Chapter 24 - Book 1: Chapter 23: New Legions and New Problems

Once Sifir left City Lord main hall and was being escorted by the same young city guard who brought him there. The only thing the young city guard was thinking about was how high the token this masked youth had. An old saying in the cultivation world is to be wary of people who look young. Because they could be old monosters in disguise. When both of them were getting closer to exiting the mansion, Sifir stopped and looked at the young city guard.

"What is your name?" Sifir is looking at the young city guard.

"My name is Saint Chase." As the young city guard ponders why this high-level Midnight clan is asking such a question.

"Mhmm.. Your talent is good for your age. So, let me ask you this: Why do you stay here?" Sifir had a very intense look.

"Where am I supposed to go? With you? A high-level Midnight clan who don't dare to show his face?" Saint Chase had a slight distaste on his face.

"hahahaha." Sifir wipes away imaginary tears from his black mask. "You are bold, quite honest, and wear your emotions on your sleeves. However, you lack resources to grow faster."

"And you want me to join you or the Midnight clan and be another cog in your machine?"

"I do want you to join me, but I am not going to beg you either. There are way too many talents in this world to beg. Plus, currently I am on mission, and I won't be able to take care of you."

"You are telling me you can't protect me when I cause trouble or am in trouble. In addition, I would only be in your name until you come back from this mission."

"Correct."

"What is the point of leaving the City Lord then?"

"Who said you had to leave the city, Lord? Not I."

"Hold up? You mean I can... "

"Yes. You can grow in silence until I summon you."

"Can I think about this?"

"Yes. I will be leaving this city sometime tomorrow. I will be the inn across the City Lord Estate. If you agree to join me, burn this." Sifir tapped his dimensional pouch and pulled out a thin piece of paper that had a unique symbol.

"Mhmmm... And what will happen when I burn this?"

"It will band you with a unique marker, letting me know that you have joined. Choose wisely."

Sifir continues to walk out of the estate while Saint Chase just stares at Sifir's back. Saint Chase had a lot to think about and the opportunity that Sifir laid out for him. 'Let me really think about this. There is no such thing as a free lunch.' Who would have known that Sifir was still young and growing into a powerful cultivator? Among many things, Sifir still needs to experience the world and the teachings of humans and beasts alike.

As soon as Sifir walked out of the City Lord Estate and saw the rest of Unit 04. Jagged looks like he too got a couple more lumps from the City Lord guards. Sifir could only laugh to himself because the City Lord really made sure Jagged remembered this beating. In the meantime, Purple Night and Death Sword were chit-chatting about what their next move was after leaving the City Lord Estate.

"Little Night, what took so long coming out of the City Lord Estate?"

"I had to straighten a few things out and agree to a certain request from the City Lord. In addition, for some reason the City Lord really wanted to kill Jagged." Sifir looked at Jagged with no pity.

"Hmph. Jagged Love creates mess everywhere he goes. So, it's only natural he creates enemies wherever he goes. One would say Jagged is more immature than you, Fall Night." Death Sword said with awe-inspiring coldness.

"I see you took my advice seriously and made a breakthrough to the peak of the human realm. It might only take you another 2 or 3 more months to break into the initial earth realm with how fast you're moving with your cultivation. I will not be a babysitter, or I am willing to put my life on hold to save you because your cultivation base is not up to par. I don't think to explain what you need to do right, Fall Night."

Sifir just nodded and said nothing. Patiently waiting for what their next move will be.

"Death Sword, when are we leaving?" Purple Night wondered.

"The plan was to leave tomorrow morning. However, I don't think the City Lord will let us leave that early. Most likely, we will have to leave in the afternoon. This will also allow us to gather any more items we need."

"Sound good, Death Sword. That will give some time for Jagged to heal from those lumps he receives from the city guard." Purple Night giggles in ecstasy for the Jagged Plight.

Sifir was looking at all this with a slight assumption and distain in his eyes. Never voicing out his thoughts and just waiting there. Purple Night and Death Sword both took notice of how Sifir looked at all this. Nodding in approval of staying silent and waiting for orders like a good dog. Jagged, on the other hand, was depressing and sour with how the city guard beat him with no regard. Jagged could only limp along for awhile, staying nothing but licking his wounds.

"We have less than 24 hours before we need this city. And make our way to Black Port City. This hasn't been the most effective used here for several reasons. We will not replenish until we get to our target destination. At nightfall we will meet at the inn we have agreed upon."

Everyone nodded after Death Sword finished speaking and went their separate ways, except for Death Sword and Jagged. Jagged could only sigh with helplessness being attached to Death Sword hip.

Sunchaser Territory, Rising Sun Prefecture, Brigh Region.

City of Sōl

In a room where maids and servants were looking at a young lady rolling around on the bed in agony and pain. This pain was bone-deep, and every cell in the body was screaming due to the overload and stress. One could only look with pity and sorrow. This person who was screaming in pain was none other than Judah.

Hearing footsteps coming to the room and maids and servants looking to see might come this time as their young Matriarch fight through the bitter backlash of Sōl taking over Judah's body.

"Matriarch Kyri." One maid spoke with nervousness in her voice.

"It has been about four days and three nights since the backlash started. Medic, has there been anymore internal injuries sustained from the backlash or cultivation suppression?"

"From the look of things. Young Matriarch will be done with backlash. The internal injuries from cultivation suppression are minor. She needs to rest for a few weeks. The backlash will need at least three months."

"Thank you, medic. You can take your leave. I don't need to do anything more, but let me give you some advice. Loose lips sink ships and everyone on board. " Kyri just stared at the old medic.

"This old medic understands. I will tell my leave, Matriarch."

