Before we headed out, I said to joyle "little Joyle here take this." As I gave her the little dagger I found. Woden said "oh yeah I forgot to mention, that dagger's name is 'Elliot'. Later if and when you are in danger, try saying Elliot flash and it'll release a flash bang over a radius of 3 Km blinding anything in the vicinity and at the same time it can work as a 'save me' beacon."
All I could say was "thanks woden, also I'll be taking this sword since having this is better than going empty handed."
He didn't refuse so we headed out. It was 10am in the morning and the sun was already scorching the lands and no undead to be seen anywhere. I figured they wouldn't wanna be under this sun unlike us. I covered joyle with a piece of ragged cloth which should protect her from too much sunlight while chreshield protected Arthold with her body from the heat. Though something that bothered me was that I never heard Arthold cry at all. Then the reverberations began and the entire island shook and not just the palace. We headed towards the palace and before entering I refilled my battery magic with the dragon blood. Good stuff and strong enough for me to materialize.
Then as we slowly sneaked in with me in the lead, why'd I have to be in the lead when I'm still weaker than chreshield, I don't know. The palace was the same quite literally. Nothing had changed yet the entire palace shook, we slowly started hearing roars. It was probably the werewolf and the chimera but why were they shaking up the place this much.
Even with all this rumbling and shaking, none of the pillars moved or fell down considering this place is 500 years old.
Then we entered a very large hall with its roof torn off and lying aside as if someone large enough opened it up like a box, it was probably the dragon. In the center of this massive area stood a skeleton fighting against the werewolf and chimera.
The werewolf kept jumping from side to side trying to slash at the piece of skeleton but was simply blocked through the use of a mana barrier. This mana barrier seemed to have complete physical defense and I had only seen one person use that on the battle field and that'd be the kind of pancratia himself 'Rathore Pancratius'. His physical defense was of the top to the point he could march against an army all by himself and suffer no damage. A single blow from him could wipe out the entire army and now if that same guy has turned into a necromancer, he has an army at disposal while being able to fight at the front lines, the greatest offense and defense but it wasn't possible. Pancratia being 'dragon gifted' had the blessing of full immunity of the undead and any form of dark magic which also prevented them from practicing such rituals is impossible.
At current time, while the werewolf kept slashing at the skeleton, the chimera jumped around spraying what I think is oil and fire. Though the skeleton did seem to be impervious to their attacks something was wrong. Then suddenly the ground erupted all around them and more skeletons started rising up and these ones looked visibly more dangerous than the one that summoned them yet everything seemed so in sync as if it were a dance practiced at least 100 times.
The werewolf kept slashing while the chimera burnt the skeletons, then suddenly a huge skeleton broke out from the ground digging its way and slowly forming out to be a giant. It was definitely not human, it wore knuckle dusters and with its wide reach, it swept across the field decimating its own skeleton allies while missing the werewolf and chimera by inches.
Then the werewolf roared and it grew bigger, that was an unusual skill that you didn't get to see a lot. Werewolves are technically predators who don't hunt for anything other than its prey but when faced with being stronger than itself, it'll use its one and only skill other than its physical prowess.
Werewolves gain power during full moons and during the day are weak to the point where even a normal adventurer could kill it yet this werewolf seemed to be growing stronger. Everything was different from the knowledge I know.
After the werewolf used its energy to use gigantification, it fought toe to toe with the massive skeleton but the skeleton kept its distance while jabbing at the werewolf with its knuckledusters. A single scratch from that skeleton would most probably decimate all of us yet the werewolf was taking care of it with ease.
I shielded us from the debris using the little energy I had regained. If I stepped in now, I'd definitely be squashed. Then the giant skeleton was finally taken down piece by piece as the werewolf undid its gigantification. All this time the necromancer skeleton kept summoning more and more undead which were being deflected by the chimera.
This fight continued till evening as the werewolf and chimera finally seemed to be getting tired. The sun started to set but the number of undead being summoned was very slow as compared that in the afternoon.
We passed by unnoticed as then suddenly, a huge wave spread across the island as if an explosion had happened, then as if by ripple effect a few more waves originated from where the skeleton necromancer stood.
Then the necromancer started walking after all this time of simply standing and summoning undead monsters, it headed back towards the other side of the hall and sat on the throne. The throne was actually nothing special with no precious stones attached like normal emperors or kings did but then I realized that the throne of the king of Pancratius was made from the bones of their ancestors so as to support the entire kingdom in their future endeavors though ironically here it stood decimated.
But at that moment when it sat, I saw the soul of the Rathore Pancratius himself in all his glory standing there and looking at the night sky while the werewolf and chimera shrunk into a dog with black fur as dark as the night sky but with the absence of stars and a cat the fur of the autumn leaves but its tail was still a snake.
What I didn't expect was for Joyle to step up and scream "hello" at them.
