"What?"
"Huh?
Both the twins loudly exclaimed, they both couldn't believe what they just heard, and it made them lose their nonchalance, they had been trying so hard to maintain all this time.
Lily looked confused by their exaggerated reactions. She thought perhaps she approached this subject poorly 'But isn't this how people normally make friends?'
"Did I say something wrong? If I did I'm sorry, all I want is to be friends with you two." While still stupified, they tried calming themselves. Luna leaned forward, her eyes hardened, as if Lily had offended her. She asked "What kind of game are you playing at? I told you we don't have time for whatever this is. What is it that you really want from us? Tell us now or els-"
"Or else what?" Lily finished Luna's threat, her eyes glowed ominously, the crimson mist materialised around her, suddenly the rooms temperature dropped, and a chill ran through Luna's spine. She tried to hide her discomfort but she failed, she couldn't look away from Lily's eyes.
She slowly leaned back. Her heart was pounding out of her chest, she could hear it beating inside her ears. "Luna is it? You asked me what is my agenda? What do I want? To tell you the truth, nothing. I haven't retained all of memories of what really happened last night.
But I'm certain, one of you brought me back from the dead, and I suspect you being here, having no control over me means things didn't go exactly as you guys had hoped. So I will put things as simple as I can, so that you will understand, your not the one in charge here.
Here are my terms, either I command the two of you to kill each other or kill yourselves, and be done with it, since there is no chance in hell, I will let you guys go, only to bring trouble to myself later on or we can pretend everything is fine, and just be friends.
See simple, now choose your poison!"
Her tone was cold, with not a hint of emotion within it, empty for lack of a better word. She really was trying to just be friends with them, but something about the way Luna talked to her, pissed her off.
Oddly enough after Lily finished saying her piece, Luna was terrified as Lily had expected, but there was a glint of cold and calm calculation, as she dissected Lily's words objectively, Aurora on the other hand had discarded her stoic mask, and was fuming with anger directed at Lily.
Though as angry as she was, there was no bloodthirstiness behind her anger. After a few minutes of silence, and tension that could be cut with a chainsaw, Luna audibly sighed, and all heads turned to her. She looked tired than anything else. She leaned back on the couch, and sighed once more.
"Well I guess now that we are connected, and as you said even if there is a way to break our connection I doubt very strongly you will allow it, as there is an obvious lack of trust between, it's best for all of us is to get along.." Luna said tiredly.
The mist disappeared, and Lily's eyes stopped glowing, she beamed a smile at them, very happy to have finally made friends. Aurora wasn't exactly thrilled "But Luna ca-"
"There's no need to finish what you were going to say, we can trust her, it's not like we have a choice on the matter, plus look at it this way, after integrating with her memories is there anything that says she will mistreat us?"
Lily was shocked by the revelation, but then again, she didn't care even though she felt a little exposed knowing that they know more about her than she knows about them. After hesitating and muling over her thoughts, Aurora reluctantly nodded.
Lily sighed with relief, this day was already turning out to be something beautiful. The somber atmosphere was now comfortable, with only awkward eye contact between Aurora and Lily, both being socially inept when it comes to this types of situations.
Luna had been blankly staring at the ceiling, then as if remembering something important her eyes gained light, and she leaned forward to Lily, grasping her hands to hers.
She innocently beamed, flashing a smile at Lily, her eyes hopeful. Both Lily and Aurora were taken aback by her actions.
"Wh- wha- what?" Lily asked, stammering, as this was the first time someone so beautiful had ever been this close to her. Her heart was ready to leave her body, she felt out of place.
Luna's smile widened seeing Lily's reaction. Her eyes which were hopeful, became serious, her smile was nowhere to be seen, as she said "Hey human, where can I get Ice cream?"
"..."
"..."
"..."
Silence. That was the only way to describe the current mood, of all the things Lily had been expecting to come out of Luna's mouth after setting the mood back to it's somber atmosphere, this was the last thing she could have guessed.
Aurora's hands were on her temples, she swore she could feel a headache coming, because of her sister's lack of capability of reading the room, wasn't she supposed to be the one with the common sense, so to speak.
"The- there is some left inside the fridge, wou- would you like... some?" After a long time Lily finally replied.
Luna's smile came back. She was like a child with those beaming eyes. That's all she had ever wanted from the humans, this Ice cream. She didn't know why she desired it so much, only after seeing another human enjoying it, but she just did.
She was so happy that she found it difficult to speak, she instead eagerly nodded over and over, and over again. Lily stood up, and walked to the fridge absent-minded, passing her dead father still encased in ice. She opened the fridge and took out an ice cream tub, and placed in on the kitchen counter.
She took out three Ice cream bowls, and also placed them on the counter. She scooped the ice cream from tub, and transferred it into the ice bowls. When she was done, she put the ice back in the fridge. And took out three spoons, each for one person.
She picked the ice cream bowls back to the living room, were Luna was impatiently waiting for the Ice cream. She gave Luna the ice cream first, then Aurora, and she sat down on the coffee table.
She watched as Luna hesitantly scooped a bite from the bowl, and brought it to her mouth, she opened it slowly, and swallowed. Her eyes lit up, and she went back for another scoop. Aurora had also been looking at her sister, and she saw her enjoying this Ice cream, and she followed suit, and took a bite.
Her eyes also lit, but not as exaggerated as her sister's eyes. She too enjoyed the ice cream, and they both had all but forgotten about Lily. She shook her head with a grin, and focused on her own ice cream. The smell was exactly, as she remembered, but she wondered about the taste.
She scooped a bite, and brought the spoon close to her mouth, she stuck out her tongue and licked the ice cream, and she grimaced. Just that single lick, tasted like spoiled food, but a thousand times worse. She gently put down the ice cream aside, and thought.
'I'm hungry!'
