Chapter 12 - The Hyperactive Silver Head

"Lucifer," Sam muttered under his breath, finding it difficult to believe his eyes. Bruno got off Sam and turned to look in the direction Sam was staring. He gasped when he saw their mate standing there in the flesh.

Lucifer walked up to his mates with a smirk on his face, which melted Bruno and Sam's hearts.

"My mates," Lucifer smiled, opening his arms wide for them. Sam and Bruno quickly ran into their mate's embrace, tears streaming down their faces. Well, they were his babies.

"What took you so long?" Sam asked between sobs.

"We were so scared! We thought we would never see you again!" Bruno cried out.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Lucifer cooed at his mates, pecking the top of their heads alternately.

"You better be! You made Sam spend his rut alone!" Bruno screamed at Lucifer.

"Bruno, don't—" Sam was cut off by Lucifer's intense stare directed at him.

"Sam, I'm sorry," Lucifer said, tightening his arms around his mates.

"You'll make it up to us!" Sam whined as his cheeks flamed up in embarrassment, and Bruno supported him with a hum of approval.

"Of course, of course," Lucifer pecked his mates' puffy eyes alternately.

"Come sit," Lucifer ushered his mates to the couch where he had been sitting earlier. He placed both of them on his lap, and they buried their faces in the crook of his neck almost immediately.

"We missed you," Bruno whimpered, clutching Lucifer's cloak. Sam was not in a better state himself.

"I missed both—" Lucifer was cut off by Bruno, who suddenly raised his head and sat up from Lucifer's warmth.

"What's wrong, babe?" Lucifer asked, using his hand (the one not holding Sam) to caress Bruno's left cheek.

"Wh-where is my child?" Bruno trembled. Sam raised his head too, wide-eyed, as they both looked at their mate hopefully.

"We found the baby," Lucifer breathed out.

"I'll go look for Riv," Monica suddenly said, handing the baby in her arms to Damien. She left the drawing room without glancing back at the devastated mates.

"I-is t-that h-im?" Sam hiccuped out, motioning to the baby in Damien's arms.

"Yes," Lucifer grimly answered.

"He looks..." Bruno said with wide eyes.

"Off," Sam completed the statement.

"Yup, he's under two spells," Lucifer explained.

"What?!" Sam and Bruno screamed at the same time.

"Calm down, babies," Lucifer comforted his mates who were now a distorted mess.

He explained the whole ordeal to them after calming them down a bit.

River was soundly sleeping on the queen-sized bed in his room. He hadn't planned to sleep; he just wanted to see how soft the bed was, and the rest is history. He was softly snoring when he felt feathery touches on his face, causing him to flutter his eyes open. When he opened his eyes, he saw his mother sitting on his bed while stroking his face.

"Omma?" he croaked out.

"Drink some water; you sound like a frog," Monica teased as she gave him the glass of water she brought from the kitchen.

"I'm sorry; I slept off," River apologized, rubbing his eyes after he placed the glass cup back in the tray on the bed after gulping it.

"Lucifer is back," Monica announced, which in turn made River jump up from his bed; all traces of sleep vanished from his face.

He didn't bother to humor his mother as he bolted out of his room's door, leaving an amused Monica behind.

---

"Uncle Luci!" River screamed as he ran towards the drawing room, tracing the Devil's scent to the room.

Lucifer, who could hear his name with his inhuman ears, smiled fondly.

"Do you have any other siblings apart from me?" Damien suspiciously asked.

River ran into the room and without any thought, threw himself on Lucifer.

Lucifer was glad that his mates were already at the end of the couch, cooing at the baby, or else the hyperactive fluff would have crushed them.

Seems impossible with River's feather-like weight, though.

"Ruby, you've grown shorter!" Lucifer mused with an amused smile on his lips.

River let go of his neck and stood upright, straightening out his crumpled clothes with a cute pout on his lips.

"And you've become a father," River said, a genuine smile on his lips, enhancing his soft features.

"Trust me, it has been hectic," Lucifer dramatically replied.

"You are the Devil," River pointed out.

"That I am," Lucifer said, his proud smirk returning to his face.

River shivered as he felt something ominous lingering in the room. This didn't escape Lucifer's watchful eyes. Even Damien noticed this; he had been quietly observing the 'young girl' who just ran inside like a maniac with curiosity.

"Do you have an unknown sibling?" Damien asked again with his stern gaze on River.

"No? Where is this question coming from?" Lucifer asked, raising an eyebrow at his brother.

"Who is this child calling you uncle?" Damien asked, with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, that,"

"There's a cursed person in this room," River shivered, interrupting the brother duo conversation.

"Who?" Lucifer raised an eyebrow, as if he didn't already know who was cursed in the room.

"Well, apart from you, someone else in this room is cursed," River smiled, proud of his comeback, which made Lucifer roll his eyes. River's eyes glanced around as he looked. He didn't look for long before his eyes landed on the baby in Sam's arms. He walked towards the baby and asked:

"May I?" Sam quickly gave the baby to River; he knew River was their only ray of hope.

"Oh my!" River gasped at the baby's cuteness.

"I know, right," Bruno said with a proud smile.

"He's so cute, and he has Sam's eyes!" River squeals.

"His eyes are closed, Riv," Sam said, shaking his head.

"Of course," River absentmindedly replied.

"So, can you break the curse?" Bruno asked, with hopeful eyes.

"Yes!" River happily squealed, cooing at the baby.
