Eri sits in her living room, alone with nothing but a cupcake with a single candle in front of her to celebrate her birthday. She looks at her phone next by the cupcake, watching as the minutes pass by. It was late in the afternoon, the sun beginning to set. No one came to her birthday, causing an ache in her heart, she tries to keep her tears from rolling down her eyes, as she hugs her scruffed up teddy bear, the last gift her parents gave to her before they died in a horrible car crash.
Eri picked up the lighter on the table and lit the candle, then she started singing to herself...
"Happy birthday to you...happy birthday to you" her voice quiet and cracking with every verse.
"Happy..birth..day... dear Eri..." Tears run down her eyes as she uses her sleeves to wipe them.
She blew out her candle without attempting to finish the song, her heart sore and all she wants to do now was sleep and hide under her blanket, wishing the day to pass by.
A flash of light comes from her window, she turns her head and notices one of her classmates and with her friends recording her and snickering at her. She bites her bottom lips trying not to bawl her eyes out. She couldnt hear them but she could tell they were saying nasty things about her. A harsh, dark aura coming off of them, blinding her with fear, emberresment, and saddness.
She dropped her stuff animal and ran to the bathroom where no one could see her through any windows, as she bawls her eyes out and cries, leaning against the bathroom door and falling down to her knees.
After a while of crying, she was able to collect herself a little bit. She stood up and looked at herself in the mirror. Her hair coviering her eyes but she could still tell her eyeslids were swollen and watched as snot ran down from her nose. She washes her face, but she couldn't help but be overcome with saddness as she feels another beakdown coming up.
Then...the doorbell rings, catching Eri off gaurd. She quickly wiped her face with a towel then leaves the bathroom, slowly creeping her way to the front door. As she gets closer, wondering who it was, the door bell rang again, and again. Someone was really trying to get her attention now.
She doesnt see the girls at the window and she walks to the window to peek through and see who it was. It was...an unfamilar face, a boy with short black hair, with a blue bag, a cap, some cacky shorts on, who was wearing a simple black t-shirt.
She didn't know who it was and didn't know if she wanted to answer the door at the moment, but he looked around her age and suspected he was another classmate from school. Scared and skeptical to open the door, still upset from the encouter she just had. She decides that its best for her just to not answer and wait for them to leave.
But before she could walk away from the curtain, the boy turns his head towards the window, as he notices Eri, he gives her a warm smile.
Eri was hit with a flood of emotions she hasn't felt in a long time, as she could see and feel his aura now, it was warm, gentle, calm, and innocent. She could tell he meant no harm, and since he now knows she's here, she has no choice but to let him in, is what she was thinking.
She walks to the door and grabs onto the doornob. She hesitates a little, still worried about what could happen, but she sucked it up, she thought, it couldnt get any worse, and opens up the door.
As she is face to face with the boy, he is searching for something through his bag, he pulls out a card, an invatation.
"You are Eri, right? Im here for your birthday, Eri" as he smiles and extends the invitation. She slowly reaches out her hand and grabbed the card, and sure enough, it was one of her invitation she personally hand made and wrote.
She couldn't help but smile knowing that someone came here to celebrate her birthday with her, leaving her with a warm feeling inside her body.
