Chapter 57 - Chapter 51- 18th Birthday

Rahua's POV

The whole village in a uproar because of incoming 18th Birthday from the Prince. I don't know much about him, but he has been in everyone's mouth. Everywhere I turn someone is praising him. There is even rumours that he is starting to develop a farming society of sorts where they will be farming for the whole village. What the actual F....!!

"Rahua we have two big orders, and also the birthday party of his Highness the Prince in four days.We have to make preparations for that too," Mother interrupts my thoughts, her voice filled with urgency. I love how she is thriving after her recovery, she looks younger and beautiful everyday, comes up with flavours ideas, she is just living her fullest.

"Rahua are you listening to me? " She says impatiently.

"Yes mother. I am here for all that you need, mother. " I say smiling.

"Alright, let's get to work. We'll have to work twice as hard these next few days," mother says, determination filling her voice.

As we busily get to work, I can't help but feel a sense of happiness, Father he is getting alot of work and requests for his skills in carpentry, Mother is so excitedly trying new recipes.

Saya has made her way to the tower to learn and improve her skills as a mage. Kira and the little ones are busy, more and more everyday, learning how to read and write. Kira is even teaching other small kids in the neighbourhood, that haven't started to work, the basics of ABCs. She seems to be enjoying.

But all this happiness gets washed away every time someone mentions the Prince. His sudden rise to popularity and his sudden involvement into farming, seems too good to be true, and very alarming to the original plot And with the arrival of a new princess from Mirantella, things may be getting more complicated.

But I can't let, this deviations from the plot

bring me down. I have a job to do, and I will do it to the best of my abilities, although it has nothing to do with the plot.

As the days pass and the preparations for the birthday party are in full swing, I find myself swept up in the excitement by mother's enjoyment and improved habilities.

Two days before the party I finally take a moment to breathe, as I walk through the park, my mind wonders to Damion. I haven't seen Damion for a while, I wish was with him, that I could see his smile, and his handsome face.

He must be also busy, with all the preparations for the Prince birthday, many nobels will come from all over the kingdom, in calebration of his birthday, so at this moment the security must be tight the knights must be working endlessly.

"Hello Miss Rahua." My skin starts to crawl at sound of his voice, I recoil my shoulders automatically. "You seem to be afraid everytime I greet you." Vital says.

"Lord Duke Vital, I didn't mean to offend you, is just unfortunate coincidences that I suddenly remember that I have to go when Lord Duke arrives. Just like now." I say trying to leave as smoothly as possible, but he grabs my arm, even his touch is gentle.

He pulls me closer, as I look into his face, a gentle smile greets me. If I didn't know any better this would make my heart melt. His eyes are so soft and gentle, I could swear that this man was being wronged in some way.

I turn my face to the side, this devil is trying to charm me. The question is why???? "I apologise, If in anyway I offended you Miss Rahua." He says gently to me, close to my hears. His voice is so deep, with a hint of sorrow that I blush.

Is he really the bad guy? I start to doubt myself for a second there. He really is. Even his fan fiction he couldn't even redeem himself from his Villain persona. No matter how gut Ceaser was, to him, on him and with him, is sociopath side in the end came out to ruin everything.

I pull my arm taking a step back. "No Lord Duke, has done nothing of the sorts, I am a lowly peasant, how could the Lord Duke offend me in any way?"

"I am glad, Miss Rahua. Today is a lovely day isn't it." Small talk, I see.

"Indeed." I try to be as direct as possible.

"If I am not intruding," You are, you truly are. "Would the Miss Rahua, take a stroll with me?"

WHY???

I put on my fake smile. "Gladly." What is happening, I am a side character, shouldn't he ignore me?

"I was surprised to see you at Lady Vilahna's tea party. " He says, I realised that my involvement with her is what probably is making him more curious of me.

" I wasn't really at tea party. Well I was at the tea party physically, but not part of it. I just had brought some Cupcakes over, and the lady invited me to stay a bit longer. Curiousity took over me and I accepted the invite, but everything was way too fancy for me. "

He starts to chuckle,"Miss Rahua is very strange" I smile back.

"I am used to hearing that." I must get myself together, this guy is pure evil and sociopath, this is just a facade.

"I understand now, the interest that Damion has shown you?"

What did he just say? How ... ?

"Do you know Damion?" I ask without thinking.

"You two are that informal with eachother, that's unusual." His voice had no hint of intrigue or manipulation but somehow felt wrong the way he said it.

I immediately feel a sense of unease at his words. How does he know about Damion and me? I try to remain calm and composed, not letting my emotions show. "I'm sorry, Lord Duke, but I don't believe it's appropriate for me to discuss my personal relationships, I am also, just too shy for it." I try to deflect the conversation, hoping he will drop the topic.

