I was kind of surprised that the police officers upstairs didn't come down to see what was going on. Then again they were probably scared of me with the way I shrugged off their bullets when they shot me. But whatever, all that matters is that I got some weapons. Now the hard part is teaching these guys how to use them and not accidentally shoot each other.
"Listen all there is to using a gun is point and pull the trigger. In the case of zombies you guys should try your best to aim for the head." I told them and they simply nodded.
"How do we reload these?" Claire asked while holding a pistol. It seemed like she got back most of he spirit.
"Like this." I said and gave a visual demonstration of how to and they tried to replicate it but failed. They will learn with practice....I hope. I decided to load all of the weapons just incase.
"Oh yeah each of you should take two pistols just incase and try your best to learn to reload." I told them. They followed my advice and took two guns from the duffle bags. I needed to decide my next action. I could head straight to B City or I could stay here for a while and rescue survivors while also Leveling up to evolve. I decided on the latter since I hadn't totally abondoned humanity yet.
"Where's the biggest grocery store in the city?" I asked.
"Uhm, that would be 'K&K', why do you ask?" Answered one of the girls. It seemed they've gotten a bit braver now.
"I'm going shopping." I said flatly and the girl just looked at me wide eyed.
"Hey Collin I heard that there is a safe haven in B City called 'Sanctuary' or something maybe we should head there." Claire said with a bit of hope in her voice.
"Oh, I've heard of it."
"Then why aren't we...." Claire started to say but I cut her off.
"I want to save as many people as possible before leaving. If you have a problem with that you can leave." I said and Claire bit her lips and sat back down.
As we drove to 'K&K's there were hundreds of undeads following the vehicle probably attracted by the engine. Time to test out the big guns. I took up one of the M16s and a few magazines and went to the back of the bus and smash the window. I pointed the gun at the approaching horde, excited by the amount of exp I was going to earn from this. And so filled with a dark glee, I opened fire on the horde. Bullets flew hitting limbs and other body parts, with horde like this I couldn't possibly miss but there seems to be a problem. I wasn't getting any exp no matter how many of them I killed with my gun. But I wasn't dissuaded I continued to open fire on them and reloading and soon their were over a hundred corpses and the undeads stopped and started to feast on their fallen brethren.
Fuck. I didn't even get a single exp point. But I did learn a few things from this experience. Now I know I won't gain any exp by killing undeads from far away. I also noticed that whenever I killed one of the thralls demon miasma leaked from their bodies and joined with the low hanging cloud on the ground. I also realized something I should have realized before, undeads seemed to only eat their own kind and if that's the case then why do they hunt humans? If I had to guess it is to increase their numbers but there main priority seems to getting stronger by devouring their own kind. This information might be useful in the future.
We reached the 'K&K' grocery store without anymore problems. The store itself seemed as big as a mall. It was three stories high and seemed wide enough to be classified as a mall. Activating my [Aura Vision] I could sense multiple red and blue auras all over the place on every floor but that was something to worry about tomorrow I was exhausted.
"Grab your guns, we are heading inside." I strapped two pistols to my waste and exchanged my machete for a katana. The machete has served me well but I noticed that I had to put more force behind my strikes to behead a thrall which means it was getting dull. I grabbed a shotgun and a few shells just in case. Using my ability, I led us to an unoccupied section of the store which was a clothing store.
"So what's the plan?" Claire asked but I simply locked the door behind us and curled up on a bundle of clothes.
"Sleep." I said as I drifted off into the land of dreams.
