Chapter 14 - Book 1: Chapter 13: Treasures and Trades

Calling it a night for both Sifir and Purple Night. Before the sunset, they found a decent inn that was three stories tall. It wasn't the best, but it also wasn't the worst place one could sleep for the night. In the same room, Sifir and Purple Night look over their gains from the street market. Purple Night was able to gather a lot more materials for talisman crafting and the array's formations.

For Sifir, he was able to gather a few new skills and techniques to add to his already impressive arsenal of moves. This took Purple Night by surprise a little bit. All the skills and techniques that Sifir acquired were unranked and have no grade as well. On top of that, Sifir traded away the majority of the ferocious beasts that he killed in the Misty Rain Forest. The few things that Sifir was promised by tomorrow morning.

Were new cloaks that were made of golden bear cub-thick fur with the inside lining with the young emerald king snake scales. In addition, Sifir was promised a new shirt made with another young emerald king snake scales as well.

Probably Sifir's most impressive gain was an old tatter book called Profound Heavenly Tool of Body Refinement. Since the owner of the shop only allowed Sifir to quickly look over the technique and method, even if Sifir could not use it now, he might be able to use it later or just give it to the Midnight clan.

When Sifir opens up the tatter book, the first page displays a simple rune diagram and method of creating it. A profound formation and ancient runes were displayed close to the middle of the book, along with their methods and theories. The small tatter book started from the simplest formation of runes and diagrams to very deep and complex diagrams, runes, and locking arrays to increase body strength.

The most impressive part of the book was the last page. The Integrated Nine Extreme Elements allow the user to use any object, from mountains to blades of grass, for the nine objects to be infused into their body. The restriction is that once you pick an object, it starts to be infused into your body. The user can't change the object they picked.

For example, if a practitioner of this body-formation technique uses a blade of grass, that same user must find eight more grass types to infuse into their body. If the practitioner wants to start over, they must cripple their own cultivation and start from scratch. That was the danger of using this kind of cultivation technique. However, if the user found nine priceless grass-type treasures, the increase in power would be unbelievable.

Purple Night took a peek at what Sifir was able to find in that old shop she overlooked. Her heart was pounding like two animals in the middle of the heat, and they were going at it relentlessly until one of them surrendered.

"Fall night, let me have that book. It would be a waste in your hands."

"Hmm. What are you willing to give me for it, Purple Night?"

"Your life? Are you allowed to keep your cultivation base? Are you allowed to drink my bath water? What honor is it for you, Fall Night?" Purple Night said it in a mocking tone. Not taking Sifir seriously at all.

"Who would want to drink your bath water? That sounds horrible." Sifir tilted his head to the side after making that comment, and Purple Night had black lines covering her face. Even so, she wouldn't drink her own bath water.

"Outside of this, is this a command, Purple Night?"

Purple Night paused for a second. She clearly remembers how Death Sword and Jagged tried to command Sifir to hand over something. Even Sifir took what he wanted, or he destroyed it. For something like this, the item that Sifir held in his hand was probably priceless.

"What do you want for Fall Night?" Purple Night said it dryly.

"What do you have for Purple Night? And no, I don't want any materials that I clearly can't use either." Sifir replied smoothly.

"Tsk… If I were kidding about you being a petty man, you really are petty." Purple Night said frostily.

"Purple Night, are you really that mad? Because I am not willing to suffer a loss to you or anyone? I am not petty at all. I know you have some good stuff on you." Sifir shrugged while talking.

"Hahaha. You are indeed a schemer, Fall Night."

"I learn from the best in this unit, Purple Night."

"What the… What are you implying, Fall Night?"

"Isn't a schemer a person who plans thoroughly through deceit and unruly means? I wonder who fits that bill perfectly." Sifir laughs dryly.

"When did you get this bold fall night? I didn't think you liked to play with your life like this."

"My life? I am really playing with it. Because if that were the case, I should be somewhere else and not here, Purple Night."

"You are awfully witty tonight, Fall Night. Being stubborn is really bad for your health."

"Sigh."

Sifir takes off his shirt, exposing his wound on his chest. All the while still holding the small tatter book. Purple Night is looking at Sifir like he is meat on the chopping board. Before Sifir began to walk toward Purple Night, Sifir ripped out the last page of the book and then handed Purple Night the book, and she was a little bit shocked by Sifir's actions. Since Purple Night wasn't able to see the last page of the book, she would never know in that moment that the book, from start to finish, was leading up to the Integrated Nine Extreme Elements.

"This is a trade. A trade that you force, Purple Night."

"You should be happy; I didn't need to use force."

"Bet. Where are we meeting tomorrow?" While saying this, Sifir picked up his belongings and placed them in his dimension bag. Purple Night narrows her eyes.

"We are leaving through the South Gate."

"I will see you there." Sifir opens up the window and leaps up to the top of the roof of the inn. Purple Night just watched as Sifir left the room. Purple Night didn't care because she got the book. Even if she wasn't a body cultivator, she was one of the best inscriptionists for her level.

A quick look over the book, and the more that Purple Night read the book, the more she was glad she was overbearing. The simple fact of the unique way of setting arrays, formations, diagrams, and runes was breath-taking. Only if Purple Night knew what she really traded wasn't the book of the Profound Heavenly Tool of Body Refinement but her freedom. This decision would hunt Purple Night for as long as Sifir was still alive.

