The Wise Teacher
There once was a teacher named Lao Zhang who taught at a small village school. He was known throughout the village for his wisdom and patience with his students.
One day, a new student joined Lao Zhang's class. His name was Li Hua and he often got into trouble. He talked back to the teacher and disrupted lessons. No matter what Lao Zhang tried, Li Hua did not seem interested in learning.
After many failed attempts to get through to Li Hua, Lao Zhang decided to try a new approach. Instead of punishing the boy, he asked Li Hua to stay after class one day.
"Li Hua, I have been your teacher for many weeks now and I feel as though I do not truly know you. Why do you act out in my class?" asked Lao Zhang.
Li Hua was surprised that the teacher wanted to understand him instead of just scolding him. He opened up about his difficult home life and feeling left behind in his studies.
Lao Zhang listened patiently and said, "I want to help you succeed, but you must be willing to try. From now on, come to me anytime you need extra help or just someone to listen. Together, I believe we can turn things around."
Li Hua agreed to make an effort. With the teacher's support and encouragement, his behavior and grades improved greatly.
The moral of the story is that understanding and compassion can be more effective than punishment. A wise teacher seeks to help all students, not just the easiest ones.
