Chapter 59 - Chapter 53 - The Invitation

Damion's POV

My birthday party is coming near, four days left, I have keeping myself busy with the farming society, the preparations are going smoothly, I feel we can start farming the land sooner than planned.

I haven't seen Rahua since that day we kiss. I.. really want make myself someone worthy of her, to be a man she would be proud of.

For a moment I let mind wonder into my memories with her, that kiss still lingers in my as a reminder of what I am fighting for, I keep thinking about her, I feel my body temperature rise, I can control my thoughts anymore as even they have a mind of it's on, my body starts to follow that train of thought I...

"Damion, do care to explain what is going on here?" Ceaser comes in my study abruptly without announcing.

I put my head on the table trying to get myself to calm down all the thoughts that until now were running wild in my head.

"Give me a second, please" I say trying to regain composure. I sit up straight, "please elaborate what do you mean."

"Why is your cousin Duke Vital everywhere I go to talk with the other nobels about the farming project."

"He offered to help, so we could contact more investors." I say still fidget in my sit.

"Why is he approaching all the one's I go after. I don't trust him Damion, there's something off with him. " Ceaser is someone normally collected, he keeps his emotions under control at all times, for him to say he does not like or trust someone is something that makes me wonder.

"Why don't you trust him, he has been helpful until now, he has mended the thin tread of trust between us and the other nobels after the rebels situation. " Vital has been talking with nobels in our regard to put them at ease, since Ceaser and I persecuted some of their fellow nobelmen, as they were found guilty for treason.

The aristocracy was shaken by that, until Vital come in to play they were still a little distrustful of us.

I can understand Ceaser's concern, but I can't help but defend Vital. "I know he may seem too involved, but I truly believe he has good intentions. He wants to see this farming project succeed just as much as we do. Besides, we need all the support we can get right now."

Ceaser sighs and sits down across from me. "Maybe you're right. I just can't shake this feeling that he's up to something. We need to be cautious, Damion. We can't afford to let anyone jeopardize what we've worked so hard for."

I nod in agreement. "I understand your concerns, Ceaser. We'll keep a close eye on Vital and make sure he doesn't have any ulterior motives. Our priority is to ensure the success of the farming project and the well-being of our people."

Ceaser looks at me, his eyes filled with some kind of respect. "Yes, you're right. We can't let anything or anyone get in our way. We've come too far to let it all crumble now."

I smile at him, grateful for his support. "Exactly. We will stay focused and make this project a success. And maybe, just maybe, things will work out with Rahua."

Ceaser chuckles . "Ah, so it's still about her, huh? Well, I hope for both your sakes that you can make it work. But remember, don't let your emotions cloud your judgment. We have a lot riding on this."

I nod, taking his words to heart. "I won't. I'll keep my priorities straight. But Rahua is worth fighting for, Ceaser. She's worth everything."

Ceaser stands up. "I can see that she means a lot to you, Damion. And you have grown alot in last few months. Just make sure you don't lose sight of what's really important. Now, let's get back to work. We have a birthday party to plan".

He suddenly turns, " Oh I saw her at Lady's Vilahna tea party, she was one of the guests. I found her wondering around in the garden."

"How was she?" I ask before I could process through my brain.

"She looked," he pause as to think what to say next it made worry. "Okay, but she acted strange!" I laugh inside, that's her usual self.

As Ceaser leaves, I cant help but to smile, because I know all this changes in me happened because I met her, and knowing that she okay, is enough for me at moment.

I will do everything in my power to make both the farming project and my relationship with Rahua a success. No obstacles, whether it be suspicions about Vital or anything else, will stand in my way.

"Cirius!" I whisper. He appears before me, his mischievous smile already on his face.

"Your Highness, what an honour to be called at this time close to your birthday, is it to give me my invitation." Damn it, I completely forgot about that.

"Actually, I wanted to ask for a favor. I need you to keep an eye on Duke Vital, my cousin. There's something off about him, and I want to make sure he's not up to anything that could harm the farming project or our people."

Cirius raises an eyebrow, feigning surprise. "My, my. Your Highness, are you doubting the intentions of our dear Duke? He has been such a helpful ally." I am not sure of what to make of his sarcastic tone, since Vital has been nothing but helpful.

" I want to trust him. But Ceaser has raised some concerns, and I can't ignore them. I need you to gather any information you can discreetly."

Cirius nods, his mischievous smile widening. "Consider it done, Your Highness. I will become the Duke's shadow, invisible and ever watchful."

"Thank you, Cirius. Your loyalty is always appreciated," I say sincerely.

He bows dramatically. "Anything for the future King and the success of the kingdom. Now, let's get back to my invite."

I chuckle at Cirius' playful nature.

"I have another letter I need you to deliver." Cirius looked distressed for a split second, before taking the letter in his hand.

"Your Highness there is something we must talk about." I looked at him waiting for his words.