Kyri only stares a bit longer at the old medic walking out of the room before she decides to leave as well. With baited breath, all the maids and servants left loose air they had held. The uneasiness in their eyes could tell the emotional rollercoaster they were on in the last few days.

As Kyri was walking to her main chamber to rest. These last few days and nights were absolutely not what she had forseen. However, this could be expected as Judah overburdened herself with Sol and endedurancing the pressure from Loaded. Who can be a peerless expert in his cultivation realm.?

Caught up in her own thoughts about what to do next. An attendant walks up and passes a sealed jade slip to her. Not realizing where Kyri was walking, the 1st elder of the counsels interrupted Kyri's thought process.

"This is definitely a surprise to see the old Matriarch Kyri roaming the elder wing. The irony is I was just about to look for you." The first elder had a cheeky grin on his face.

"Well, isn't 1st Elder Styles Wave. What matter do you bring up to me at this?"

"I am just going to cut to the chase, Matriarch. We, the elder counsel, were informed that the young matriarch was trying to create a new legion without discussion with us first."

"Let me guess, if it is true, this is a grand matter and can't be overlooked, right?"

"Yes."

"Since we are speaking frankly. Let's say it is true. There will be new legion that will be created. What you and elder counsel want to know is how many young talents are being allocated for this new legion, right?"

"Also, correct."

"Let me say this now, 1st Elder Styles Wave. There might be more surprises than this. I haven't gathered all the information yet. However, I am no longer the matriarch of SunChaser. You must talk to the new Matriarch Judah." Kyri said in a somewhat mocking tone.

Styles Wave frowns a little bit after hearing what Kyri said. He was a little surprised by the boldness Kyri spoke to him. However, he was more shocked at how quickly Judah, the new matriarch of the clan, was moving. Wasting no time in implementing her plan for the clan and their talent. As an elder who had a good amount of influence on elder counsel. He won't allow an upstart to dictate what will happen inside the Sunchaser.

"I see. So where is the young Matriarch right now?"

"Resting. We just came back from our trip, and she is recovering from some injuries. I had already spoken with the medic in charge; Judah will need a few more days of rest."

"What?!?! How did the young Matriarch get hurt on the way back?"

"You see, 1st Elder Styles Wave, that is a question you need to ask Judah herself. I think you will be interested in what you will or will not hear from her." Kyri said in a chastising tone.

"Is that so? Matriarch, you all know what I am asking. So, you can stop playing Coy if you don't know. We, the elders, should know that you and Judah have visited both Midnight and the Night clan." You could hear the annoyances in the 1st elder voice.

Before Kyri could respond to the Styles Wave. Another attendant came up to Kyri and passed another jade slip. This time, it was from the Night clan. When the 1st elder looks at this, his eyes sharpen into narrow slits.

"Matriarch, I have been looking for you. This just arrived from the Night clan."

"Thank you. You can leave now. Me and the 1st elder some other things to talk about."

The attendant bowed slightly and immediately left the elder wing. Styles Wave turned to Kyri after the attendant left. "1st elder Styles Wave, I will take my leave as well. There will be much to discuss with the Judah." Kyri left immediately as well. Now leaving a stun Styles Wave on how quickly Kyri left the elder wing.

"Something feels off with Kyri."

As soon as Kyri felt Styles Wave and while no one was around. She looked at both jade slips in her hands with a slight amazement at how quickly both the Night and Midnight clans responded. 'Could it be because of Sol pressure and threats? And what outer threats could Sol be talking about? The more I think about it. The more questions I have.'

Kyri sent out her senses into both jade slips. Kyri's hand started shaking with excitement and the pure temor of a new legion that will now be created under Judah. Both the Night and Midnight clans had their own conditions. Those were small matters at the moment. The only question that was on Kyri's mind was where they were going to pull talents from the main branch of the clan.

One answer would be pulling the most talented out of the branch clan and forces under their control. Or they could pull the lowest talents out of the main branch of the clan and see what they could do if they had a chance. Kyri was thinking of possible scenarios. One issue that needed to be addressed is when will Judah be able to finalize on legion.

After a few hours dealing with matters inside the SunChaser clan, Kyri went back to Judah's room. Seeing the same medic from before Kyri moved quickly. Both of them had quick discussions about the current condition of Judah.

"Matriarch, we have some good news. The backlash has ended, and the young Matriarch is currently resting. She should be able to recover in two or three weeks."

"That is good. I have many things to talk about with her. What else can you tell me about her condition?"

"Yes, Matriarch. It will take about three months for the young matriarch to gain her full strength. That is my roughest estimation based on what we know currently."

"That is fine. There are many things that can be rushed. This is not one of them. Keep me in the loop, and if anyone asks about Judah, tell them he is fine and resting from our long trip."

"Yes, Matriarch. I will follow your order." The medic left the room, and Kyri just stared at him with a cold glare. 'Since Judah is recovering, this is a good chance for me to increase my influence as well.' Just as Kyri left Judah's room, the 5th elder personal attendant walked over.

"Hello, Matriarch Kyri." The 5th elder personal attendant did a slight bow. "My master has requested you to come to the counseling main room for a few questions."

"That is funny; I just spoke to 1st elder about 3 hours ago. Tell your master, I will be there soon after I take care of a few things."

"My master did expect that answer. He told me to tell you this: Please bring the young Matriarch with you as well."

"That won't be possible since Judah is recovering right now. However, I will still be there." A cold laugh came out of Kyri, and the 5th elder personal attendant felt a cold sweat on his back.

"I understand; I will tell my master." The 5th elder personal attendant left Kyri quicky. He feared that Kyri would make another silent threat. For one who loves his own life, why would he deal with a heartless woman.?

Kyri just walks away, thinking to herself, 'Those old foggies do move fast."
