Emilia believed in a cause, she believed in the cause her husband fought for and she fought with hum for that cause.
The world of awakened shouldn't be controlled by a single person who coveted eternal life. It made no sense that a single person should reign amongst humanity as some self proclaimed god.
It was the cause that took her husband from her and tasked her with only one assignment. To protect their only child at all cost. Even if it was at the cost of her life.
Hearing that they were not going to go after him until they were done with her was a relief.
Although she knew it was a cocky idea, but she was going to see it through.
'I will kill every single one of them without having to use my powers'
She managed to touch the tendrils with her gloved hand...
'I just need to create a blast with the residual energy in me'
Gathering what was left of her magic energy, she compressed it to one point inside of her and created a blinding burst of light that displaced the tendrils and sent its creator reeling.
As Emilia broke free from the restrain, she immediately couldn't move. It was as if the weight of the world was weighing down her bones.
She couldn't move but tried to shift her gaze around to discover its source.
Behind the leader of the assassin was another guy with an outstretched arm.
"Controlling gravity is a promising power. But this is far from being able to hold me down." She burst forward like an arrow shot by the storm. In a fraction of second she had scaled through the distance and even past the leader before he could react.
She grabbed the assassin's neck with one hand and with her gloved hand launched a repeated blow into his chest. The final one was more decisive than the former, she clenched her fist tighter, the glove rippling with electricity as she plunged it into the guy's throat. This had all happened in less than a minute before anyone could reach her.
With his crimson energy raging, the leader arced a punch from the side and sent her stumbling. Another swooped in from behind.
As he swung his fist towards Emilia, it erupted in flames. Intriguing her.
"Amazing, fire power"
She commented as she evaded the fire fist and instead sent a rippling blow to the guy's jaw.
The leader was able to land another punch to her side in that split moment.
The shadow manipulator came from beneath her, manifesting those annoying tendrils that now held her leg to one point.
Having her restrained, the leader lunged a fierce strike, the red energy surrounding his fist exploded, propelling his arm forward.
Almost blurring out his fist reached her but before it could go any further, it was met by her own fist, with the glove releasing a blast of crackling energy.
With the explosion of both energies, everyone was sent hurtling away from that point.
Emilia had sustained a serious injury on her arm. Her right hand was bleeding and the sleeve of her shirt had been completely ruined by the explosion.
It was now strenuous for her to put strength into the arm.
But hers was still bearable compared to the shadow manipulator, a side of his face had been chopped away by the impact of the explosion, it was because Emilia had sent the energy downwards (where he was at) in order to avoid majority of the explosion affecting her.
Of the four awakeneds that came to put a stop to Emilia's life, two were dead and one of them was a close friend of the leader.
His rage was tangible in the way he glared at Emilia from underneath his mask. Complemented by the hot air that surrounded him as his crimson energy erupted like a flame.
With voracious battle cry, the guy lunged at Emilia with his fist trailing arcs of his crimson energy.
His charge was met head on with her bruised hand, she couldn't gather so much strength around it bur she could still use it. Even though her battle capability had greatly reduced, the thought of withdrawing her energy from the seal she placed on Ethan's body did not cross her mind.
She was determined to get through this somehow and not at the expense of her son's life.
Their clash created a shockwave of energy that rippled through the air, shaking the ground.
The assassin's eyes widened for a moment as he saw a splendid azure energy like flames seep out of Emilia's body in the last moment. She couldn't draw put any more energy from the glove, the item had reached its limit.
It left him conflicted but his mind quickly drew back to the battle.
Their fist came together like a rattle exchange of machine guns. Each aiming to batter the shit out of the other. The Collison sent sparks flying, illuminating the sunset scenery with a dazzling light show. The temperature of the air skyrocketed as their powers clashed, and the air sizzled with the intensity of their battle.
Crimson flames danced and roared with an almost sentient fury. And the only survivor apart from the assassin leader could only watch as the two were locked in an intense battle.
He knew that an attempt to enter into it would cost his own life.
The assassin's fist swung in different patterns, yet all of them were equally matched by Emilia's resilient blocks, intermittently manifesting a little proportion of her azure energy to reinforce her bones as she blocked his strikes with her bare hands.
He swung his fists in an intricate pattern, that created fiery projectiles and sent them spiraling toward Emilia.
She twisted and somersaulted through the air, narrowly avoiding the searing inferno that followed in her wake.
Despite every joint in her body screaming for rest, she managed to avoid majority of the attack but sustained some serious injuries from two of the flame projectiles that sent her hurtling through the air and crashing the wooden demarcation of her house.
Emilia had chosen a house that was distant from other people in the city and surrounded by plantations. It was to avoid the gazes of people and unnecessary attachment from her own side.
It was also a good thing to avoid involving the humans.
She laid on the ground and writhed in pain as the leader of the assassins walked closer to her.
"I have been chasing you for the past ten years. Yet I have never seen you use your powers... however for the first time, I saw something different."
He pressed his leg on Emilia's bruised and bleeding arm causing in her to cry out as an electrifying pain surged through her whole body.
"You, you have not been using your magic power right? You have never used it once with us in a fight." He said, pressing his leg harder on her hand before stopping to hear her response.
Emilia scoffed, "it is not about you... I have never used my powers in fifteen years... but at the very least, I can gather what is left of my strength to do this..."
WHAM!!
