The Dreamwalker
It was a quiet afternoon in the village of Shantiniketan. Bishnu lay daydreaming in a field, gazing up at the clouds drifting lazily across the sky. One cloud in particular caught his eye - it was shaped like a great bird, with wings outstretched as if ready to take flight. As Bishnu watched, a feeling of drowsiness overcame him. His eyes grew heavy and slowly closed.
When Bishnu opened his eyes again, he found himself no longer in the field, but floating high among the clouds. He looked down and saw the village far below, the tiny houses and people like specks from this height. But what amazed him most was that he seemed to have taken the form of the cloud-bird he had seen earlier. He could feel the wind beneath his wings and sense the air currents all around.
Bishnu discovered that by thinking of a direction, he could steer his cloud-body there. He flew all around the village, gazing down at rooftops and treetops. No one below seemed to notice the boy-turned-cloud drifting overhead. Emboldened by this new ability, Bishnu decided to venture further. He flew across fields and forests, over rivers and hills, exploring the vast landscape from his aerial view.
As the sun began to sink low in the sky, Bishnu realized it was time to return to the field where he had first closed his eyes. He willed himself to float back on the wind. When he again opened his eyes, he found himself once more in human form, lying in the long grass as evening fell. But the memory of his wondrous dream-journey would stay with him forever, reminding him that there are more things between earth and sky than what we see with our ordinary sight.
