Chapter 41 - Eight Hearts

The D'Lobby buzzed with the fervor of the Wood Carving Technique class as they spilled their ideas over the design of their nation. In the vast room, a long table stood witness to the myriad concepts shared by each member of the class. A holographic map now stretched across its surface, depicting the outline of their nation.

Mike studied the map intently. The lines shaping their territory resembled the lungs of some mythical creature, bound together as one. They had already completed the flag and national emblem; the next challenge, however, loomed larger: deciding how to divide their nation's territories.

Before him, the noise of excited conversations echoed across D'Lobby. Mike felt stuck at this point, unsure of the best way to manage the division of land. He glanced at Erika, seated calmly beside him, seeking guidance in her tranquil expression. Approaching her, his eyes were filled with hope.

"I'm a bit lost on this," Mike confessed hesitantly. "Does anyone know how to divide territories? Surely you understand this, don't you?" His voice was laden with expectation, as if Erika could be the guiding star that would lead them through the fog of uncertainty.

Erika merely shook her head, her subtle gesture dimming Mike's hopes further. His gaze shifted to the others in the room, only to find the same confused looks staring back at him.

Sighing deeply, Mike realized they had no choice but to ask for help. "Alright," he declared more firmly, "Zoe, can you explain this to us?"

Zoe's calm, emotionless voice filled the room. "Territorial administration is the division of a nation into regions for easier management and governance. Each region typically has clear boundaries, determined by geographic, demographic, and political factors. In your case, I suggest dividing the land into districts to simplify administration."

The rough map reappeared on the hovering hologram, now scaled more clearly. Their territory spanned about 800,000 cubic meters, a measurement drawn by Irvan.

Irvan, standing near Mike, beamed with pride as he gazed at his handiwork. "Lucky for us, our land isn't too large," he said with a sly grin, trying to hide his satisfaction.

But Vivi, always quick with a retort, couldn't resist teasing. "It seems like our land's pretty small compared to the others. Nice try!" she nudged Irvan playfully.

Irvan, ever clever, shot back, "Ever heard of this? 'Big targets are easier to hit.' So, you should thank me."

Laughter rippled through the room, a welcome breeze in the midst of their struggles. Beneath the joking, however, Mike knew they had to make a decision soon. The lines on the map needed to be shaped into territories under their leadership.

"Alright," Mike declared firmly, staring at the map once more. "We'll start by dividing the districts. Zoe, how many districts do you recommend?"

Zoe, efficient as ever, responded, "Given the current size of the land, five districts should suffice. Each district can have a unique focus or characteristic that distinguishes it, yet they should remain interconnected harmoniously."

"What about eight?"

After a long discussion and occasional heated debates, they finally agreed to divide the land of Vanchett into eight districts. Each would carry its own distinct traits and character, reflecting the diversity that would be the new nation's greatest strength.

Mike, looking increasingly burdened by the enormous responsibilities they were taking on, rubbed his face in weariness. Yet, there was a glimmer of satisfaction in his eyes, for they had reached a consensus at last.

"Alright," Mike said, his voice rough but resolute. "Eight districts… It's our responsibility now. We must ensure fairness in all we do. Zoe, sketch the map with these eight regions, and we'll assign each district its unique characteristics."

Zoe, tireless in her precision, immediately set to work. On the holographic screen hovering above the table, a new map emerged, now neatly divided into eight sections by fine lines. Each district varied in size and shape, yet they fit together seamlessly, like pieces of an intricate puzzle.
