Place: The Cafeteria in Shensai highschool
Time: 6 PM
Heavy rain drops collided with the thick glass window making a clapping sound. The atmosphere turned cold and filled with noises of rain as well as chatterings of students.
Behind a group of noisy girls, a tomboyish girl sat down on a chair all alone. There were goosebumps on her arms so she tightened the blue coat around her skinny body while rubbing her palms together.
"Do you know what I read yesterday?" She could hear one of the girls utter loudly.
"Lemme guess. Mmm... 'Yandere Male lead, Please let me go'?" A girl with reddish brown hair answered.
"How do you know?" The first girl asked in disbelief.
"It's the most popular romance webnovel these days. It even won the first price of WSA. So it wasn't that hard to guess."
"Smart. And of course, you are correct."
"I also finished reading it." Another girl with spectacles happily joined in.
The tomboy girl didn't want to pay attention to what they were talking. But they talked too loudly so she didn't have a choice but to listen to the entire conversation unwillingly.
It was annoying and torturing. She was never a fan of romance novels. She even hated the Idea of romance. She never believed in the word called, 'Love'. Simply, to her, it was nothing but a stupid concept.
Her belief in marriage was as long as a person could adjust to live with another person for years, then that was enough. Why the need to seek love? A marriage with a suitable partner was what she thought of more mature. Only naive and stupid people would do anything for love and marry for love.
'Does it even exist?' Sometimes, she wondered.
She knew that as a highschool teenager, she was expected to act naive. But how could she do that? She couldn't pretend.
She knew her mindset was more similar to a middle aged auntie nevertheless, she couldn't help thinking like that. In short, she was mature compared to the girls around her age. Worst part was, she didn't know that whether it was a blessing or a curse.
She never dated anyone. She only paid attention to her studies and she didn't regret it.
Who would waste their time on useless things?
"Minosha, what do you think?" A sudden question broke her reverie.
"What?" The tomboy girl blurted out. "I couldn't hear you."
"I asked you about the villainess. Do you think she deserved her punishment or not?" The reddish brown hair girl repeated.
"Villainess? But... I didn't read that novel. So I have no idea," Minosha truthfully answered.
"Gosh girl!" The nerdy girl shook her head in disappointment. "You must read it. Or else what are you living for?"
"Yep. She doesn't even have a boyfriend. I think she is aromantic." Someone chimed in.
"That's a pity."
"Hey, did you guys notice it? The villainess's name is kinda similar to our Minosha's name right?"
"Princess Mimosa, Minosha... Yep. Wow! That's true."
"But they are completely different though."
The girls continued to talk about the villainess. This time, Minosha actually did pay attention to the talk since the villainess had somehow a similar name to hers. Thus she became curious to know what happened to her in the story.
When she got to learn that the villainess became a beggar and lived the rest of her life miserably, she completely lost interest in that story.
She didn't want to listen to them anymore. Not that she liked it from the beginning but now she even hated it.
Despite the heavy rain, she still stood up to leave.
"Where are you going? It's still raining heavily." The girl with glasses asked, worried.
Minosha gave her a smile saying, "It's fine. I have an umbrella. I'll slowly walk."
Then without wasting another minute, she quickly left.
Looking at her departing figure, reddish brown hair girl suddenly questioned, "What if she transmigrates to that story and changes the villainess' fate? Wouldn't it be incredible?"
A girl with black hair shrugged her shoulders. "It's impossible. Such things won't happen in real life. Even if it happens, I hope she won't destroy our main couple's relationship."
"How could she? We are talking about Minosha, guys! I'll eat shit if she falls for someone. Let's not talk about the male lead."
"But our male lead can make anyone fall in love with him."
"Yeah. But still... The point is The crown prince would never fall in love with a boring, aromantic tomboy for sure. It's ridiculous."
Minosha, who had no idea about what the girls were talking about behind her back, left the school and started walking along the road, carrying her black, not-so-big umbrella.
On the way, she spotted a flower shop. Hoping to buy some flowers for her sick mother, she went there, not caring about rain.
While she was busy choosing some white orchids, from the corners of her eyes, she could see a little girl around seven or eight years old, carelessly crossing the road, chasing after a puppy. On the other direction, a black racing car was coming towards the little girl super fast.
