Chapter 40 - Crown

Violet, ever serious and focused, fixed Rudy with a sharp, piercing gaze. "Who's the king?" she asked, her voice cutting through the room's sudden silence.

Rudy grinned widely, his eyes alight with excitement. "Who said anything about a king? We've got a queen right here. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you… our most noble queen, Erika, the 69th ruler of Vanchett!" he declared with dramatic flair, pointing toward Erika.

Erika, who had been observing carefully from the sidelines, immediately shook her head. "No… I'm not interested," she responded quickly and firmly. "Mike's much more suited to be king. I'll just be the commoner who criticizes the king." She shot a serious look at Mike, who could only smile, honored by Erika's trust in him once more.

"Hold on... friends, let's first decide if our nation will even be ruled by a king," Mike interjected, trying to calm the swelling excitement.

"Well, I think a monarchy is the simplest system, with an absolute king holding all the power. What do you all think?" Erika replied, her gaze sweeping across the room, seeking approval.

Chen, usually quiet and thoughtful, raised his hand. "Hmm… I agree because Erika said so. Honestly, I don't really know which system of government is best," he admitted, his tone frank.

From the corner of the room, Vivi suddenly called out, "Why don't we ask Zoe?"

Zoe, the AI always at their side, appeared on the screen with her neutral, ever-present smile. "What would you like to know about governmental systems?" she asked in her soft, even tone.

Mike stepped forward, approaching the screen. "Zoe, what are the pros and cons of an absolute monarchy compared to other systems of government?"

Zoe processed the question for a moment before replying. "An absolute monarchy grants full power to a single ruler, allowing for quick decisions without bureaucratic delays. However, this also carries risks if the ruler is unwise or corrupt. On the other hand, systems like republics or democracies allow for broader citizen participation, but decision-making can be slower and more complex."

The students fell silent, contemplating Zoe's explanation. Erika seized the moment to speak up again. "What if we create a hybrid system? We could have a king as a symbol of power, but also a council of advisors elected from the people to ensure fairness and balance."

Mike nodded in agreement. "That's a solid idea. The king would lead with wisdom, but the advisory council would provide guidance and oversight. What do you all think?"

One by one, hands began to rise. They agreed with the proposal. The hybrid government system seemed like the best solution to ensure justice and efficiency.

"Alright, it's settled. Vanchett will be led by a wise king, accompanied by a council of advisors elected from the people. Now, let's move on to assigning the other tasks," Mike said, his energy rising.

Erika nodded, relieved that they had finally reached a consensus. "Zoe, help us draft the structure of this government. We need a clear diagram and descriptions," she requested.

Zoe got to work, displaying a stunning diagram on the screen, outlining the responsibilities of each component of the government.

"The king will lead with wisdom, issuing decrees and making critical decisions. The advisory council will offer counsel and oversee the implementation of policies. They will also have the right to veto decisions deemed harmful to the people," Zoe explained.

With a clear government structure in place, the students moved on to defining other aspects of their nation. The Woodcarving Technique class students had laid a solid foundation for their nation. They knew the journey ahead was long, but with the cooperation and spirit they had, Vanchett would become an extraordinary country.
