To City B from City A we had to pass through a forest. The forest was a few kilometers wide so it will take a while to reach City B from City A. It was currently night time, so we waited in the bus until daylight due to it being safer and it'll be easier to spot undeads at day....for humans that is, I could see perfectly in the dark. Thankfully, Claire and others took my advice and raided the grocery stores allowing everyone to have a full stomach before going to sleep which improved everyone's mood, even if just slightly. I sat on the top of the bus playing with my flames, giving it different shapes and increasing and decreasing it's intensity.
Soon the sun shone above the horizon and a new day started. I went into the bus and woke all of the survivors up making sure they were prepared for the journey ahead. I armed each of them with a gun, except for the three children ofcourse, and we proceeded on our journey. I took a new katana for my self as the old one has crumbled to dust after I used [Demon Enchant]. On our way to the forest a few thralls attacked but they were easily dispatched by the others. We reached the forest without much issue but for some reason I felt uneasy and I activated the [Aura Vision] skill and what I saw made me shiver.
"Everyone quickly, grab your guns and ready yourself for an attack." Everyone looked at me weirdly but I grabbed an M16 from the back and pointed it out one of the windows. Seeing that I was serious everyone got ready as well.
Inside the forest I could see thousands of red auras and although they seemed weaker than the thralls, there numbers were a cause for concern. Soon a bear with glowing red eyes ran out of the forest but I quickly shot it dead.
[You have slain a level 3 Demonic Beast(tier 1). You have gained 15 exp.]
'Demonic Beast.' I wasn't given enough time to think as more animals rushed out of the forest. Bears, panthers, tigers and all types of animals and soon all anyone could hear was the gunshots and roars. Some of them managed to ram the bus causing it to swerve a bit but thankfully the driver was skilled enough to keep it on the road. The bus started to accelerate and soon the animals started to fall behind but we still shot the ones that were too close. By now we killed hundreds of them and they seemed to be lessening a bit as some of them stopped to feast on their dead comrades which caused everyone to sigh in relief. But a problem soon became evident very quickly.....we were running out of bullets, fast.
*Cawwww*
*Cawww*
*Cawww*
.....
Soon a cacophony of bird noises sounded in the sky and everyone's face turned pale. Looking up, a dense dark cloud was approaching the bus and we started firing at it but it made little difference as they continued their approach undeterred. Then the inevitable happened, we ran out of bullets and everyone started to panic. Gritting my teeth, I jumped onto the roof of the bus. I used [Demonic Energy Manipulation] to concentrate a large amount of demonic energy in my hand and a ball of fire appeared in my hand. Pointing my palm at the incoming tide of birds, I then waited for them to get closer.
Twenty meters....
Fifteen meters, everyone's face turned pale and there hands started to tremble...
Ten meters, everyone fell to their knees seeming given up and the woman grabbed her children and started crying.....
Five meters, the sky lit up orange and the people in the bus felt an intense heat and they saw burning birds falling from the sky.
The flame in my hand was shooting out like
a flamethrower, killing the birds in the dozens but strangely I didn't get any exp I wonder why.
[The amount of Demon Miasma inside the Demonic Beast(crows) is negligible so it is instead consumed by your flames.]
[Your [Hell Fire] grows stronger. ]
Well that answered my question. As I burned hundreds of crows I could feel my DP running out and my flames getting stronger, it was quite the contrasting sensation. The other beasts started running away scared of my flame and the flock of demonic crows soon left as well after a good portion of their flock was burnt to ashes. Seeing the flock leave, I quickly hopped back inside the bus and I was met with gazes of astonishment and fear.
