Today was the day the day when I will finally leave this godforsaken island. A year of suffering has led to this. The governor of the Liloia region (their region) will be arriving on his boat today. To collect taxes from the island. When he does me and Alex will steal his boat without anyone seeing. This is our one shot as if we fail, we will be hung. Now then I suppose I only have a couple hours until he arrives. I should get Alex and pack our supplies.
At my house I had prepared a map of the Azealia Empire. So, we could know where we were going. I think our first destination should be Rubio the closest out of the 16 major islands of the empire. There we could stock up on supplies and maybe work an odd job or two. I had also packed 2 swords one for each of us. Just in case things go wrong at any point which they might considering were stealing the governor's ship. And I'm not genius but I'm pretty sure that's a crime. Lastly, I had packed as much food as I could. But this probably isn't enough after all we only have small rations provided twice a day once in the morning and once at night. So, to get all this food I had to take it out of my already measly rations therefore I couldn't store much. Maybe we'll be fine though because me and Alex are already used to having little food this will be nothing new.
Alright next stop Alex's house his was just a couple houses away from mine. So, it didn't take long to see his blue door that I knew so well. I knocked and was greeted by his smiling face. "come on in" he said with a warming aura. "so todays the day huh" he said as I walked in, I said yeah. "so do you have everything we need?" he asked with an excited demeanor. Yeah look at this! I replied unable to contain my own excitement. After all we've been waiting for this for a whole year now how could I not be excited? I showed him the contents of the bag and he seemed suprised "where did you get all this food" Out of my rations and considering were not coming back it's not much. "Yes, it is and you took it out of your rations are you okay?" he asked concerned. I told him I was fine and that it was a small price to pay for our freedom. I suppose he said still seemingly concerned.
"Anyways shouldn't the governor be getting here soon." He should be here now I said with a smirk and we both looked out his window sure enough there was a boat. We could also see a man walking out of it he appeared to be of normal build with very fancy clothing. After a bit of waiting, he left to the overweight pig's residence. Allowing us to run down to the boat it was fairly large with a dedicated kitchen and two bedrooms. Wow this is going to be our boat huh I said "I wouldn't say that" I heard from an unfamiliar voice when I went to look it was the governor. Not our dream! not our dream! I continually cried to myself I knew that both me and Alex were about to be hanged.
Alex grabbed one of the swords and ran out whispering "stay here and prepare the boat" was he planning to kill the governor? I thought either way I didn't have much choice so I quickly prepared the boat to sail and at about the same time Alex reached the end of the drawbridge. I yelled to him no need to go down it's ready to sail. That quickly? Thank the lords he yelled back. coming back onto the boat leading me to lower the drawbridge and begin to sail but as soon as I did I saw the governor had a revolver. Which he was pointing at Alex WATCH OUT! I screamed but it was too late Alex had been shot and killed. It was at this moment that I had a new dream, to overthrow the government.
