The elves gathered.
Right in front of them was Luminis, a deadpan expression on his face as he examined the faces of the elves staring back at him.
Elixa was standing at his side, his human grim reaper on his left and Alpha behind, trying to peep from the back.
'I can't believe I'm actually doing this.'
Luminis thought to himself, he had already accepted to take up the role as the village's chief, but he had no idea how he was suddenly going to lead a bunch of grown elves.
The mummers in the crowd began to rise, almost like they could tell exactly what was about to happen.
Garion stepped forward, slapping the bottom of his staff on the ground to call the attention of the people.
"As we all remember, we were almost at the verge of getting wiped out of existence after we foolishly angered the god bird.
Although we were saved by the young traveler, his name, Luminis grayward, he is the man who gave us another chance to retone for our foolish act.
In accordance with the deal made with the god bird, Lord Luminis will take over as chief of this village, I am no longer fit to rule".
Silence took over.
Each elf staring at one another, it was clear they didn't take the news to heart.
Luminis sighed, 'I knew this was going to happen, it's not like they could just suddenly submit to a stranger.' He thought to himself.
"Chief, are you sure about this?" One of the elf asked, her hand raised.
"Yeah, he's an outsider, and not even an elf." Another spoke.
"B-But he was able to defeat the divine beast, no ordinary person can do that."
"Maybe now, with him in charge, we can drive those demons from ourland."
"That doesn't make him trustworthy though".
The elves began arguing amongst one another, each dropping points as to whether to accept Luminis as their leader or not.
Elixa watched their reaction with an immusing smile on her face, 'Oh dear, I didn't think they'd react like this… hehe, I wonder what you are going to do… master?'.
While all this was happening and Garion was trying to get them to settle down, Luminis was coming up with an idea.
'Hey Aril, need you'.
{Yes, what do you need?}
"Give me an update on this village's status, health, stuff like that, you can do that right?".
{Affirmative, request confirmed.
I have discovered a few problems causing rapid health issues in this village.
First is the lack of food resources, they lack enough nutrients to sustain themselves and hence are unable to gain healthy lives
I also detect that the village has only one source of water, used for both bathing and cooking, this is also a cause of their health issues}.
'They cook and bathe with the same water? It's no wonder they look so skinny, is typhoid not a thing in this world?'
Luminis spoke to himself,
'Is there any way I can fix this if I wanted to, you know, the health issues?'
{Affirmative.}
'Good let me have it'.
"That is quite enough." Elixa suddenly spoke, dying down the noise the elves were making amongst themselves.
"Do you have any idea what you are playing with?" She spoke, sending a chilling stare at the elves before she continued.
"Denying this man is denying me also, he is my master, or perhaps you are intuitating I chose the wrong person to serve as a divine beast?" Elixa asked.
"No no, of course not Lady Elixa, it's just …"
One the female elf stepped forward, her head bowed a bit in front of Elixa, she seemed calm as she spoke,
"Please do not misunderstand us Lady Elixa, there's no argument in the fact that the traveler defeated you in battle, he is indeed worthy to be called your master." She spoke, her voice filled with respect.
"Oh? So you agree?" Asked Elixa, a superior stare in her gaze as she stared down at the elf girl.
"Yes, that said …" The girl paused, stealing a glance at Luminis who seemed to be paying 0 attention to what was happening.
"Being strong doesn't determine him being a good leader," She uttered, "The chief has been taking care of us for as long as I can remember… true we didn't flourish, we also didn't drown, what's to say this traveler wouldn't make things worse for us? A good leader isn't judged by his strength alone".
"What are you getting at, girl?" Elixa asked, still carrying the same aura with every word that left her mouth.
"What's she's saying is, I have to prove my ability to lead, correct?"
Luminis voice echoed from behind Elixa, all eyes instantly turned to him.
"I would never…"
"No need to be shy, I'd do the same thing if a stranger suddenly asked me to follow him." Luminis uttered, but with a serious look on his face before a question followed.
"Take me to your water source".
"Our water source?" Garion asked.
"Yes, you need me to prove I have leadership sense right? Then take me to your water source."
Garion was surprised, but he didn't see any reason to refuse, "As you wish, I shall take you there."
"Good," Luminis turned to his grim reaper, "You, … just stay here." he spoke before walking away with Garion.
Some of the villagers including Elixa who was so curious it would have been eating her alive followed just to get a look at whatever Luminis was about to do.
'Once I'm done here… I'll keep at it until everything goes how I want, hell, I might actually like it here.' Luminis said with a smile on his face, while walking behind Garion..