Sifir began to cultivate and slowly digest the gains from combat in the Misty Rain Forest. Slowly increasing his battle prowess and cultivation base. Knowing that he needed to be stronger. Being bullied or forced to give up things that were all ready in his hand left a nasty taste in Sifir's mouth. Sifir would remember this debt and pay it back to Purple Night. For now, all Sifir could do was focus on absorbing elementary essences.

Not too far, Death Sword and Jagged just entered the Cold Steel city. Both of them started to walk to find an inn to stay at until Death Sword sensed someone was watching them.

"Jagged, follow me close."

"Yes, Death Sword. Sigh."

What Jagged disliked the most was being attached to the Death Sword hip. Not having the freedom to do as he pleases and causing trouble for people. Since then, Death Sword has kept a short leash on Jagged's reign of terror. Traveling has been decent and fairly quick.

Both Death Sword and Jagged started to move faster in the quiet of the night. While moving from one building to another. Unit 05 notices a two-man team moving in their direction.

"I think that unit 04 is moving towards us, leader."

"Let us move now! When we are out of the Death Sword sensing range, we are going to have to talk about leaking our presence and being discovered by opposite teams." The leader was not too happy about being discovered. By the Death Sword two-man team.

For people who were under the elders commands. Teams that have more than three people. They would break out into two sets of two-man teams or one team of three-man and two-man teams. This allows them to move more swiftly and conveniently in large areas like cities or forests.

What made the Ghost Unit unique among the Elder's underlings was that they were good at running away and staying out of sight. Even if one could sense them. They would never be able to know who they are. Since they would have all left the area.

Death Sword and Jagged stopped moving. Clearly, Death Sword had a hard time trying to sense where those cultivators were. I was thinking about using Noble Death to find these people who were trying to escape his grasp. Death Sword noticed a unique aura 15 miles away from them. While trying to focus on that aura. A killing intent blossoms out of nowhere.

"Who dares to spy on me? The Pavilion Master of Iron Hallow!!!"

"Iron… Who? Death Sword, let me make him a true hollow corpse." Jagged smiled wickedly behind his mask.

Death Sword didn't even put the Pavilion Master of the Iron Hallow in his eye. He was still looking for those cultivators who were still running away from him and Jagged.

"Jagged, do you want to have some fun?" Death Sword spoke coldly.

I paused for a second and then replied quickly. "Your kind of fun is definitely different than my kind of fun, Death Sword."

"Answer the question, Jagged. Before I added another wound to your chest, "Death Sword spoke colder than before.

"Do you want me to chase those rats or deal with this unknown cultivator?"

"Chase those rats and bring me the leader's head, Jagged."

Jagged took off in the direction they were running in. Even if Jagged didn't care for wild goose chases, it was better than being with Death Sword, monitoring his actions. For Jagged, he could do two things. The first was to look for Sifir and take a pound of flesh out of him. The second was to kill people. Jagged mental state was of a true slaughter and killer. The pure screams and the begging voices of his victims were like the purest joy and pleasure to Jagged ears.

Jagged licks his lips behind his mask. On the other hand, the Death Sword gripped Noble Death, preparing to unsheathe it. Noticing city guards rushing over because of the aura that has been generated.

If Death Sword wants to make a move, he would need to make one now. However, the Pavilion Master of Iron Hallow came out and unleashed a strike with a sword that was imbued with gold metal to add sharpness to his attack.

"I am tired of you people thinking you can treat me like some sort of sample!"

"You are dead." Death Sword said coldly.

Before the Pavilion Master of Iron Hallow could think, a sense of danger washed over him like water embracing the moonlight. The Pavilion Master didn't even have a chance. The Death Sword struck out with lightning speed. No one was able to see the Death Sword move. However, the slashes that covered the Pavilion Master were four, and each part of his body started to slide apart.

The fact that Death Sword dispatches this cultivator with ease. Not even breaking a sweat for Death Sword and showing his own battle prowess. The city guards stop immediately and look in horror at what they just saw. Death Sword looked over and stared at them if they came. They would die in the same way. Jagged came back to the side of the Death Sword.

"Where is the head of that leader?"

"I lost them, Death Sword."

"Really! How many people did you kill?"

" None."

"How many people did you kill?"

"Damnit! I killed five people with the Death Sword. Why are you doing this to me?" Jagged cried out in frustration.

"I am going to ask one more time. If you lie to me again, I will make sure to leave a bigger injury in your body, Jagged."

"You let Purple Night have all the fun, Death Sword. Fine, I killed nine people. Six were low-level cultivators. 3 were civilians." Jagged gritted his teeth while speaking.

Death Sword slashes out with his hand instead of Noble Death. Striking right in the same spot where he left Jagged's first injury in the Misty Rain Forest, he imbued himself with the death element, viciously destroying three meridians and forcing the death element right into an already damaged meridian. Jagged let out a scream that horrified everyone around her. Jagged dropped down to his knees. Jagged clutched his chest and coughed up blood that was mixed with the death element.

"Keep lying to me, and I will crush more of your meridians. Especially around one of the main meridians." Death Sword was frosty and pissed.

"Dammit! DEATH SWORD! Why are you always hard on me?"

"Why are you so dumb?" Death Sword said it with disdain.

Everyone just looks at this two-man team in shock and terror. These cultivators were nuts, and these guards didn't want anything to do with them. Somewhere outside of range of Death Sword sensing ability. Unit 05 saw everything. The leader of unit 05 had a frown on his face, and he looked at his squad members in disgust.