It seemed like the driver couldn't control his vehicle. Maybe it was due to the bad weather.
Panicked, Minosha didn't even have time to think clearly as she ran towards the girl like a wind before pushing her to the other side, saving her.
Then she also tried to hop towards the opposite side of the road.
However, it seemed like the luck wasn't on her side.
She was late.
The car bumped into Minosha, showering her with her own pool of blood.
'Damn! My mom is waiting for me.'
It was the last thought appeared in Minosha's mind before it went completely blank.
-------
The moment Minosha opened her eyes again, she found herself in an empty space. There was nothing around her.
She felt so relaxed therefore she looked down to see what was the problem with her feet. Then she realised they weren't touching a GROUND or any kind of a surface, she was simply floating in the air!
What the hell!
Minosha became terrified that she screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Calm down teenager." A robotic female voice sounded out of nowhere.
Before Minosha could ask anything, the voice continued, "Welcome here, Miss Minosha Rachelle! I'm the system who is in charge of the female transmigraters. I'm here to help you with your transmigration. First of all, let me tell you the reason for choosing you as a transmigrater."
Transmigrater, transmigrater, transmigrater...
What the heck was that?
Minosha's mind was in chaos. But she managed to listen to the voice patiently.
"You proved that you are a good person by saving a little child without thinking twice. However, your human life lasted only for sixteen years and we realised that it's not fair. So we thought of giving you a second chance to explore human world. But we checked your family situation and got to know that you aren't financially stable."
This time, Minosha quickly spoke. "It's fine, literally. I'm good at studies so I hope to get a decent job in the future and in that way, I can take care of my mother and myself. So I'm fine with going back to my world without anything. Just sending me back is enough for me. Thank you!"
Despite being a system, the female voice still chuckled softly. But it sounded weird to Minosha's ears and she became restless. She couldn't understand why it laughed. She wasn't kidding after all.
"Teenager, you are so impatient. Let me finish first. Then you can ask questions."
"Hmm."
Obviously, Minosha didn't have a good feeling about this thing. Her heart trembled with discomfort.
"I was saying... We found out that you are poor. So we are going to send you to a novel world. It's chosen by us hence we aren't gonna change it. The only thing you can decide is the way of living as the character we pick for you."
"Wait a second. You want to send me to a novel world?" Minosha was puzzled. "What kind of a novel is that? Do I know the characters?"
"Of course you know. We choose only the novels transmigraters are aware of. So they can adjust to it quite easily as they know the plot."
Minosha's mind did a quick analysis. Throughout her entire sixteen years old life, the novels she had read could count with ten fingers. She wasn't a good reader. She basically didn't read any interesting stories at all. Only books related to school subjects. So she had a brief idea that certain genres could be easily removed.
For an example, romance. She never touched romance novels.
Huh! What a relief!
What about ghost stories? Magic? Mystery? Zombie? Or crime?
Hopefully, she wasn't interested in those stories as well.
But she did read a Sherlock Holmes' story when she was like twelve or thirteen years old. Would it count? Nevertheless, she couldn't remember what happened there. So, she wasn't scared of becoming the culprit or maybe victim. Or Doctor Watson? Or Sherlock Holmes himself!?
No, no. She really couldn't remember that book. Fortunately or not.
Recently, she read a story about a dog and its master. That book was given to her by her mother on her birthday. Since she remembered that story, what if her character becomes Snoopy, the dog?
This thought made her face pale.
No way. That woman said about something like human world or whatever. So more likely, she would be the master of the dog instead. But she remembered that it was a middle aged man.
Would she swap her gender? That was a problem. She would even become a middle aged guy!
No. Swapping gender wasn't really a problem. She was naturally a tomboy after all. So, it wasn't really a big deal, not at all.
Only the age. How could she turn into a middle aged, mature guy so suddenly?
Maybe it was also not a problem. She had already been thinking of herself as an aunt whatsoever.
After preparing herself, Minosha curiously asked, "What's the name of the book?"
The system: "Yandere Male lead, Please let me go."
Minosha: "..."
