Chapter 79 - Practicing my Flight

I pushed Zenobia to the other side of the bed.

Tonight was the last day of the 3 months, and I figured I could let her have a good night's sleep after doing my best to keep her awake. I had cast the same spells on her as Elaria puts on the rest of my servants that don't allow pleasure from my touch but found it doesn't block pain, which was good for seeing if she'd leave or not.

She was unable to do anything right now due to the paralysis venom I liked. She could only lay there with blood leaking out from areas that had been rubbed partly through the skin. Not enough to worry about her dying though, and I can cast a healing spell tomorrow.

There were no lights in the cave, so she couldn't actually see anything. My night vision was better; I didn't notice it at first due to using magic for that problem usually, but now I don't have to.

I experimented with a few types of venom like weakness, orgasm-inducing, regeneration, sleep, sleeplessness, and my favorite, paralysis. I know I can also make addictive venom and one for extreme pain, but that would be too mean.

She's already asleep; as soon as I stopped keeping her awake, she was out like a light.

I reached over to the corner of her mouth where she'd bit a small chunk from her lip and wiped some blood off with my index finger before placing it in my mouth.

If I had to equate my enjoyment to a desert, it would be like a decent ice cream. The first time I tried it, it was better, like a top-of-the-line premium product. I hadn't been quite sure why it changed so I asked her if she knew, and she had said it was because she wasn't intact anymore.

I don't have a problem with the sun at all, and Kitty explained this one to me; I'm a cultivator and not just a vampire. Besides, only the weakest of the weakest vampires can't be in the sun. The rest just find it a little bothersome and hot with it becoming less bothersome the stronger they are.

Both the werewolves and the vampires are a little stronger at night, with the werewolves' strength changing a small amount based on the phase of the moon.

I haven't tried anything with my wings yet; I'll practice flying while Zenobia is cultivating.

I decided to work on my own cultivation till morning when our contract says I'll teach her. I know I could get out of it by destroying the part of it bound to myself with energy, but if I did that, her trust in what I promise I'm going to do will be broken, and I need a servant in this world anyway, so I'd still teach her.

I'm not far from breaking through since I'm already at the very peak of Quasi-Immortal and am quite excited to finally leave the mortal realms.

---

I sensed it was morning even though no light reached the inside of the cave and sat up.

Glancing beside me, I saw Zenobia was still sleeping like the dead and cast a healing spell on her. I expect her to sleep some more, but if she doesn't have to regenerate herself, it will be shorter.

I left a lumistone on a note next to her telling her to take a bath when she got up and get ready to learn today. I placed a bath next to the bed and used magic to fill it with slightly cold water so she wouldn't sit in it longer than necessary.

I teleported out of the cave, to the boring rocky slope with only a few trees and made sure Zenobia was still in range of my divine sense then let my wings from my back.

'Erm, Kitty, why aren't they coming out?'

[You have to pick a type.]

'What? Please explain it to stupid me.'

[You have to pick either shadow, feather, or chiropteran.]

Chiropractor what? 'Please explain that last type.'

[Think bat.]

You swing a bat aaaannnnnd home run!!! I shall play baseball with heads.

'I can now bludgeon my enemies to death by dual wielding bats from my shoulders.'

[#$@!%&@!$%#* the animal bat with leathery wings.]

'…'

'Ima go with feather for now.'

I tried summoning my wings again, this time thinking about the feather type.

My shirt was shredded to pieces, and scraps hung off the ends of my wings, but that wasn't important.

I looked at the black feathers and reached out to touch them. I felt as though I had control over some aspects of them and tried making them soft.

They were so soft I was reminded of Lila's ears. Now I can get Luna and Zari to touch my softness and make Lila jealous for all those times she let them pet her instead of me.

I stretched them out to the sides and estimated they stretched about 11 feet in either direction, so about a 22-foot span.

I spent some time getting used to moving them around, retracting them back into my shoulders, and making them come back out.

I got pretty comfortable with them by the time Zenobia was up and finished with her bath. I recalled them and teleported back to her.

She didn't seem surprised at someone appearing in front of her. "Do people often appear in front of you instantly?"

"Not in front of me so close, but it's not uncommon for the vampires to appear out of nowhere since they are so fast."

