Chapter 8 - A quest from amos the tree-man.

"I'm such a genius!"

After packing up the alchemy room and dragging her tired body to lie on the bed, Charlotte's heart was still full of accomplishment.

The success in refining the hemostatic potion made him more confident in running a good clinic.

Today's workload, though, had made him acutely aware that the clinic was in dire need of a hard-working, capable assistant to take care of the chores.

After paying the rent and stabilizing the operation, he would consider hiring an assistant if there was still money left.

Before closing her eyes to sleep, Charlotte looked at her attribute panel.

The wealth value remained stable at 4,323, and the fifteen silver coins he spent in the afternoon did not deduct the wealth value, which was consistent with his previous deduction.

And he also possessed a special skill - Hemostatic Potion Refining.

What made him most curious was the experience bar, he was currently a beginner, if he brushed up his experience value to 1,000 and reached intermediate, would the concocted Hemostasis Potion also turn into an intermediate Hemostasis Potion with it?

What about brushing to advanced?

With wonderful visions, Charlotte went to dreamland.

...

The two gigantic kilometer-high lamps in the east and west make the bustling city of Karwar a city that never sleeps.

The white unicorn carriage slowly stopped in front of a gorgeous mansion, and a handsome man in gorgeous clothes, with his arm around a chimera with her breasts half exposed, walked out from the carriage, and asked the attendant at the side, "Did you catch that little girl?"

"Lord Viscount, we haven't found Vivian for the time being, my subordinate deduces that it is highly likely that she has already entered the abyss." The attendant lowered his head, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

"A bunch of losers! Can't even catch a little girl who only knows healing techniques." Karpath's face turned cold, and a ball of fire was already jumping in his palm.

The squire's face turned pale and he fell to his knees with a plop.

"Lord Viscount, this is Calva, don't forget the Lord Duke's advice before he left." An old man cloaked in gray robes came up from the back, and with just a glance, the fireball in Karpath's hand went out.

"Count yourselves lucky." Capas lowered his hand and added, "You go to Carroll, the Abyss is his territory, tell him to pull that girl out."

"Yes!" The valet was like an amnesty and immediately got up from the ground and flew away.

Capas walked toward the mansion with his arm around the chimera, the gray-robed old man following him.

"Lord Viscount, your trip is for Miss Elizabeth after all, you still need to be careful with your words and actions within Calvary City, the importance of this marriage is clear to you." The gray-robed old man glanced at that chimera.

"Go wait for me in my room." Karpas patted the chimera's plump ass.

The chimera departed with a sense of humor.

"Uncle Bill, father asked you to protect me and spy on me in the meantime." Capas looked at the gray-robed old man with a helpless face and said.

Bill didn't pick up on that and turned, "Carroll is not a man to be trusted, and the ledger would be a troublesome thing for the Duke if it fell into the hands of the Judson family."

"Don't worry, borrowing a hundred guts from the Judson family he wouldn't dare to do such a thing, they've always wanted to sell magic pills to the Reims Empire, Carroll even came to beg me a few times over this matter, I'm giving them a chance." Capas grinned a grim smile, "If they can't grasp it, they know the consequences."

...

Charlotte was up early, yawning, but still couldn't bring herself to give herself a metabolizing potion of stamina.

He went out and bought two black breads at a cost of four copper coins, ate one to fill his stomach and kept one for lunch.

Poverty has given him a strong will to face desperate situations.

He cleaned the operating room before any patients came to the door.

A poor surgical environment can easily lead to postoperative infections and increased mortality.

As for those messy surgical tools, they were a bit of a headache for him.

Rusty hacksaws and scalpels are practically enchanted tornado blades, and anyone who can get off the operating table is a warrior.

Charlotte chose two of the shorter knives that were sharper and had fewer rust spots, did some sharpening and cleaning, and then sterilized them with a boil and sanitize method for backup.

"It's more of a chopping tool, not like a scalpel." Charlotte waved the short, half-pound blade in her hand, which was really awkward as a scalpel.

There was a dwarven blacksmith's store right on Baca Street, and when the rent was paid and there was money left over in her hands, Charlotte considered going to get herself a customized scalpel while she was at it.

His small goal now was to earn him ten thousand dollars first! Open the system mall and see what goodies are in there.

That said, this system can be awesome.

One mission earns two.

You can still spend the money you earn on both.

It's like a double pleasure!

Dang! Dang! Dang!

Just then, the door to the clinic suddenly shook violently, and the loud knocking sounded as if someone was banging on it with a siege hammer.