He raises an eyebrow, his smile never wavering. "Of course, Miss Rahua. I was merely making an observation. It's intriguing to see such a informal dynamic between the two of you, that's all." His eyes seem to penetrate through me, as if he knows something I don't. I can't let his words affect me. I need to stay focused on my role and not let myself get caught up in his manipulation.

Clearing my throat, I change the subject to avoid any further questions about Damion, I don't want him to involve Damion in any of his incoming problems. "Speaking of the birthday party, Lord Duke, I assume you must be quite busy with the preparations." I try to steer the conversation towards safer territory, hoping that he will take the hint and drop his line of questioning.

His smile widens, but there's a glint of something in his eyes that sends shivers down my spine. "Indeed, Miss Rahua, the preparations have been quite extensive. But I must say, I'm looking forward to the festivities and the opportunity to meet the Prince. It's not often that one gets to celebrate such a momentous occasion."

I nod, forcing myself to remain composed. "Yes, it's definitely an exciting time for everyone in the village. We've been working hard to ensure that the shop is ready for the celebration."

His eyes flickers, and for a moment a flicker of something darker crosses his face. It's gone as quickly as it appeared, replaced by his usual charm. "I'm sure your shop will be the talk of the party, Miss Rahua. Your family talent is well-known, after all."

Suddenly, someone pulls on my arms."Big sister there you are," Kira, grabs my arm. "mother has been looking for you, there's something urgent we must take care, ohh hello Lord Duke. I am sorry but we must go." She says letting go of my arm and bowing to him.

"Oh, it seems I have to be going." I say, eager to escape from his presence as I grab Kira's arm.

His smile fades slightly, but he nods understandingly. "Of course, Miss Rahua. I wouldn't want to keep you from your important duties. Until we meet again."

I give a polite nod and quickly walk away pulling Kira with me, eager to put some distance between us. "What happened, why does mother needs me urgently?"

"She doesn't, " Kira replies in a mischievous smile. " I knew you said that we should a avoid him at all costs, so when I saw you with him, I understood that you need saving." I hug her. She is my ride or die, so perceptive.

"Thank you Kira, I wouldn't know what I would do without you." I say kissing and hugging her. She laughs all the way.

As we make our way back to the shop, my mind is filled with questions and worries about Vital and Damion. My heart clenches at the thought Damion getting hurt because of the this man.

**

The day of the party arrives, and the village is buzzing with anticipation, everywhere I turn is decorated. The village is completely filled with people enjoying the the food and the drinks. Everyone in the village is dressed up in their finest clothes, all eager to catch a glimpse of the Prince and the new princess.

Well at least the party is shared with the rest of us, with free food and drinks for all, many families that have little to eat, are now filling their bellies.

*At the Palace*

I can't help but feel a sense of nervousness and anticipation as I make my way to the palace with Kira by my side.

As we arrive with our contribution to the party, we see how the palace has so many knights and maids running around to prepare to the party.

The grand ballroom is decorated with lavish ornaments, and the tables are filled with delicious treats and food from all over the village, the cupcake treats prepared by mother, will be set at a table close to the birthday cake. Mother was very happy, saying that was an honour.

As the guests arrive, dressed in their finest attire, I spot Lady Vilahna and Ceaser among them. Lady Vilahna looks stunning in her elegant gown, and Ceaser appears dashing in his formal attire. I feel a pang of nerves as I observe them from affar.

But to my surprise, Lady Vilahna greets me with a warm smile, she makes her away towards me. "Miss Rahua, it's good to see you again. I hope you've been well."

I return her smile, grateful for her kind words. "Thank you, Lady Vilahna. I've been doing well. "

Ceaser was looking around his gaze cold as usual, his eyes softening as he looks at Lady Vilahna. He suddenly walks towards us. I want to hide again, our last encounter was just too awkward to repeat.

"Hello lady Vilahna." He greets her. He turns to me his expression automatically turn cold." What are you doing here?" He says. I knew I didn't make a good impression, he really does treat me coldly. The real ML that only treats the FL nicely.

"Lord Marquess..., " Lady Vilahana intervenes.

"Ceaser" he says interrompting her.

"Excuse me?" Me and Lady Vilahna's both with a surprise expression on our face.

"Please.... Call me Ceaser." He clearly was saying that to Lady Vilahna but I couldn't help but blushing to his words as well. My oh my!! Having the first row to this moment almost makes my heart explode.

"I... I.." Lady Vilahna words fail her as she tries to process everything.

"And my question was not meant to be rude. Miss Rahua, why are you not together with other invitees?"

I am officially confused what does he mean?

"My family..... we are here to serve the cupcakes to the guests." I not sure of what to make of his question.

"I am sure the Palace has enough maids for that. You should get ready for the party. " He says his tone neutral.

I... Am speechless, by the looks of Lady Vilahna's face she is as well. "I... Don't have clothes for the party." I said.

"The Miss Rahua had when you were at Lady's Vilahna party."

"That's because, the Lady was so kind enough to provide me those clothes." I say feeling shy, for some reason.

