Chapter 12 - The god bird II

'How long before we get there?!'

[Notice: The target is just around the corner, about 2 km to your left].

'Yosh! Good!'

"Master? Where are we going?" Alpha asked, running beside Luminis,

"We are going to talk to someone, and possibly try to nab ourselves free food and clothes while we are at it." Luminis replied with a grin, his feet speeding against the ground.

A little bit farther from him were some of the elves, chasing behind him as fast as they could.

[Notice: We have arrived.]

Luminis's legs slid on the ground as he made a swift stop, his gaze turning in front him, where he could see a small altar, positioned right in the middle of two bird looking statues, they had strings of paper tied around it, each having magic energy oozing out.

"A shrine?" Luminis muttered under his breath, his gaze solely fixed on the altar as he moved closer.

[Notice: this is a confinement for the phoenix, the seal appears to be getting weaker, the creature is attempting to free itself, facing an S rank is a difficult task with your current strength].

"Hmm…."

Luminis stayed quiet for a while, staring at the altar, his hands slowly moving towards it when he suddenly heard one of the female elves call out to him.

"What do you think you're doing?! Get away from there!" She yelled, panting as she pointed at him.

Sato stole a glance,

"This is the god you spoke about, is it not?" He asked, both his eyes fixed on the elf girl.

"Y-Yes, but you shouldn't get too close, traveler, I understand…."

"I'll be fine, you guys should be the one keeping your distance." Luminis looked away, "Alpha, Valkyrie girl…"

"It's Isla."

"Yes that, you should also stay over there with the elves, I plan to fight if things go south, so I can't guarantee your safety if that happens." He uttered, his back turned to them.

"You realize how stupid this is right? If it's a god, even a lesser one, you have no chance of winning against it, but. I'm sure you know this… so why?" Isla, looking at him, her eyes pleading understanding.

"Let's just say, I had a little angel tell me I'll be fine." Luminis responded with a smile.

Isla's eyes widened a bit, 'This man is really stupid…' She whispered to herself in disbelief, with a slight grunt she walked away, dragging Alpha with her.

'Now then.' Luminis placed his full attention on the altar, 'Aril, Is it possible to communicate with the phoenix while it's still trapped in this place?'.

[Negative, the seal on the shrine cancels any and all magic interference from the outside, communicating with it via magic means is impossible]

'i see…'

Luminis sighed,

"Can't believe I didn't think to ask this before going through all the trouble… dammit,"

"What?! Finally realized there's no way to calm our ruler? Why don't you just give your friend to us and we will make good use of her." Orland spoke, a grin on his face as he laughed.

"Watch your mouth." One of the elf chimed in, throwing a stink eye at him.

"Not yet."

"Uhn?" Orland spoke, "What was that?! Speak loud…"

"I'm not done yet!"

Luminis immediately pointed at the altar, right in front of his finger, huge water bullets began to form, a skill he picked up during his time in the forest with Alpha.

"Might as well see what the fuck you all are so afraid of!!!" As soon as he yelled, he launched the bullet towards the altar.

The water bullets landed square front on the altar, each bullet cracking it until it crumbled to the ground, the seal sparkling after it was broken.

With that done, Luminis turned around, only to see the shocked expression on the faces of the elves, almost like they had just seen a ghost.

And then, one of the elves yelled,

"He broke it! He broke the seal! We're done for!".

Orland fell to his knees, his eyes widened in fear as he kept muttering to himself, "We're dead, we're dead, we're dead".

Luminis sighed, "You might want to walk away from here… there's not-"

Before he could finish his sentence, there was a sudden sound that resonated throughout the forest, it sounded like multiple bells were clinking against each other.

The sound of the bells began to affect the ears of those that could hear it, causing their ears to bleed and for their head to swell from the noise.

Everyone within the range of the shrine bell fell to the ground as they desperately tried to cover their ears to block the noise, some of them already falling unconscious.

Their screams filled the area, Alpha was even more affected since she had very sensitive hearings.

Even Luminis didn't escape the faith of this sound, he used his hand to cover his ear from the noise as he laid on the ground, his body was still in pain from the previous fire and the sound was only making it worse.

'Make it stop… Make it stop, Aril!'.

[Notice: The skill Sound manipulation has been obtained]

The noise suddenly reduced inside Sato's head, leaving only the scream of the elves and Alpha for him hear.

He stood up from the ground, panting heavily before using his hand to clean the blood in his ear.

'Thanks Aril, I have to hurry and stop the sound from…'

Out of nowhere, a loud screech echoed behind him, so loud trees uprooted from the ground and Luminis could feel his body rising from the hard surface.

And then, a full force of flame rushed towards him, the force sending him flying and crashing towards a tree.

[Notice: The skill Pain nullification has been obtained.]

'Damn you Hikari, you didn't tell me it was going to be like this…'

Luminis spoke in his mind, the fire burn marks on his skin slowly healing as he sat on the ground, his back resting on the tree while he looked in front of him.

There, in the midst of the smoke, he could see it, the giant red phoenix bird, its entire body covered in flames, nothing short of majestic.

It gave out another roar, one so powerful it made the ground tremble.
