Chapter 8 - Dungeons and Tower

Chapter 8: Dungeon and Tower

The world began to undergo a gradual transformation, marked by the appearance of mysterious portals. These sudden portals materialized seemingly out of nowhere, leaving the inhabitants of the world in awe and curiosity.

As more of those mysterious portals kept popping up, the government began to realize how big of a deal it was. They decided to do something about it to figure out what it all meant for the world.

The government paid special attention to people who were slowly gaining these amazing powers. They decided to give them a new name: "awakeners." This name was all about these folks realizing their unique abilities and potential.

Now, the government saw the awakeners as both an opportunity and a challenge. They thought these people could help deal with the weird stuff happening because of the portals.

But they also worried about how to manage and guide these newfound powers.

So, they started talking about what the awakeners could bring to the table for society and the world. They knew these individuals, with their extraordinary abilities, could play a big role in adapting to the changes happening.

The government wanted to make the most of their potential while making sure they used their powers for the greater good.

The news is inundated with stories of the transported individuals who have gone missing, and it's becoming increasingly evident that those unfortunate souls were unable to return, having met their demise in the relentless battles against the goblins.

Among the survivors, a handful have bravely come forward to share their accounts of our experiences and to shed light on the impending challenges facing our world.

I guess we're being called "Awakeners" now. It's been three days since everything happened. When we returned to Ren's house, we were still really confused and needed some rest.

We didn't discuss it, but I think it's time to start making sense of what happened.

"I've been looking to my stats since I got returned, I guess I should start using the points I got." Von said.

I improved my dark magic skills, which is awesome. I increased my agility by 5 points, my strength by 4 points, my intelligence by 4 points, and my wisdom by 2 points. In my dream, I emphasized strength and agility as a blademaster.

However, I've also gained skills in dark magic now. When I reach level 10, I'll need to choose a class that suits my current abilities and playstyle.

I might have gained experience and combat skills from my dreams, but now I need to focus on expanding my knowledge, especially since I'll be using a lot of magic from here on.

Von still has 5 skill points remaining and is contemplating which abilities to invest in.

Ren had recently returned after being away, primarily because his mother remained in an unconscious state.

During his absence, he entrusted his mother's care to his grandfather, who had been his kendo instructor since his childhood.

Ren had successfully completed all the tasks he needed to address before he could shift his attention to the current situation.

"Von, what should we do now? Should we attempt to explore a dungeon?" Ren inquired, while seated on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the news.

The government had chosen a group of survivors to venture into the portal, given that regular individuals couldn't access it. After their exploration, they confirmed that it was indeed a dungeon, just as the angel had foretold.

The dungeons were proving to be a valuable means for the awakeners to enhance their strength.

They made attempts to explore the tower, yet it became evident that only the first floor was accessible, resembling a bustling village adorned with various markets catered to the awakeners.

Here, one could engage in the buying and selling of their dungeon loot and rewards. However, the rule remained steadfast: one couldn't ascend to the next floor unless they met the required qualifications.

Furthermore, once awakeners had begun to explore the tower, they found that quests were available to those who had proven their mettle and begun their journey.

These quests, often shrouded in mystery and danger, not only offered valuable rewards but also allowed individuals to delve deeper into the tower's enigmatic depths, uncovering its secrets one challenge at a time.

In addition to the markets, the awakeners had another avenue provided by the system – the auction. This allowed them to put their items up for auction, with the highest bid securing the coveted items.

"Yeah, we should explore the dungeon early, as things will get chaotic once the awakeners start forming guilds," Von exclaimed.

"Why? Are they going to restrict access to the dungeons?" Ren inquired.

"That's right. They restrict access for newcomers and may even recruit them or make them as a slave." Von explained.

"That's crazy. I'll just check my stats. How about we explore the dungeon tomorrow?" Ren suggested, all the while examining his stats.

Then, for the skills, what should I choose? I'm leaning toward learning magic.
