Chapter 12 - Not even magic can do it

After the notifications, unexpectedly, a sudden strong pulsation happened in his entire body. It was followed by an awful feeling as though inside his stomach was being burned. "Ha? Ugh!" Tim fell on his knees.

*Splash!*

Mud splattered.

He used his sword to support his body, but half of his body dipped in the mud.

"What is this pain? Ugh!"

His face contorted. Beads of sweat started pouring on his face then to the entire body. It was as if he had been doused with water due to the amount of sweat that suddenly came out.

He believed the cause of this pain was not due to the injuries he received. It was his stomach that felt like it was on fire. It was the first time he felt this kind of pain. This sensation was strange. He felt something burning inside him.

Fortunately, the assaulting pain only lasted for a short moment. He was thankful that it didn't last long. Because if it persisted longer, it would really be a big problem. The pain alone caused him to think he would die from it. Thankfully, his mind was very used to pain. But he didn't know if his body could bear it the same.

With the disappearance of the burning pain, a strange relief took its place.

Tim slowly stood up and was surprised by the wonderful feeling. "What is this? I feel like I got stronger all of a sudden!" He asked in disbelief. He felt he was stronger now than before.

"Huh? Even the scars and wounds on my body have also disappeared?" He examined his body curiously. But even if he looked at the parts of his body that had been injured, there was no sign of injury there. He also felt his muscles tighten and harden.

"I-Is this the effect of my leveling up?!" This was the only explanation he could think of for this strange phenomenon.

If this was really it, then it also meant that it would happen again once he leveled up again. His face suddenly frowned before taking a deep breath.

'Well, everything has a price. The important thing is that the result is good,' he thought.

He immediately checked his status and saw how much his stats had improved.

Each of his attributes increased by 10 points!

He didn't know but he was sure that even magic couldn't do it. Becoming stronger immediately right after getting rid of your enemy, not even magic could do it.

"Hehe. This is great! I don't need to rest anymore. I can go on. With this, I can bring back my prime state in no time."

He also checked the Beast Blood. As he read the description of the skill, his lips curved upwards.

He hadn't finished reading the description when he heard some rustling around.

"It can't be called a nest without a reason, huh..."

He picked up the sword lying in the mud right next to him. The Hellhounds slowly made their way out of the vicinity.

Tim frowned slightly at what he saw. He didn't think that there weren't just two or three hiding around, but five!

"Tsk! These cowards…"

He was sure they were just waiting for him to weaken from the injuries he had sustained. And when he weakens, surely, it would be easy for them to defeat him. But, unexpectedly, what they expected to happen did not happen. So that's why they changed their plans. Now they were using their advantage in numbers.

One of them immediately jumped at him.

Hawr!

Claw marks trailed in the air towards Tim's face. Jumping to the right, he dodged it at the last second.

Tim was surprised at his new speed. With a simple move, he immediately saw an opportunity to hit the enemy. But he didn't do it because he felt death coming from behind.

The second monster jumped up behind him to catch him by surprise.

Hawr!

"!!"

The monster was surprised because it only bit an empty air. Tim jumped high and swift in the air. In just an instant, he was immediately above the monster.

"When your feet are strong, your jumps are high! You should know that!" After saying this, he landed on the monster's back and used it to jump away from them.

He could exploit that opportunity to stab the monster's back, but he didn't do it. He couldn't be careless.

The three monsters that didn't attack yet looked at him as he seemed to fly into the air away from them. He landed on the diagonal pole.

If he had done this action earlier, he was sure that he would not have reached the pole. His strength and speed earlier could not handle the height he jumped at this moment.

"Tsk. It's difficult to attack when there are many enemies, especially if they are stronger than you."

Unfortunately, the pole started to fall. Maybe because it was so old, it had lost its once proud vigor.

Before he was completely taken along with its fall, he jumped over the nearby wall surrounding the rundown house. On the other hand, the pole fell followed by mud splashing.

He made a quick inspection of his surroundings. It looked like this area used to be a residential area, according to his observation. The place where he fought the first Hellhound earlier seemed to be a former vacant lot.

This time, he couldn't step on the mud because there were protruding spikes.

'What are those? Tree roots?'

He wasn't sure but they were scattered around and they looked very stabbing.

In this condition, he must lure them.

With the speed of the monsters, one of them immediately reached him.

It jumped towards the top of the wall where Tim was. The wall was only 10 to 12 feet high, so the Hellhound could easily reach it.

A big part of the wall collapsed though because the monster just crashed straight into it. Good thing he jumped on the roof of the house.

The next two Hellhounds jumped to the wall and jumped again onto the roof of the house.

Tim took the opportunity and attacked one of them by countering it. A long wound on the side of a Hellhound immediately appeared. Dark blood could be seen flowing from the Hellhound's wound.

"The most effective attack is the one when your enemy did not expect you to attack!"

Awrrk!

It growled like a dog in pain. Due to the wound it received, it lost its balance and fell onto the roof, causing the flimsy roof to collapse and the injured monster to fall below.

Awoo!

Awoo!

The two Hellhounds who attacked him first, howled as they were approaching hastily. The one that crashed into the wall shook its body to get rid of the mud sticking to its fur.

The other one who jumped at the same time as the other also fell down along with it after the collapse of the roof.

'These monsters have no awareness of the things around them, especially if they have been consumed by their anger. And because they have no awareness, they also have no control over the strength they release.'

Tim was aware that everything around him was very old. So just a little bit of weight and force you apply to your legs could cause them to collapse.

That said, everything around him was a good trap for these monsters.

He immediately aimed at the one who crashed into the wall earlier and stabbed it in the back before its other companions could get close.

These Hellhounds were smaller compared to the Hellhound that he fought earlier. They were also weaker, but that didn't mean that Tim was stronger than them. They were still stronger but the difference in their strength was not as wide as the first Hellhound.

His sword sank into its skin and flesh. He didn't give it a chance to recover and killed it before the others could help it.

[Level Up!]

Ugh!

As he suspected, he was attacked by unbearable pain when he leveled up.

This wasn't good timing for his current situation. The other Hellhounds were already approaching him!
