Chapter 80 - Nyx and Nova

It took me about two weeks to get a handle on my three sets of wings. After I figured out how to even fly, I cast an obstacle course made of illusions to practice maneuvering. I could complete it pretty well most of the time, but I know I can improve more if I practice. I'm just a little bored now to practice; I want to fly somewhere fun, not around a bland rock pile.

I'd given Zenobia some lesser energy stones, so now she's at Foundation Establishment. I made sure her foundation for Qi Refinement was solid, but I'm too bored to beat her foundation into being solid now, so I'll do it later, and she'll just have to wait to move on to the next realm. She only built the first circle because I don't have enough energy to give her stones for that also; I'll use it for myself.

My breakthrough to the Human Immortal was really uneventful. I was hoping for a grand phenomenon like super vivid northern lights or something, but Kitty said I wasn't in a world that did that. I'm a little sad that only happens in a world where cultivation is its power structure.

I've been running the timescale of my world at the same as this one, so by now, the girls should have reached Human Immortal also.

I'm bored, so now I think I will go to town. Unless I piss off some very old monster, I'll be fine, and from what Zenobia said, they all live in the capital anyway, and the nearest city to us is across the country from there. And even if I do meet one, they won't be so unreasonable as to attack me without cause.

There is also the fact that I could probably surprise them with magic and kill them before they knew what the hell was going on. So, we are leaving this boring mountain.

I woke Zenobia, "Let's go to the city."

"Huh? Right now? Isn't it the middle of the night?"

"I don't care if it's the middle of the night in the dead of winter. I'm bored, so we're leaving."

"Well, I don't have to go with you." She rolled over and closed her eyes.

"Yea, you do."

"No, I don't. I stayed for 3 months and you taught me, so now I'll do whatever I want!"

"Read the rest of the contract."

I could sense her pulling up the contract in her mind; she instantly became livid, "What! You bastard! I won't let you own me!"

"Read all of it."

She tried to attack me, but her fist stopped an inch from my face, and she collapsed to the ground clutching her head. "It hurts, it hurts. What did you do, bastard!"

"I did tell you to read it. You cannot hurt me in any way, and attempting it anyway will be met with pain or death. Though if you do good, when I want to leave this world, I can leave you here to do whatever you want."

Well, if I left her, she would be devoured along with the world, but whatever. She doesn't need to know that; if she didn't have a chance to do her own thing, then how could I expect her to do a good job? Also, if she doesn't want to work for me, I'll leave her anyway.

"Now, stop muttering that I'm a bastard. We are leaving now. Call me Master instead. And realize I did tell you to read the contract before you signed it."

I turned and walked through the cave towards the entrance with Zenobia following behind now that the pain had subsided enough to walk.

I looked through the void towards the south, the direction Zenobia had previously pointed for a city and found it after a minute of looking. Now, do I want to fly there or teleport?

I'll just teleport. I want to get there sooner, and it would probably take me an hour or so to fly, maybe longer while carrying Zenobia.

Clothes first though. 'Kitty, please pull up the most appropriate clothing designs for me.'

[Fine, since you don't know them yet, I shall take the time to help you once. But not again. Zenobia's clothing should also change to a uniform. You should also tattoo the back of her hand with your mark, which is whatever you want it to be.]

I don't know what kind of uniform she means, but I found out when the window popped up. There were only a few to choose from, but I found the differences from the description; apparently, the different types of slaves get different uniforms. I picked the most generic one and chose it in black and deep blue.

It had three pieces, plus boots; the shirt sleeves went down to the middle of her forearm, and the collar didn't go up the neck at all. The skirt only went down to a few inches above the knee, after which the black stocking could be seen going down the rest of the way.

Everything was designed in a way to show off her looks. I bought it, made sure to memorize the energy structure of it since Kitty wouldn't help me again, and told her to put it on. I also cast a powerful glamour on the back of her hands of a royal blue snowflake with shadow wings. Zenobia looked mad about the outfit and tattoo, but I paid her no attention.

For me, I went with a dark red long sleeve shirt with blue trim, black pants, and a black trench coat.

