When she woke up, Jennie looked around the room curiously at the walls, the floor, and even through the crack. It was unsettling how creepy the dream was; what she saw was even more creepy. As she got herself ready for school, she couldn't help but let her mind wander. Every new move or task she began throughout the day, she wondered what the dream meant.
As she walked from the home and prepared herself to go to class, she couldn't help but wonder what was on the other side. She chose the side that she heard, and she heard the voice. What if she went to the other side? Her brain was curious. The two men she saw and the altercation were creepy enough. When the man looked at her, Jennie's body shook as she reimagined it. She tried to think of better thoughts as she made her way down the hill and closer to the university.
Dreams don't mean anything, but sometimes they do. She continued to walk with a puzzled look while Kai watched her carefully behind her. His soft eyes couldn't help but wonder what was on her mind. He watched as she continued to think, her head moving from one side to another while she thought. He continued to try to lag behind, finding some enjoyment that she was deep in thought.
He watched as they approached the school as she stood at the entrance. He began leaning against the brick wall, his eyes watching her with admiration as she continued to carry on with her thoughts. The closer it got for class to begin, she slowly crept her way to the building. He hoped those thoughts might be for him, but he wasn't sure. She had not checked around for him or attempted to text. He sighed, pressing his lips in disbelief as she continued to think heavily. He smirked, getting a little jealous as he moved closer to her, and she didn't take notice of him. It was cute.
Kai let his body softly bump into Jennie's as she turned and tried to continue to pace, running into him and barely acknowledging it. She looked up at him, seeing his soft smile, but she didn't make the reaction he expected. Jennie locked eyes with Kai; his smile was welcoming, but she couldn't take her eyes away from him. Kai watched her eyes curiously scan his face and then stop, staying in a specific area. Her eyes began to grow, throwing her back into deep thought as she tried to process.
"What?" He chuckled, curious at her reaction.
"Uh, nothing." Jennie turned, wanting to move to class. She started her walk to the lecture hall, making Kai walk slightly faster to catch up to her.
"That didn't look like nothing." He spoke, trying to understand. He walked alongside her, watching her pull herself into reality. She stopped, planting her feet firmly on the ground as she looked into his eyes.
"Nothing, I'm just-" She sighed, pushing the hair from her face as she thought momentarily. "I was just thinking. It's nothing." She smiled reassuringly towards him before walking to the lecture hall.
"Hey," He called out, Kai jogging to catch up with her. He stepped in front of her, prompting her to stop before she ran into him. "Are you sure?" He asked, her face looking up to meet his.
"Yeah." Jennie lied, running her hands through her hair before she walked off.
Kai watched her leave, following close behind her. Jennie sat in her usual seat as the two entered the lecture hall. Kai sat beside her, watching as she pulled everything from her backpack. He wondered what was on her mind and longed to listen to what she was thinking. He let his hand support his head as he leaned on it, watching Jennie open her notebook and search her bag. As she pulled out a pen, Jennie let the pen twirl between her fingers while she stayed in deep thought. She hoped he wouldn't notice her wandering eyes that were beginning to look towards Kai consistently.
Many things were on her mind, but she couldn't say much to him yet. As the class started, Jennie went about her day while Kai wondered what she was thinking about. She hadn't given him much attention this morning, and he wondered if she was upset about the incident. His mind drifted away from the class and more about what he might have done to distract her like this. Jennie was actually trying to focus on everything else beyond her thoughts; the inner turmoil was eating her up. Her brain was slowly draining at the thoughts, her eyes watching the professor.
She tried not to think about Kai sitting next to her, her eyes darting from the professor to his hand resting on the top of the table. Jennie continued to take notes, hoping to leave the classroom before Kai could stop her. She tried to brainstorm excuses in her mind, thinking about the best way to tell him. As Jennie tried to think about avoiding talking to Kai, Kai wondered how he could get her attention. He wanted to bump her a bit or tap her desk, wanting her gaze to stop on him. He just wanted confirmation on whether she was upset and the opportunity to fix it as soon as possible.
With the class ending, both began to fill with anticipation for the next conversation they could have. As the professor closed the lecture, the two began to flicker their eyes awkwardly at one another. Jennie stood when the professor dismissed the class, reaching down to pick up her things and pack her bag. Kai sat for a moment, watching her pack her bag. He wondered why she seemed to be in a hurry while everyone else began to leave casually. There wasn't a rush to get to the next class, but it was definitely suspicious.
