Jen almost dropped the flowers out of her hand when she saw Sebastian lying on the hospital bed.
It was such a big room, bright, clean, white- so white that it almost hurt her eyes.
In this empty room, Sebastian's bed was placed right in the middle, with nothing but equipment next to his bed.
"Wow, dude, if you wake up now, you might think you are in heaven." Jen wanted to say that out loud but she didn't want to wake Sebastian up.
Sebastian looked so pale, his beard appearing on his chin, hair was down making him look even skinner. His eyes were closed, tightly.
"He was probably in so much pain and they gave him some medicine and that knocked him out." Jen wanted to send a message to the group and tell them that Sebastian was okay, but nothing would be a piece of better evidence than showing an actual photo of him, safe and sound.
"Let me just get a little bit closer, oh, Mr. Day, maybe one day I can use this photo as leverage, hahaha, Sebastian Day- Sick for the first time after becoming the CEO of YD." Jen got closer to Sebastian, holding her phone, trying to get a good selfie with both her and Sebastian in the frame.
But she stood up too fast, and she didn't eat anything that day- she almost fell on top of Sebastian.
"Oh that was embarrassing, lucky you can't see me." Jen held on to the bars on Sebastian's bed, "Ok, now smile!"
The moment she clicked the shutter on her phone, Sebastian opened his eyes:" Hey, who said I was asleep."
"Ah!!! My heart. Do you have cardiologists here in the hospital?" Jen was scared when Sebastian suddenly woke up.
The damn Day family, everyone loves pranks.
"Don't worry, you can still use that photo to blackmail me." Sebastian smiled at her, his lips looked dry and a little purple.
"Oh, you look so sick. You are never having street food with us ever again." Jen put the flowers on the floor, and poured Sebastian a cup of water, "Want me to feed you?" She smiled at him, "Then I can be your real babysitter like my job description said."
"Just roll up the bed please, I can drink on my own. Thank you. And also, put my flowers on the table. This is the first time someone has gotten me flowers, I want to keep them."
Sebastian struggled to sit up, grabbed the cup, and took several sips of the water.
"Thank you, Jen. I didn't think you would be here today. Especially after reading that news article. I saw it in the group chat as well."
"Oh, don't thank me. Lynn lied and said you were crying for me." Jen pulled the only chair in this room next to Sebastian's bed, "Isn't this room extra creepy?"
"I think so too. Not that I have been to hospitals a lot. I usually just tough it out. But this is indeed creepy."
"You didn't go to hospitals before? When you were sick? What a sad boy. I have to say, you have a very delicate body compared with your crazy life experience."
Jen wanted to help Sebastian to lay down again but he refused: "My butt hurts from lying down so much, just let me sit for a while."
"What do you mean lying down so much, you have been here for only a couple of hours." Jen rolled her eyes at Sebastian.
Maybe Lynn was right, boys do complain more.
"So... Lynn knew about what happened. She tricked me. And now she is outside, looking for who did it. She said she knew." Jen was a little embarrassed to look at Sebastian, she did break their promise to keep it between themselves and Team Sebastian.
"That's ok, I did call for you when I got sick..." Sebastian also had a hint of embarrassment on his face, "I thought we were both going to die..."
"Wait so Lynn wasn't lying about that part?! Oh Sebastian, do they have security cameras near your room, I would pay to see that." Jen burst into laughter, she couldn't imagine this tall man, lying on the floor, crying for her and saying that they were both going to die.
"But that is quite moving." Jen wiped the tears away from her cheeks, "That you would think of me when you are in danger."
"Yes, in danger of that stupid burger that you give me. It was definitely the burger."
"You are just too weak, and it couldn't be the burger! I have been eating that burger for years!"
"Oh, yes, they use strange sauce."
"It was definitely the nuggets that you stole from me. Because it was not yours, so it made you sick!"
"Hey, in all fairness, I paid for it!"
"Yes, but you promised it was for me!"
"You hungry? Wanna order something?"
"Yes, more burgers, so you will see that it didn't get you sick!"
"Naah, you are just lying to yourself."
.....
"So, how are the two kids doing?"
Lynn asked, sitting in the backseat of a moving car.
"Ms. Day, they have requested to have lunch at the hospital, Mr. Day seems very happy that Jen is there. Everything seems good."
"How long does it take until we get there?"
"In about 20 minutes we will arrive."
"Good," Lynn put on her sunglasses, "I have some talking to do. Also, tell the staff to keep whatever Jen has used in the hospital. We need her sample."
"Sample... Like DNA samples?"
"Yes. Do I still need to teach you how to protect the business? Go to my email, page two, the one I received this morning from that reporter." Lynn sounded so calm and firm, "Give them everything they want. Also, I want a name. Who is their source? I don't care how much they want."
"I just need a name."