"What's the situation? Baca Street shouldn't be in a situation where a home invasion happens in the middle of the day, right?" Charlotte, startled, grabbed the magic charm and hid another short knife in her hand before carefully opening the door.

As soon as he opened the door, he was met with a pair of large, cloudy eyes.

Then there was a big face that crowded the whole door.

It was a face covered in grayish-brown bark, its features twisted together in pain, and its gaze erupted with a hopeful light the moment it saw Charlotte.

It's the tree man!

The tree man took two steps backward, and only then did Charlotte get a full view of the huge tree man that was over nine meters tall.

Although he had a tall body, this tree man was in a weak state everywhere, much of the bark on his body had fallen off, revealing withered branches, his right arm was broken, and there were traces of being burnt at the broken arm, but these were stale injuries.

He covered his throat with his left hand, looking unusually pained, and when he saw Charlotte staring at him, he hastened to point his finger at his open mouth again.

"Choking on a foreign object?" Charlotte quickly realized what he meant.

Tree Man nodded immediately.

[DING! Amos the Tree Man has issued an urgent quest to you: remove the foreign object choking him! Reward: Copper Coins x 100!

The system's voice followed.

"When choked, one should immediately use the Heimlich maneuver, encircling the patient from behind, clenching a fist against the lower edge of his ribs between the navel and his belly button, and pushing upward ..." Charlotte looks at the tree man's massive form and stops to reminisce.

Apparently, no one present, including the surrounding neighbors who had come out to see what was going on, was able to so much as administer first aid to the tree man.

"Tree people choking to death is a rarity."

"What are tree people doing in the Abyss if they don't stay in the forest? This place is not at all suitable for tree people to survive, they can't even get sunlight."

"Can I cut some wood back to burn later? The family is just about out of firewood."

The onlookers whispered without much pity.

Charlotte didn't have time to feel the warmth of the people in the world, and looking at the tree man's huge body, the head that was close to one story high, and the mouth that looked like a big door when it was open, had a new thought and shouted, "Hang your head down, I might be able to just help you get the foreign object out."

The Tree Man is close to suffocation, is in a somewhat manic mood, and is gradually losing control of his body.

But at the sound of Charlotte's voice, it was as if she had grabbed the last straw and crept down in the direction of the clinic, her huge face squeezing back up to the clinic door.

"Open your mouth!" Charlotte said.

The tree man opened his mouth as if it were an open door, able to easily swallow an adult human in one gulp.

A strong fishy odor came in, like a sewer that had been cellared for eighty-two years, an unspeakable sourness that made Charlotte subconsciously cover her mouth and nose.

The huge open mouth was so pitch-black inside that nothing could be seen.

The visibility of the Abyssal Senshi was clearly not enough to illuminate what was going on in the Tree Man's mouth.

Charlotte turned to take an oil lamp from the wall behind her, but a few moments of hesitation rose in her heart as she looked into the pitch-black maw of the abyss.

He was no more than a mortal body now, and if he stepped into the mouth of the tree man and he suddenly went crazy and out of control, the probability of death would be extremely high.

Ho-ho--

A weak sound came from the tree man's throat, as if it were a leaky bellows, and his torso began to tremble uncontrollably.

The situation is critical and cannot be delayed any longer!

"I'm coming in!"

Charlotte, carrying her oil lamp, looked into the huge pitch-black mouth and took a step into it.

The inside of the tree man's mouth wasn't as slimy as one might expect, and Charlotte palmed the oil lamp and headed inside.

"The wear and tear on these teeth is atrocious! A mouth full of teeth should be replaced!"

"Oral health is a concern and needs a complete cleaning!"

Charlotte spat as she rolled over her half-meter high brown teeth, ignoring the various plant fibers and bits of meat left between them, and climbed up her whitish tongue towards the depths of her throat.

He had to find the foreign object stuck in the tree man's throat and try to remove it.

There was an extra person in his mouth, and the strong sensation of a foreign object made it impossible for the giant to keep his mouth calm.

The restless tongue, the chattering teeth, and the wriggling mouth lining were all dangerous to Charlotte.

Soon Charlotte rolled over the tip of the tongue and stood on its root, holding the oil lamp in her hand toward the depths of the pitch-black throat, which was a dark, narrow channel sloping downward.

"Hi there."

Just then, a ghostly voice came from deep in the tree man's throat, echoing continuously in the narrow mouth.

The voice that appeared so strangely frightened Charlotte's hands shook and the oil lamp nearly flew out of her hand.
