Nazmi stirred awake. She winced at the sudden jolts of pain that ran up her spine with her movement. It took her a moment to reorient herself and glance around to remember where she was.
"…Right."
She had fallen asleep beneath the bedroom window, leaned up against the wall. Nazmi's entire body felt exhausted, which only served to prove just how poorly she had rested.
A troubled mind led to a troubled body, that's what her father had always told her.
Thinking of her father brought to mind the troubling emotions that had kept her up the night before, and she felt the familiar ache in her chest again.
Nazmi took several deep breaths and stilled her tumultuous mind. Sulking and regretting would lead her nowhere. She needed a plan, one that didn't rely solely on the vain hope that Willow would teach her useful skills that could help her escape.
