Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 A Sad Reunion

Iris and Levi tried helping the people of Dawnville settle in, they had help from the soldiers and maid servants assigned to them by the Prince of Curtis, Crowned prince William. They helped set up tents, and when that wasn't enough they'd make some of them live with other citizens of Curtis. This decision caused alot of the citizens to be offended but with a few pleas and intervention of the guards everything was settled.

Prince William took the royal family of Dawnville to the the king of Curtis. He led them to the dining room where the King of Curtis was seated.

"Festus"  the king of Dawnville, king James exclaimed with a smile,

"James, it is good to see you arrived safely" King Festus said with a smile. He stood up from his seat and walked up to give king James and gave him a hug.

King Festus had blonde hair just like his son William, but his was cut short, and his face was without any beards, unlike king James with his messy black hair and scruffy beard. King Festus looked to be in his forties, the same age as king James, he wore a normal white shirt and black trousers, and boots with his sword by his side.

"Please sit food will be served in a few minutes," King Festus said.

They sat round the dining table. It was a long polished wooden table with a blue cloth over it with beautiful designs, there were some plates and cutlery on the table. Food was soon served and they got ready to eat. The royal family of Dawnville sat and ate, although it seems that they didn't have much of an appetite. King Festus looked at king James and his family, he took account of the source mood and attempted to lighten it with a small conversation.

King Festus spoke up, "I know that you just suffered a great loss but you are safe here for now so please do away with the sour mood and eat a bit more alright."

King James smiled back in response.

"By the way where is Queen Felicia, and the little princess?" King James asked with a small smile, "i don't see them around"

"I doubt you'd call the Princess little when you see her again," King Festus answered with a chuckle "they went off on a little mother and daughter trip, they'll be back soon and then you can meet them."

"Aren't you going eat your food father?" Princess Kara asked, but king James only smiled at her and said , "enjoy your meal dear, I just don't have the appetite right now."

King Festus put his fork down and looked up,

"Give yourself a chance to relax James we'll figure something out together" Festus said.

"I can't relax Festus, I lost everything, everything" King James said with pain evident in his voice.

"You still have your family James don't forget that, that should count for something." Festus repleid " look on the bright side, some of your people survived and your soldiers are still loyal to you, and besides you're safe here."

"And what if they come,?" King James asked with a fearful tone,

"You mean the army of Kingsland?" Festus asked "we'll worry about that when the time comes, okay for now just relax."

King Festus told a servant to lead them to their room. They had their bath and they slept.

Two days later

Early in the morning, even before the sun rose, a middle aged woman looking dishevelled, with scattered and messed up blonde hair, and a blue gown torn all over, and injuries all over her body, was dropped of by a man in armor riding a horse.

"Find your way" the man said in a deep voice, then handed her a letter. "Make sure your king gets it, and make sure he reads it, the fate of your City is in your hands." He led his horse by the cordeo then rode away.

The woman looked back at the man as he rode away on his horse. She knew these parts, tears ran down her cheeks and she started running. She kept running until she got tired, soon she got close to the gates of Curtis, the guards at a checkpoint noticed her, he drew his sword, but when she got closer he saw her,

"The Queen !" "It's the Queen" He exclaimed, he ran towards her, picked her up and carried her on his back, he told the other guards at the checkpoint while he ran with her to the gates.

King Festus was called, he was told it was an emergency that required his presence immediately. He got to the room he was called to, and the guards opened the door. When he walked in his eyes widened, his jaw dropped and he dropped to his knees as tears fell out of his eyes.

King Festus' eyes widened, his jaw dropped and he fell to his knees as tears fell from his eyes. Queen Felicia of Curtis, sat on a chair in the room with tears in her eyes, and when she saw King Festus, it fuelled her sadness even more.

She got up and ran towards king Festus, she threw herself at him and they were in each other's embrace for a few minutes.

"If only I'd been there" King Festus said "if only I'd come with you to the Crimson palace none of this would have happened" he said in tears,

"Don't say that my love, don't blame yourself" she said as she pulled away and held his face and helped him wipe his tears.

"How,.. how did you escape ?" King Festus asked with a confused expression,

"I didn't, " she answered " he let me go"

"Wha,what do you mean, what about our daughter, what about sarah" the king asked with fear evident in his voice.

Felicia pulled out a letter from a part of her gown,

"He asked me to give you this" she said as she handed him the letter that was already crumpled and stained, and he read it out loud.

"I'm merciful when I need to be, I know you took in the people, of Dawnville and it's king. You will surrender, and call me king, you will tell the king of Dawnville to say the same." King Festus trembled and read on,

"If he doesn't, subdue him and keep him prisoner in my name. If you do your daughter will be sent to you in one piece, if not….."

King Festus dropped the letter, when he was done reading it, his hand trembled and he looked at his wife. Queen Felicia looked at him fear in her eyes,

"Why have the gods abandoned us," she asked as tears rolled down her face, "what are we going to do now" she asked looking onto king Festus.

King Festus clenched his fists,

"We will do what we must.."
