Chapter 1 - Academy City.

The Magic Continent.

A sizable continent, spanning an area equivalent to that of Africa.

It was also a hidden continent.

One located in the middle of the vast ocean, far away from the other continents.

It was surrounded by powerful magical barriers that prevented non-magical individuals called "Mundanes" from stumbling upon it.

The exact coordinates and how to access the Magic Continent were closely guarded secrets known only to those with magical abilities.

The continent also boasted beautiful coastlines with pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Within this continent, there were pockets of energy concentrated in Ley Lines, which were paths of magical energy weaving through the land.

Meanwhile,

In the spacious interior of a luxurious limousine, a young man, barely nineteen years old, reclined lazily in his seat.

With his legs casually crossed and his posture exuding nonchalance, he held a phone to his ear, engaged in a conversation with someone on the other end.

"What's the point of coming to this academy anyway? It seems like nothing more than a waste of my precious time."

An extremely handsome young man.

Spotless skin, beautiful black hair and blue eyes.

The spitting image of competence.

The voice on the other end of the line responded.

It was an authoritative voice.

"As a Demon Lord Contender, this academy holds immense value for your growth and preparation," the person explained.

"How, exactly, old man?" the young man retorted.

In response, the person on the phone suddenly exploded with anger.

"Shut the fuck up and learn to listen!"

As he shouted, the sudden force of his voice causing the young man to flinch.

In that moment, a sharp cracking sound echoed through the phone, accompanied by a cry of pain from the old man.

Startled, the young man's voice now carried both annoyance and concern.

"Don't forget, old man, you have a hernia," he shouted into the phone's speaker, obviously frustrated.

After a brief pause, the old man on the phone finally managed to compose himself and offered some semblance of an explanation.

"Just trust me, going to this academy is the best thing for you."

It was an advice the young man blindly had to follow.

"Alright then, if you insist," the young man acquiesced.

He abruptly ended the call before carelessly tossing the phone aside.

Just then, the driver's voice broke the silence.

"Sir, we've arrived at Lyronia Academy City."

As the limousine veered off the straight, empty road, the young man's gaze shifted towards a sprawling metropolis of skyscrapers that seemed to reach the heavens.

There were straight skyscrapers and even spiral ones.

Several unorthodox architectural masterpieces.

People of various ages and walks of life filled the streets.

They went about their daily routines, adding life to the bustling city.

A soft sigh escaped the young man's lips as he took in the sight before him. "Ah, so this is Lyronia Academy City," he murmured.

Lyronia Academy City.

It was situated on the outskirts of the small coastal town of Alverton, in the country of Fittoa.

Alverton was known for its scenic beauty, with lush forests, rolling hills, and a picturesque beach.

The Academy City was governed by a council consisting of prominent magical academicians, local government officials, and the academy's board of trustees. The council ensured the smooth functioning and development of the city. The administrative headquarters of Lyronia Academy City was located on the academy campus, where decisions regarding academics, security, and city-wide events were made.

Soon after,

The limousine glided to a halt in front of Lyronia Academy.

The centerpiece of the city was Lyronia Academy, a prestigious institution dedicated to magic education. The academy consisted of numerous magical towers and buildings, housing classrooms, libraries, research laboratories, and living quarters for students and faculty.

The young man of proverbial disinterest, stepped out.

Greyson NewGate.

Clad in a sleek black sweatshirt, lollipop gently rotating in his mouth, and donning a pair of fashionable skinny jeans, he exuded a casual yet stylish energy.

A bag was slung over one shoulder.

Surveying the the academy before him, Grey nodded at its imposing size.

The pictures he had seen had done it no justice; the buildings towered over him.

A slight breeze tousled his unkempt locks as he muttered to himself, "This place looks even larger in person."

He adjusted his backpack.

"Huh?"

Something caught his attention.

It was a sizeable gathering of girls stationed at a large opening in the academy grounds.

Grey felt a twinge of apprehension.

"Itʼd be a hassle if they spotted me," he muttered to himself.

His piercing gaze wandered as he weighed his options.

"Where should I go now?"

Calmly, he contemplated his next move.

As he did, one of the six girls eagerly awaiting his arrival, caught sight of him and nudged her companion.

"I think that's him," she whispered.

Grey, caught off guard, let out a surprised "Oops," causing him to vanish instantaneously.

All he left behind was a spark of blue light.

Observing her friend's baffled expression, the second girl furrowed her brows in confusion.

"Didn't you just say you saw Grey?" she queried.

Nervously, the first girl faltered, "Yes, I thought I did. But now, I'm not so sure."

With a sigh of resignation, the second girl let her welcome signboard, inscribed with the words "Welcome Grey NewGate," drop to her side.

She peered at her friend knowingly.

"You must be delusional," she teased gently.

The first girl blushed furiously.

"I know you have a crush on him, but try not to let your imagination run wild."

Flushed cheeks betrayed the first girl's embarrassment.

She hastily denied the accusation. "That's a lie! I never said I have a crush on him!"

Unconvinced, the second girl leveled a knowing gaze upon her friend.

"Come on, there's no need to lie. To be honest, I wouldn't mind being his Miss if he asks me to."

"Wait..." the first girl was surprised. "Really...?"

The second girl touched her cheeks and smiled affectionately as she continued to daydream.

"Of course, he's rich, devilishly handsome, from a prestigious magic clan and he's also an absolute genius in the field of magic..."

"You're right," the first girl smiled. "He really is a genius..."

Meanwhile,

Grey surveyed his surroundings as he sucked on his lollipop.

"Hm, looks like I'm lost."

Grey continued to absentmindedly lick his lollipop as he looked around the unfamiliar surroundings of the elaborate forest.

His vibrant azure eyes narrowed slightly in frustration as he let out a sigh.

"Where'd Anna say I should go again?"

He'd already forgotten his way around.

Raising his lollipop to eye level, Grey scanned the forest once more, his gaze searching for any familiar landmarks.

The towering trees seemed to close in around him, their branches reaching for the sky like skeletal fingers.

A moment of silence passed as Grey closed his eyes.

He was contemplating his next move.

Opening his eyes, Grey let out another exasperated sigh.

"Damn, I got nothing..." he admitted.

Another thought came to mind.

"Maybe I should've followed those girls and their welcoming party. It would've made things much easier for me."

He mulled over this thought for a moment, his brows furrowed.

Just as his thoughts were circling in uncertainty, a crisp female voice pierced the air, snapping him out of his reverie.

"Who are you?"

The voice was devoid of any discernible emotion.

Grey's eyebrow arched in surprise as he turned towards the source of the voice.

To his astonishment, he found himself face to face with a girl, her camcorder pressed dangerously close to his visage. Her plain expression and deadpan voice only added to Grey's bewilderment.

"Eh?" he managed to utter, confused.

Undeterred, the girl repeated her question.

"Are you deaf? Or perhaps lacking the intelligence to understand language?"

Still, her voice lacked any emotion.

Her camcorder remained fixed on Grey, capturing his perplexed expression.

Turning to face the girl fully, Grey took a moment to appreciate her unique appearance.

Her striking blue eyes were plain and attractive, while her long silver hair cascaded down her back, matching the sunlight. Her figure boasted enticing curves, and her black and white academy uniform only accentuated her allure. It was easy to notice her short skirt and matching popsocks.

Caught off guard by her bluntness and proximity, Grey struggled to find his words.

"I... um... My name is Grey NewGate," he finally stammered.

In his thoughts however, he was still trying to figure out who she was.

'Who is this chick...?'
