Chapter 10 - Hellhound

"Sorry, our party is full now. I can't bring another one because I can't promise I can protect all of them."

"Oh, is that so? I see, I understand." After her reply, Receptionist Lyn looked at Tim and said, "Too bad for you, Hunter Tim."

Tim replied and smiled faintly. "I appreciate your kindness."

"Don't get the wrong idea. I'm just doing my job."

"Yes, of course," Tim nodded.

He was about to inquire with her about the mission he presented but was distracted by the sudden appearance of three people.

Two females and one male. One of them called out Eile's name.

"Miss Eile! We are ready!"

"There they are…" Eile muttered and glanced at them. Then she returned her gaze to the receptionist. "By the way, Lyn, we are going for this mission," she presented a sheet of paper.

Tim noticed it was a D-rank mission.

Receptionist Lyn took it and put a stamp on it. "Here." She returned it to Eile after putting a stamp.

When Eile took it, Receptionist Lyn said, "Good luck with the mission!"

"Yes, thanks."

Before leaving, Eile looked at Tim. "Here take this." She suddenly handed him something.

Surprised, he looked at it and asked. "What is this?" Although he asked, he noticed it was a booklet.

"Might be helpful to you," she left those words before she left along with the other three.

Tim heard them talking about him as they were heading towards the entrance. One of them asked Eile who he was. Eile told her that he was a novice hunter like the three of them.

Another girl mentioned Eile was kind. Eile said she did it only for the association.

Soon their figures disappeared in the entrance.

Tim opened the booklet and discovered pictures of monsters and their abilities. There were also their weaknesses.

He looked surprised.

Tim failed to get the receptionist's approval for the mission he presented. But he didn't blame her.

Even though the association was not responsible if something bad happened to their hunters, her conscience was a different story. That was what Tim understood just looking at her. For that reason, Tim decided to give up on forcing her to allow him to do the mission.

In any case, that didn't mean that he would stop what he was planning beforehand. Using the free weapon the Association handed to their novice hunters, he continued on his plan even without carrying a mission.

He headed to the Desolate Area. His destination was the Southeastern Swamp Site.

Meanwhile, in Platinum City, at the house of the Arsch Family, Kyle Arsch reported to his older brother what the man with the redhead did to them.

"I will never forgive that idiot for what he did to my family member," Kurt Arsch said angrily.

"But brother, that person is an Awakened Human!" Kyle said.

"Really?"

"Yes, brother."

Kyle thought his brother would think twice after hearing that the enemy was an Awakened Human, but to his surprise, his brother even looked like he was excited.

"Awakened Human, huh? Hehe. This is good," Kurt whispered.

His self-confidence was high. And he didn't seem worried or afraid even when he found out that it was an Awakened Human who hurt his beloved little brother.

"I don't care if he is a god or a demon. He has to pay for what he did!"

Kyle was amazed at what he heard from his older brother. His brother was indeed a brave man. Really worthy of his position as the leader of the gang.

Kurt immediately ordered one of his men.

"Use our connection and investigate this person. Find out about him as soon as possible."

He threw a picture of a red-headed man on the table.

"Yes, sir!"

The man in a black suit left immediately after taking the picture.

In Kurt's mind, "Only fools would not retaliate. No matter how strong a person is, connections and money are far better."

Kurt smiled and his eyes twinkled. He touched his left eye which was covered with a black eyepatch.

It suddenly itched.

'I will show those Awakened Humans who the real monster is,' he said in his mind.

Leo's family also sent some men to investigate the red-haired youth who hurt their son.

Presently, Tim reached the so-called Desolate Area.

Traces caused by abandonment could be seen around. The buildings that could be seen around were dilapidated. Most of them were crushed and broken and those who were still standing looked very rundown, mostly eaten by green and dark moss.

The roots of the trees around grew and penetrated the dilapidated buildings and came out on the other sides.

The scenery around reflected humanity's defeat.

"This is probably what they call the Swamp Site," Tim whispered.

He had to jump on debris and chunks of broken walls to keep his shoes from getting wet with mud.

Whoops!

He jumped onto a large tree root and landed well.

He looked around. So far, he hasn't encountered a single monster.

Right at that moment, he heard a movement behind one of the trees.

He also heard the splatter noise of mud. Then a dark figure leaped in the air and landed on the mud.

Mud splattered everywhere when it landed.

The dark figure appeared to be a huge furry monster. It looked identical to a wolf. However, it had three red eyes and a pair of long sharp fangs. There were two long pointed horns protruding from its head towards its back.

The color of the monster's fur was dark blue, but on its head, there was a little grey, as well as on its tail.

When its eyes caught Tim's presence. It suddenly howled.

Aworrrghhh!!!

Before Tim noticed, it was already charging toward him. Its speed made his eyes widen in disbelief.

"Fucker! So fast!"

He had no time to grab the sword on his back and he could only jump away. He barely avoided the monster's charge attack. If he was half a second late, he would surely die by now.

He landed on a boulder. Sweat trickled his back.

He already expected that it would be very strong but he did not expect the gap would be this big.

"Hellhound… huh…" Tim whispered. Then he grinned. "Our fight will be legendary…"
