but as long as she could help me get out of here, I would keep quiet and let her say anything she wanted.
Alex looked at me silently, then he suddenly burst out laughing.
"Even if you don't know me but just a fan of mine, please stay here and join this party with me." Alex said sweetly.
Before I could reply, the girl next to Alex couldn't help but speak up.
"She's just an ordinary girl, she shouldn't appear at this party, if she does, she was only a servant." She said contemptuously.
Alex ignored the girl and kept holding my hand, waiting for me to speak.
I didn't understand what he wanted. If he lost his memory, a high-statusman like him shouldn't hold on to a girl he just met like me.
Was he just pretending to lose his mind and want to take this opportunity to insult me or at least make me feel regret for giving up a man with a bright future like him.
"I'm really honored to accept your invitation, but unfortunately I have work to do so I can't stay here!" I bit my lip.
After finishing my sentence, I turned around to leave, but my hand was held by a strong hand.
I turned my head to face his deep gaze.
"Stay here, it will be good for you." Alex smiled.
Although his attitude was very gentle, his voice contained a coldness that made others not dare to refuse.
Everyone was silent, even the girl beside Alex did not dare to speak. He looked at me, eyes like sharp knives. I felt an invisible pressure on me that prevented me from acting recklessly.
At this moment, I felt that Alex had completely changed. Everyone here must observe his attitude to act. They were afraid of his anger, his anger would have serious consequences.
He really had become the one he should be.
Alex was still holding my hand in front of so many people's eyes. If I didn't agree to stay, maybe he wouldn't let go.
I shook my head vigorously, struggling to get out of Alex's grip.
"We're not the same type of people, it's best that we don't have any contact." I lowered my voice.
Even if I had to lose this job, I wouldn't be able to stay here. I had endured the ridicule of so many people, but I didn't want to be weak and disheveled in front of him.
Alex didn't give me what I wanted. When I was about to run away, he immediately grabbed my hand, preventing me from leaving.
He pulled my hand once, and I fell into his arms.
Everyone silently watched Alex's actions, only the girl beside Alex gritted her teeth in displeasure.
"She's just an ordinary girl, she doesn't even have a luxury item on her body, she deliberately lured you, don't let her fool you." She said indignantly.
Alex didn't speak, but glanced at her, his gaze so sharp that it made not only her but everyone present at this party tremble.
Five years on, I was still as sleazy as ever but Alex has become completely different. He really stood on the top of glory looking down at people who were struggling for work like me with a disdainful eye.
I continued to struggle while Alex tried to hold on, the two of us lingered for a long time until Alex noticed he had acted improperly in front of many people.
"Sorry!" He said and let me go.
I shook my head. "I'm OK."
Right after that, I ran away from the party, my tears involuntarily falling. I used to think that I had calmly faced everything, but actually I was not as strong as I thought. The past was always a huge wound that I couldn't find a way to erase.
