Automatically, Jake started getting the blankets ready when they arrived at their spot. Molly twirled to herself a little as she looked up at the stars.
"What are ye doin'?" he asked a little incredulous after a few minutes.
She smiled as she turned towards him and held her hand out to him. "I'm not finished dancin' yet," she smiled. "Come on, join me. Please?" she beckoned.
Jake hesitated for a minute but eventually jumped off the bed of the truck and walked up to her. There was no one around but them, so there was nothing to feel embarrassed about. Molly took hold of his hands as she stepped in closer.
Night like this, wouldn't wanna miss, the moonlight shinin' on a long slow kiss. You could be the one I can get lucky with.
"What is it with this song tonaght?" Jake asked her, looking towards his truck. That was the second time tonight that he'd heard it.
"It's becoming a big hit. Stop complaining," she told him as she turned him back towards her, stepping on to her tiptoes to press a kiss to his lips.
You're the kind of find that I can't deny. Gets me high, cross my heart, hope to die. Pick a star, make a wish. Yeah girl you could be me all night, dancin' in the headlights. Fairy-tale, good as it gets. If the boot fits.
"Sorry I didn't say earlier, but ye look very pretty tonaght," Jake said, pulling her in rather than twirling her like he'd done at the barn dance.
"Thanks. You scrub up well too," she said with a smile, trying to hide her blush. He went through her hair to cup her face before he leaned in to kiss her. Now that they'd gotten past the awkwardness of the first kiss, he couldn't help but to want to kiss her all the time. This could be a problem when it came to having to spend more time apart and to keep his hands to himself.
Let me show you how a country boy treats a lady. Oooh-ooh-oooh go ahead, kick em off coz the boot fits baby.
Eventually they did sit down on the bed of the truck with the blankets to keep them warm. Tonight the stars couldn't hold their attention for long as they talked and kissed on and off.
It was close to 1am before Molly realized that she should probably head home. Her sister was most likely already in bed, but there was a chance that she was sleeping very lightly or even still awake until she heard the door closing that meant Molly had arrived home safely. As she'd said that Hannah was going to drop her off, she had to use the front door. As soon as Jake had brought the truck to a stop, Molly scooched over to kiss him good night.
"I wish it were Monday already so I'd be able to see you again," she said a little breathlessly when she pulled back after a few minutes.
His arms around her waist were keeping her close and he was still a little caught up in the moment, so it took him a few seconds to catch on to what she'd said. "Wait, we're not seein' each other tomorrow?" Jake asked, sounding disappointed and a little petulant.
"Well I don't know how… What excuse would I use?" she asked back, her finger tracing his jaw line and ending up running her fingers through his hair. She watched him close his eyes, enjoying her touch, as he tried to think of how they were going to see each other.
"I don't know," he said helplessly, opening his eyes again and fixing them on her.
"On the plus side, it might make Monday even better," she suggested with a wink, at which he pulled her in for more, steamier, kisses. "I should get inside, saying goodbye to a friend would never take this long," she sighed ruefully as she pulled back, struggling a little as his strong arms didn't want to let her go. "Jake, I have to go," Molly said now. She could feel his arms slacken after another few seconds. "Can't wait to see you on Monday," she whispered now as she gave him one last kiss.
"Night," Jake said softly as she moved away from him to get out.
"Night," she said back and hopped out. She closed the door as softly as she could and gave him a wave as she made her way to the front door.
He returned the wave before he drove the truck away from hers.