I devoured everything inside the cave since it was so bloody from our stay, then placed down a new bed, table and chairs.

I pointed towards the bed. "Sit."

She obediently sat on the bed, and I pulled out a section of the cultivation book, handed it to her then began explaining the very basics. I don't think she understood at all though.

After I was finished, I had an off-topic question. "Why did you want to learn so badly that you went through everything you did?"

"I refuse to be a slave."

Is she so dumb as to not know what she signed?

"Why was that lady carrying you when we met?"

"She was taking me to be sold in one of the cities to the north. I would have been either a blood slave or sex slave there. But I met you, and now I never have to work for a vampire."

I'm a vampire.

"How did you know I was human when we met?"

"I can just tell after living around vampires all my life. All humans who have can."

"Did you know I was a vampire when you signed the contract?"

She nodded. "Yep."

I get the feeling she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. Although maybe her determination and looks make up for it enough that people don't mind. I'll keep her and let Elaria decide what to do with her if she is too dumb.

"Ok, work on cultivation. I'll stay and help you till you figure it out. And even after you do, I won't go too far, so just shout if you need me."

---

I never want to explain cultivation or magic to anyone with no idea of it ever again. At least in my world, everyone had somewhat of an imagination of a sort of power that can't be seen and gives superheroes their abilities even if it is different; they still have the ability to open their mind to the concept.

But here? Completely and totally void of any concept of it. Age and bloodline determine power.

It took 2 weeks for her to sense it, and another couple of days to get a single wisp. Now that she has though, I can go practice flying.

I teleported out of the cave and looked around. I'm not quite sure how to fly, but it can't be too hard, right? I remember hearing about how the mother bird yeets their babies out of the nest to teach them to fly and decided to try something similar.

I figure I'm like 70x as big as a bird, so if I want to fly, I need to go 70 times as high when I fall. Maybe a nest is like 50 feet up, so... I drew in the air with my finger using magic to write.

3,500. I should teleport about 3,500 feet in the air and try flying. Even if I can't, I won't die. Although it will take some time to heal that many broken bones, even with magic.

I looked up and decided there was no time like the present and teleported. I immediately started falling. Feather-type wings sprouted from my back, and I spread them out parallel with the ground.

My descent slowed only slightly because I was having trouble keeping them in place; the edges kept turning towards the ground, and I wasn't quite sure how to flap them.

I tried thinking about how birds move them, but I couldn't quite get it, and the ground was approaching fast. Jeez, so short to figure it out, only like 15 seconds.

Boom!

Rocks went flying in all directions as I lay there on my side with one of my wings folded in a funny direction and the bloody bone protruding. I found it interesting that I could tell each place I was injured, but it was only a irritating and not extremely painful. Both legs, most ribs, both wings, one arm, and my spine were broken. I could not move a millimeter.

I was about to cast a healing spell on myself right away, but found my bones already popping back into place. It made a disgusting sound as they ground and snapped together; the ones that ripped through flesh were pulled back in, fused like nothing ever happened.

I was good as new only about 30 seconds after my fall. I was shocked at my new discoveries; I had been sure I was going to need magic.

'Kitty, wasn't my regeneration a little fast?'

[The power of the top bloodline at about 16,500 years old is very good. Even though you're older, you were in the space between multiverses which don't count for the vast majority of your age. Usually a vampire would need to be well fed to regenerate as fast as they can, however you don't need that.]

'You said this world is only 20,000 years old, so I'm like 83% as powerful as the original vampires? And my vampire powers won't get much more powerful in proportion to them if I'm not here long, right? So I will have to rely on cultivation and magic also if I want to beat them.'

[Yes and yes.]

I sat down to think about how a bird flaps its wings. The leading edge tilts just slightly down but remains pretty flat; then it gets pressed towards the ground. For the upward motion, they pitch up significantly more than when they went down, then move up.

I stood up and teleported to the sky again. This time much higher since I'd already hit terminal velocity at less than half of my previous height, I figured I should just give myself more time to practice. It's not like it's going to kill me anyway.

Going to try to publish 3x a week now. Every day was to much and I wanted to just write a conclusion and quit altogether.

Thanks for reading my book.
