Chapter 18 - It’s a private relationship

After driving for a few minutes, Carlos pulled over and stepped outside to open the door for me. As I got out of the car, I said, "Thank you, Carlos," and gave him a slight courtesy. The light from the building was bright, causing me to close my eyes for a moment.

Standing outside of a very big five-star restaurant, the front of the building is a sight to

behold. The entrance is framed by two massive lion statues, and an elaborate fountain

is present in the center of the lawn outside.

The elaborate design of the restaurant is truly remarkable. The stone walls of the

building are adorned with intricate carvings, and tall columns support the structure. An

elevated outdoor dining space can be found on the side of the building, offering a

spectacular view of the surrounding area. The restaurant's outdoor garden is also filled

with a variety of flowers and plants that create an aesthetically pleasing environment for

patrons to dine in. Overall, the appearance of the restaurant is truly spectacular,

befitting the standards of a five-star establishment.

"This way, ma'am," Carlos directed me, diverting my attention from admiring the

stunning scenery before me. Carlos then accompanied me to the front desk, where he

handed the receptionist a card to which she redirected us towards a specific direction.

As we walked through the restaurant, I subtly scanned the area and pretended to act

composed and elegant. The truth was that I was tempted to explore every corner of the

restaurant and examine every feature of the decor and architecture.

The interior of the restaurant was truly spectacular. Crystal chandeliers hung from the

high ceilings, glinting as they caught the light. White tablecloths covered the tables, and

silverware and decorative plates were carefully placed. The restaurant's interiors had an

elegant, upscale and luxurious feel to them. Plush carpeting which I knew would feel

soft underneath my feet, and the walls were adorned with detailed artwork. It was

apparent that a lot of attention had been paid to the appearance of the restaurant, to

ensure it was a true oasis of elegance and comfort.

Each corner of the restaurant was meticulously designed, with each feature carefully

planned to ensure a sophisticated and unique dining experience. The atmosphere here

is both relaxed and stylish, creating the ideal setting for a truly upscale dining

 experience.

I followed Carlos swiftly, with class and style. The stares I received from others in the

restaurant made me feel somewhat nervous. 'Better not fall,' I whispered to myself

under my breath before regaining my composure and following Carlos closely.

Carlos guided me towards a door tagged 'VVIP.' He informed me, "Mr Romanov is

waiting for you inside, ma'am." As I entered, my heart picked up its pace, the excitement

and anxiousness making me feel flustered. As if noticing my presence,Alex stood up

from his seat and approached me, greeting me with, "Hey Angel, how was today?" my

face turned bright red. He called me, 'Angel,' I repeated to myself in my mind, utterly

 flustered by his words.

He guided me towards a small dining table in the corner. Seated on the chair closest to

the head chair sat a middle-aged woman who I suspected to be Alex's mother. I took the

seat across from the lady, and Alex sat down at the head chair.

"Mom, this is my fiancée, Layla," Alex began, introducing us both. "And Layla, this is my

mother," he indicated with a smile. I smiled, nodded, and greeted Alex's mother, "Good

evening, Mrs. Romanov. It's nice to meet you, I've heard a lot about you."

"It's nice to meet you, too," Alex's mother replied, peering at me for a moment before

turning her attention back to her son. "I didn't know about you until yesterday either,"

she chuckled before adding, "But he definitely has good taste."

Grinning at Alex's mother, I was completely thrown by her words and blushed lightly,

feeling more flustered by Alex's gaze from across the table. "Why thank you," I replied

with a light blush, "You're too kind, and we met" I chuckled, trying to deflect the

 awkwardness I was feeling.

Feeling Alex's gaze while talking to his mother, I felt myself becoming more flustered. I

blushed as I attempted to pretend like nothing was unusual, focusing solely on our

 conversation.

"It's a private relationship," I explained to justify Alex's lack of disclosure about our

'relationship'. "We don't want the paparazzi getting a whiff of such information," I

 clarified.

As we talked, a waiter approached us, handing us the menus. I looked them over in

confusion, as I didn't recognize most of the dishes. 'This is about to get embarrassing,' I

muttered to myself, afraid that I'd make a fool of myself for not knowing how to order.

Finally, Alex spoke up, observing that I appeared flustered. He suggested, 'I see you're

having a hard time deciding, why don't we get our usual?.' 'Oh, thank you,' I sighed,

relieved. 'I wanted to try something new, but nothing beats our favorites,' I replied in

 agreement while playing along.

Alex flagged down the waiter and placed our orders."

"So Layla," Mrs. Romanov said, drawing my attention. "You mentioned your father is a

 businessman?"

"Yes, ma'am," I confirmed. I preferred not to talk about my family as it made me feel

bitter and angry. "I would like us to work together in the future. That would be great."

"We look forward to it," Mrs. Romanov replied. She took the opportunity to inquire about

how we met and other similar topics.

As our food was served, my mouth began to water.

"Let's eat," Mrs. Romanov suggested as we waited for the waiters to serve up the

 meals.

While eating, I suddenly felt like I needed to vomit. I tried to hold it in but couldn't, so I

said,"I need to use the bathroom," I informed Alex, to which he signaled a waiter to

come over. "Show my lady to the bathroom" he told them, and the waiter complied.
