Gina woke up in a stone room, she was in the corner laying in a small and simple bed while in the center of the room was her dungeon core, floating peacefully in place, a single doorless opening being the only way in and out.
Gina tried pushing herself up from the bed only to fall back down wincing in pain. She had forgotten about her left arm and looking at it saw that her cuts had been bandaged, though it still ached in pain.
With some effort she managed to sit up, sighing at her new inability and her previous failure.
The injury was now a reminder of her stupidity, she should have planned better, acted smarter, instead she failed on almost every level she could think of and severely injured herself.
It was extra apparent to her just how badly she had handled the situation when the notifications began appearing in front of her.
[ Human Terry Milson Slain DP+ 5 ]
[ Human Wilson Rutherford Slain DP+ 8 ]
[ Hamster Oreo Slain DP+ 2 ]
The messages continued on for dozens of times most of which were pets, but plenty were humans, people that she had failed to save. Eventually after reading fifty of them, she shooed it away, closing her eyes to try and calm herself, ultimately failing.
"Good, you're finally awake, are you doing, okay? No dizziness or tiredness?" It was Quinn, walking through the exit with a small bottle of water.
Quinn passed it to her, with Gina taking a small sip before answering, "No, my arm just stings a bit. What's happened since I fainted?"
Quinn sighed wondering where to start, "After you pulled the fire alarm all hell broke loose, the humans all left their apartments to see what was happening while the mutated ripped through their doors and started slaughtering them. A few managed to escape while others hid, most didn't last long."
Gina was still, she already had read the notifications and knew why. It was the reason that the fire alarm was plan B, it gave the people a starting chance, but drew out all the mutated at the same time, "What else?"
Quinn continued, "The poison was a minor one, quick acting but meant to incapacitate and slow rather than kill, you've already worked it out of your system. We had to move you and the core though, after an hour the mutated started leaving the building with a panic truly starting, now the building's been zoned off and they've begun clearing it of any other mutated."
Gina nodded, with their appearances they'd be immediately marked as mutated and likely shot on sight, "So where are we now?"
"The second floor of the dungeon." Quinn answered, "We aren't able to do much without your permissions, but this much was allowed."
Looking around the room she realized that Heather was missing, "Where is Heather?"
Quinn's wing's shook nervously, "The stairwell is quite noticeable, while weakened Heather is still an expert in illusion magic and is hiding us, she's beginning to face mana exhaustion though and won't last much longer. With your permission I can start using building traps to at least delay their entry."
"No, I'll do it. How do I get traps?" Gina had been thinking about what she wanted and needed in her dungeon for a while, and the number one thing she needed now was time. It had taken her a while to think of how to gain that time, but a trap had sprung up in her head the night before and it would be perfect.
Quinn quickly answered her, "You'll have to buy one from the Dungeon Shop with DP, then you can place it down with the Dungeon Management, there in your status."
Pulling up her status quickly it appeared before her.

There were several new changes, from the resistance to her two new stats, but now wasn't the time to think of those quickly she tapped on the Dungeon Shop skill.
Another menu opened up, this time being a green screen.
[ Welcome to the Dungeon Shop! We have everything you can think of and more, browse around or use our search function to find the exact thing you crave. ]
Rows of items appeared after that from simple things like building materials, to buildings, even people and monsters all for sale and with a price attached to them, many of which she couldn't afford.
Now wasn't the time to look through those wonders, she pulled up the search function immediately and thought of her request, 'Traps that can only be passed by using Mana.'
Hundreds of results appeared before her, traps that would need specific types of mana to be passed, traps that would require large amounts of mana, and if not thousands of other more unique traps. Searching rapidly Gina found one that was perfect.
It was a small room, having a single entrance with the exit being a closed door, above the door was a random question which when answered would open the door, with the actual question that needed to be answered being hidden underneath a small layer of illusion magic, easily solved with mana, but impossible to solve without it.
The room even came with an extra trick where no matter what was answered the door would open, but only the correct answer would reveal the real path, while the incorrect one would leave them trapped in a maze that ended by dropping them back in the room they started in.
It would become useless once everyone had mana, but for now it was perfect, exactly what she needed to prepare, the trap was one of the cheaper ones as well, still costing her an exorbitant 500 DP, but she had no choice.
Purchasing it she closed the shop and opened up the Dungeon Management skill as Quinn had instructed, with a new much smaller green screen appearing before her.
[Dungeon: Unnamed
Floor 1- Traps: 0. Outsiders: 32. Inhabitants: 0. Daily DP: 33.
Floor 2- Traps: 0. Outsiders: 0. Inhabitants: 0. Daily DP: 0. Final Floor. ]
Selecting the second floor changed the green screen to a 3D map, detailing exactly what was in the floor from the bed in the corner, the walls, even the stairwell, though it didn't show off her, Heather or Quinn.
She went to work, moving back the room they were in and putting the trap in its place, even with those few changes the cost for that action took nearly everything she had left being 60 DP. Before finalizing the changes Gina gave an order to the doctor, "Quinn, go get Heather now, bring her here."
The fairy lady nodded, running off to go get Heather.
Gina was left there alone, waiting impatiently for them to return, worried thoughts of how Heather might have already been discovered and Quinn was running to her death filled her head, but she shook them off, focusing on watching the doorway for their return.
Minutes passed when they returned, both of them sprinting exhaustedly through the opening. Without waiting for a response Gina activated the changes, the core spun faster with the room shaking violently for a few seconds, coming to a stop and leaving the trio in safety.
