The basic academy has 6 ranks, each with 5 classes labeled A, B, C ,D, and D. In each class, there are 9 long tables, each with 3 seats, allowing for a total of 27 students. The classroom is set up with a black chalkboard at the front, a teacher's desk next to it, and a locker for cleaning supplies at the back. The room is decorated with paintings, a wall clock above the blackboard, a calendar, and a class schedule board next to the door.
Today, with the start of the new academic year, every student who moves up a rank will move to the next class. Class changes are done according to the instructions outlined in the annual grade report book distributed a few weeks earlier.
In class 4-C, Poetica is reviewing the report book, which is planned to be returned to the teacher today.
"Conclusion:
General theory and knowledge, average grade: 90/100 grade: A
Theory and practice of magic, average grade: 83/100 grade: B
Theory and practice of martial arts, average grade: 75/100 grade: C
Congratulations, you are promoted to class 4-C."
Poetica sighs deeply while closing the annual grade report book on the table. She sits in the back corner of the class, contemplating whether her former classmates will come here.
In the new class, the atmosphere feels a bit strange to Poetica, who has just moved. The new faces that will be her classmates for the next year create an enthusiastic atmosphere. They meet or encounter new friends and chat with each other, except for Poetica.
Known as the princess of Bajalekat, Poetica, with her classy and fierce aura, makes other students hesitate to approach her.
Two people enter the classroom through the door, they are Waify and Cyka. Looking around the class and finding Poetica in the corner looking out the window.
"Poetica!" shouts Waify, startling Poetica who is lost in thought.
Poetica smiles and says, "Waify! Cyka! Are you in this class too?"
"Didn't I tell you, it's Cyka who's surprising." Waify replies.
Cyka and Waify sit next to Poetica. With Poetica near the window, Waify in the middle, and Cyka near the gap that separates the other desks.
"That's right, yesterday you passed the remedial exam, right Cyka?" Poetica asks.
"Yeah, I was helped by the senior who supervised the magic remedial exam." Cyka replies.
"Thank goodness for that." Waify says.
"So, we're together again." Poetica says happily.
Two students wearing light blue robes enter the class alternately, each carrying a chair and a small table and placing them in front of the teacher's desk before leaving the class.
A few minutes later, the teacher—Edele comes to the class with a student, Rozer.
"Everyone, take your seats!" Edele shouts.
The students obey, making the atmosphere quiet for a moment. However, their gaze is drawn to the unfamiliar face of the new student.
Both Rozer's aura and appearance are very unusual. Unlike other teenage boys with short and neat hair, Rozer's black hair is long, with longer edges hanging on both sides of his face and most of it tied back into a long ponytail behind his neck, making some female students fascinated.
Edele and Rozer stand in front of the class facing the students.
"All right, I will introduce the new student. He is Rozer Striem, from the Boszeven forest. He is a special-skilled child and is directly entering this 4th class." Edele says.
All the students are surprised by their teacher's statement and whisper to each other.
During the pause in Edele's speech, Rozer looks at other students who seem younger than him. He finds a familiar face waving at him, Waify. Cyka just smiles while Poetica intentionally averts her face.
"All right, Rozer, you can sit in front of the teacher's desk." Edele says.
"Okay." said Rozer, then he sat at the teacher's desk.
"Not there, Rozer, at the front of that desk!" Edele says.
All the students laugh and comment on Rozer's behavior.
"What's he doing?"
"He wants to be a teacher."
"Very unusual."
After changing seats, he thinks about what he heard and feels a bit embarrassed with his lack of experience.
Clap...clap...clap
Edele applauds and says, "Everyone calm down. Let's welcome him warmly and help him adapt to the Academy. Don't hesitate to help if he needs it."
"Okay, teacher!" the students say in unison.
After saying good morning and introducing his name, also written on the Blackboard. Edele instructs to collect the annual grade report books on his desk. Then, he distributes a piece of paper to each student.
Edele says, "Starting from this fourth class, you have to choose your preferred subjects and and circle the subjects you like on the paper I have given you." Edele says.
The paper contains a floor plan of the fourth-classroom and all subjects in the academy.
"I will go to the teacher's room. Think carefully about your future paths. Don't forget to write your name and seat position so that I can get to know you better." Edele says, then leaves the class carrying the collected annual grade report books.
After the door is closed, the students become excited and chat with their friends. Meanwhile, Rozer stays silent, thinking about his future path at the academy through the paper he is currently holding.
"Hey, you!" Poetica says, coming with Waify and Cyka. "What subjects are you going to choose?" Poetica asks.
Rozer looks at the three of them standing in front of him with the paper. And circles all the subjects on the paper with the pencil he snatched from Poetica.
"Don't you have any writing tools?" Poetica says with a high tone.
"No." Rozer says while handing back the pencil to Poetica, but she refuses.
"Just take it." Poetica says.
Waify looks at Rozer's paper and is surprised, "Are you choosing all the subjects?" she exclaims.
"Yes, because I don't know all of them." Rozer replies.
"Didn't you hear what the teacher said? Only choose the subjects you like!" Poetica exclaims.
"I won't change my mind." Rozer comments.
Poetica puts on a puzzled and strange expression at Rozer's impression. Meanwhile, Waify is amazed and says, "Truly, very tough."
Poetica looks at Waify and Cyka's faces and asks, "What subjects are you choosing?"
"I will choose citizenship education and magic." Waify says.
"I don't know yet. What about you, Poetica?" Cyka says.
"Maybe I'll just choose magic and martial arts." Poetica replies.
"Do you want to escape from soldiers again?" Rozer asks Poetica.
"Noisy!" Poetica exclaims.
Waify and Cyka smile bitterly, remembering that they met Rozer because they escaped from their respective homes.
"Why did you can skip a grade? Didn't you just register at the academy?" Poetica asks.
"Oh, the teacher already said that Rozer is a talented student. Yesterday I saw him practicing fighting with a senior from the knight class and winning. It was amazing. Didn't you see it on the field yesterday?" Waify comments.
"That's true, I took the remedial test with Rozer yesterday." Cyka says.
"He took the remedial test with you?" Poetica exclaims.
"Yes, and his magic skills are even better than ours." Cyka replies.
"Ah, I see!" Poetica says, feeling left out because she missed the information.
Edele comes and warns all students to sit back. Then, she asks those who have written their future paths to submit the paper to the teacher's desk. Edele goes around the class to guide each student who is still confused and explains in detail why they need to fill out that paper.
Through that paper, teachers can easily guide students to determine their identities and choose suitable extracurricular activities at the academy.