"Lord.."Ceaser looks at her with a fierce gaze as lady Vilahna finally snapping from her original shock says, "Ceaser, Miss Rahua is obviously not prepared for the party, maybe something should be arranged for her." Lady Vilahna says.

"What was he thinking?" He grits between his teeth. Who was thinking what ? About what?? I hate not understanding what is going on. Ceaser calls one of the maids and says something to her that I couldn't understand as she looks at me and nods.

"This way Miss Rahua. " She says leading the way. I follow her looking back at Lady Vilahna and Ceaser.

*

As I look at myself in the mirror on the wall I barely recognize myself.

The dress is a beautiful ball gown, a vibrant shade of dark green and gold that complements my complexion. It hugs my figure in all the right places and flows elegantly as I move. The neckline is adorned with intricate beadwork, and the skirt is layered with delicate tulle, giving it a princess-like appearance. I do think this is too much, but I wish Damion, does get to see me dressed like this, I look fine!!

I can't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. This is the first time I've ever been dressed so extravagantly, and I can't shake off the feeling that I don't belong in this luxurious setting. But I push those thoughts aside and remind myself that I am here for a reason - I just don't which.

As I make my way back to the grand ballroom, I can't help but be captivated by the feeling, this dress the hairdo makes me feel like I am someone who belongs here.

"Lovely to find you here Miss Rahua." Vital appears before me as exit the room. He was definitely waiting for me. But how would he know I was here.

"Lord Duke, were you waiting for me?"

"Ahaha, yes I was told to take you back to the party." He smiled brightly "Ready for the birthday party and engagement announcement?"

"I guess..." I say trying to distance myself and dismiss anything he says to me.

"You don't sound that thrilled for the party." He says smiling.

"I am, meeting the Prince for the first time is always thrilling." Truth be told I am curious to see who this the chump is since he has been messing with timeline.

Vital's smile widens, and there's a glimmer of mischief in his eyes. "Yes, meeting the Prince is indeed a momentous occasion. But I must say, Miss Rahua, there are other things that can make a party even more thrilling."

I feel a shiver run down my spine as his words linger in the air. I know he's trying to elicit a response from me, to play with my emotions and manipulate me. But I refuse to let him succeed.

"I'm here to enjoy the celebration, Lord Duke," I respond, keeping my voice steady. "Anything beyond that is not my concern."

He chuckles, seemingly entertained by my response. "Ah, Miss Rahua, you continue to surprise me. But mark my words, there are forces at play here that go beyond a simple birthday party. And sooner or later, you will have to face them."

Before I can respond, he gives me his hand, leaving me no other choice but to take his hand, a mix of curiosity and apprehension swirling inside me.

I can't help but wonder what Vital meant by his words. What forces is he hinting at? And how do I fit into all of this? I don't like this feeling like I am missing something.

*

The room is filled with lively music, laughter, and conversation. The guests, dressed in their finest clothes, dance and mingle under the sparkling chandeliers.

I take a deep breath and enter the ballroom, trying to blend in as best as I can. The guests cast curious glances my way, and I can hear whispers. But I keep my head held high, determined to not let anyone's make me feel less.

I make my way towards the table where the cupcakes are displayed, trying to control the racing thoughts in my mind. I can't help but feel a sense of unease knowing that Vital, is watching my every move.

" Big sister, you... You look so beautiful, just like a Princess. " My heart is running wild with happiness, I try to calm myself down.

I try to focus on the moment, I look amazing, the head piece looks like a tiara matching the gold in the dress. I do feel like a princess. I can't stop smiling.

As the celebration progresses, I find myself socializing with Lady Vilahna and Ceaser. Kira is happly serving the cupcakes, as the guests compliment the flavours.

The atmosphere is lively, and the music fills the air, creating a sense of enchantment. But amidst the festivities, there is a sense of tension in the room, a feeling that something is about to happen.

Suddenly, the doors to the ballroom burst open, and a hush falls over the crowd. The new princess from Mirantella enters, her presence commanding attention.

She exudes grace and elegance, capturing the gaze of everyone in the room. She is drop dead gorgeous. She is breathtakingly beautiful, with long dark hair and honey complexion. I can't help but feel a pang of jealousy as I watch her, wishing to be in her place. I could see why did the Prince fell head over heels for her at first sight.

The whispers around start to fill the room. People were commenting how she entered alone without the Prince.

"Shouldn't they arrive together as bride and groom?"

"What is going on?"

"Shameful "

People will gossip and whisper about everything, no matter what they chose to do. I just role my eyes.

Once again, the doors open, once the princess has descended the stairs. I watch as the Prince makes his entrance, the room erupting into applause and cheers.

The Prince is just as handsome as everyone says, dressed in his finest clothes and wearing a charming smile. But he does looks familiar. As he descendes, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"Damion?" I say in a whisper.

He ... He is the Prince?