We both dressed, and I teleported us both to a spot where no one was around and headed towards the road leading into the city. For some reason, there was what seemed to be a celebration going on.

This was the city Zenobia lived in before she was selected to be sold by that vampire lady and dragged off toward a northern city, "You live in this city. What are they doing?"

She still sounded pissed off but was forced to answer, "They are celebrating the Ladies' return from a war with the werewolves in the east."

"Who are they?"

"Lady Nyx and Lady Nova Emrys are twins. They are the rulers of this city, well, technically it's Lady Nyx, but they do everything together. There are even rumors they are in a relationship together. I also heard they are both battle maniacs, which is why they are usually on the front lines."

We walked down the street and into town. It was more advanced than Lila's world technology-wise, but still several hundred years behind mine at the rate of progression mine was at. They have two factories powered by steam within the range of my divine sense, and my eyes could see a large group of their chimneys on the other side of the city.

As we walked along the sidewalk, I noticed most of the people here were vampires and humans wearing a slave uniform. But no matter who they were, they moved out of my way.

I cast a silencing barrier that would move with us and spoke to Zenobia who was unhappily following behind, "Fix your expression and why are they all moving out of the way?"

"Tsk, do you re-"

I stopped walking and looked over my shoulder, leaking a hint of killing intent.

Her face turned terrified with all the blood draining from her cheeks, "I-I-I m-mean uh, Master, and um humans always move out of the way of vampires, and vampires move away from those more powerful and have a higher level bloodline. What wings do you have?"

"Shadow, feather, and bat. Why?"

She almost tripped, "Master, only the most pure-blooded have shadow."

I already knew I was pure blooded but didn't know about the wings thing, "Well, that's nice to know."

I wandered around the city for a bit and felt the gaze of someone following me but ignored it since they weren't malicious, more curious. I also was just wandering down a street every few hundred meters, mapping everything with my divine sense, and wasn't going anywhere I would be staying, so I just kept track of them.

After about half an hour, a woman entered the range of my divine sense, and I knew she was coming to meet me. I stopped walking and stood to wait. A minute later, a female vampire in a fancy suit with a decent aura stopped in front of me and bowed respectfully with her hand on her chest.

"Greetings Sir, I am the butler of the Emrys estate. Lady Nyx would like to extend an invitation to visit."

"Hm, sure why not. Shall we go now? And I take it that it was your person following us." I pointed back the way we came towards a rooftop.

"I apologize Sir; we didn't want to lose you while we sent word of your arrival so you could be invited. If it pleases you, I will guide the way to the estate."

The estate could be seen from here since it towered over the rooftops, but whatever she wants.

We followed her towards the estate, only taking about 15 minutes to reach it.

It was quite the grand sight, and I was quite happy it was cleaner than the rest of the streets. Although they weren't super dirty, they didn't smell great.

There was a stone driveway with a fountain at the end; the driveway makes a circle around it, which I assume is so carriages can turn around.

The mansion itself was more like a palace and was made from marble-looking stone. It was just a little smaller than the Beastholm palace, and I guess technically called an estate.

There were guards hiding in the shadows with only a few of them out in plain sight, but they couldn't hide from me.

The doors were opened by some servants, and two identical-looking women with expressionless faces stood in front of a staircase with the only different feature between them was the hair color. I suppose these are the twins Nyx and Nova.

With eyes as red as rubies, they gazed upon me with intense curiosity. One twin's long hair flows like shimmering strands of ice, a chilling blue that glimmers in the moonlight from the windows, while the other's hair is as pure as freshly fallen snow, a pristine white that gleamed with an ethereal luminescence.

Clad in regal attire accented with ruby red gems, their beauty is unmatched. In their crimson gaze, I could see two personalities—one looked hot-blooded, while the other more restrained and cold—yet together, they seemed to have a sort of balance. Their auras were about 1/3 bigger than the butler's, showing they had quite a bit of power, however still under me.

They gave just a small bow, respecting both their noble position and my pure bloodline before the one with ice blue hair spoke.

"I am Lady Nyx Emrys. It is my honor to host you tonight; shall we make our way to the dining room?"

I returned the same bow, "Sure, Lady Nyx."
