*Flashback
"Dear where are you going!" A younger-looking Monica nervously said, trembling while cradling an infant in her arms.
"I have to leave," A tall platinum-themed young-looking man said, sadness engulfing his hazel eyes.
"B-but w-why?" Monica asked, trembling as tears fell from her eyes like a broken dam.
"I have to go back," The man said with an anguished expression on his face.
"N-no, y-you can't leave. You can't leave your child, Lucas!" Monica desperately screamed, trying to find a trump card that would make her mate stay. But it seemed like nothing was working.
"You will take care of him, Moni. You'll be the best mother in the world" Lucas said with a sad expression on his face as he caressed his mate's face. He was dejected that he would not be a part of his son's life.
"Why?" Monica firmly asked, trying to keep herself on her feet.
"They shouldn't know. You and our son won't be safe. They will see to it that you are out, they hate you, our son is not an exception either" Lucas explained desperately, tears cascading down his face, his clenched fists trembling violently.
"Why!" Monica screamed out, her legs giving out as she fell on the petals of roses around them in their cabin's garden, a distorted mess she was.
Monica had always wished for a happy home. Since she was little, she had always dreamt of having a loving mate, a son or a daughter, a cute little cabin where they would all live together, and a medium-sized garden full of roses in the cabin's backyard. She just wanted a happy home. When she found her mate, she was the happiest person on earth- her mate was calm, loving, caring, understanding and ethereally handsome. Years of being mated, they had little to no problems or issues; a few months ago, they got their bundle of perfection, River. Nothing could be more better than this. But it all changed when Lucas started having these visions, visions where he saw his mate and child brutally killed before his eyes; he kept shouting and pleading in the nightmares but it always looked like he was watching a movie.
It pained him that he could not be part of his child's life. When he was younger, he had always thought of doing mundane things with his child when he had one with his mate. But what has to be done must be done.
He knew this was a sign, he's had visions in the past and all of them came to reality at the end of the day. He didn't want to lose what he cherished most in the world, but he had no other option but to leave them.
The hybrids were after them. The hybrids detest the creatures of light- the angels. They felt it was taboo to have a hybrid mated to an angel, a royal hybrid at that.
Well, the twisted belief of the hybrids was the only 'believable' excuse. All these are faux and he knew this, he knew something was brewing, someone manipulated his dreams so that he would be able to see the visions. Usually, Lucas can't see beyond what would happen in a few weeks, a few months at most. But in those visions, he saw a grown River and a tougher-looking Monica. It has to be a sign.
But, what if all these were just made up? Lucas never really saw the faces of these killers, what if this is just to cover the trace of the real traitor, the true invader? What if this was just a warning of what the future holds? He knows what he has to do. He has to send his family to a faraway and foreign land, go back to heaven, and find out who showed him these visions, and why the person showed him these visions.
He didn't know if he should take it as a good sign or a bad sign. Is the person a helper? or is the person an enemy?
'Why him?'
But who has the power to manipulate the dreams of an Angel?
Who?
"I'll be back" Lucas squatted down to his mate's level, cupping her cheeks in his hands as he stared deeply into his mate's eyes.
"I promise I will be back, it might take a while. Promise me you will wait for me, stay strong for me Monica, for us. Stay alive, keep our son well and I promise you that I'll be back" Lucas said in a firm but promising voice.
"What to do now?" Monica asked, a newfound determination seen across her facial features.
"I'll transport you and little Riv to a different part of the world entirely, you'll learn their culture and blend in with them. After your people have calmed down, go back to the royal palace, gain their trust, and claim the crown. Protect our son, don't hide who and what he is from him" Lucas narrated, pulling his mate back to her feet.
"What about you?" Monica said, her voice wavering a bit.
"Heaven. I'll be watching you and our son from up there" Lucas said, a sad smile embroidered on his face.
"Okay. You will come back for us" Monica said as she desperately searched her mate's eyes for any trace of doubt, but all she found there was a fire, a fire burning for her, a fire burning for his son, a fire burning for them.
"Okay. I'm ready" Monica said in a determined voice.
"I love you" Lucas whispered as he placed a gentle kiss on his lover's lips. He looked down at his son and bitterly smiled.
"He would be fine. I won't mention anything of this to him" Monica solemnly but firmly said.
"I know," Lucas said with a sweet smile on his lips, which in return made his mate smile
"And I love you too," Monica said, staring into her lover's eyes lovingly.
"I know that too," Lucas said, his smile becoming wider.
"Hey, little Riv. I love you very much too, help me take care of your mother" Lucas said, lovingly staring down at his son as he placed a kiss on the sleeping baby's forehead.
"Are you ready?" Lucas asked, looking at his mate in the eye.
Monica firmly nodded as she muttered with a determined voice.
"Yes"
