Chapter 29 - Strike Squad

After hearing everything clearly from the group and looking at Lirael's notes, Finnrod the guild reception supervisor, prepared a reward and sent an emergency request on behalf of the guild to Thad Mysticor, A-rank wind and fire mage and his strike squad the Blaze Reckoners.

....

They were quickly approaching the area close to Orcish Bladecave, the dungeon that supposedly evolved and had far more dangerous orcs than it was supposed to. This was the target of their emergency request, along with securing any survivors of the party that discovered this situation.

Once the group got close, Thad took flight using his wind magic to soar above the tree line.

'Over a kilometer of burned land? Impressive.'

He looked from where the flame had erupted, the small starting point of a focused triangle of outward destruction. He could see two bodies laying there, one looked to be a human and the other, a large pale skinned orc with a blood covered and disfigured face. Thad had seen plenty of violence in his days and this did not faze him at all, although a tiny frown was seen on his face as he hated when young adventurers were lost like this.

Flying down from the sky, Thad looked to his squad. "Looks like we have a causality, and a foreign looking orc."

One of the girls carrying a large battle axe, a dwarven woman with pink hair and a crazy looking smile. She was not matching the size of her weapon at all "Let's go see, I wanna see the new type of orcs!"

"MiMi can't you have a least a bit of respect for the fallen mage before you think of battle." an aloof man with short blond hair and flowing robes spoke to her.

"Yaa, yaa, woopsy. Thad let's check on the kid... and thennnn can we goooo, please." MiMi looked at Thad their squad leader with eyes longing for violence.

"Yeah, Why don't we take a closer look before we head for the dungeon. It seemed like his aura was gone, but he could be in backlash. Best to check." Thad said looking down at the little battle maniac he was responsible for.

"Okkeeee"

.....

Niss heard sounds around him, crunching of the thin layer of snow before steps fell on the scorched ground near him. He was somewhat conscious drifting in an out, but he couldn't move at all. Nyx had insured he would not die but she could not really heal his injuries, as her power was all but gone after their contract.

"Holy heckin heck! He's still kickin!" MiMi shouted as she had approached the scene wanting to see the unknown orc.

'Huh... Who... Trevor? Siarra?' Niss thought as he groaned weakly, his eyes still closed.

"The boy or the orc?" one of the strike squad asked MiMi.

"The kid!" She responded.

'Who the hell are these people? Did the contract fail? Am I actually dead now?'

'No, Niss just rest. They are from the guild.'

'Okay, oh Nyx, you are still here.'

'Of course I am.'

The strike squad sent one of their seven members back to the capital to inform the guild they had one survivor and too get the boy to a healer as soon as they could. The strike squad had a healer of their own who had spent a minute making sure Niss was stable before forcing him to sleep but they needed to continue to the dungeon.

....

King Azrak the Ghostly POV:

Azrak had gone and scouted in the southern direction with another of his orcs to see if they would find a human settlement nearby, when he returned he did not see his scouts.

'They have still not returned?' He thought.

"You, have you seen Hangh and Hangha?"

"No my king, one of Hangh's spells was unleashed but the two never came back here, we were waiting for your command to investigate."

Azrak paused for awhile, 'Those two are some of my strongest orcs, they have supported me since before I became chief, they would not abandon me. Something must have happened, maybe they got carried away toying with some prey?'

"It shouldn't be anything too serious, take a few orcs with you and see if you can catch up with them. I imagine they are just goofing off after getting to this new world."

A smile spread across his face as he was sure of himself and his thoughts.

...

Thad POV:

Thad and MiMi were leading the group towards the dungeon, after sending off one of their members to bring Niss back to the capital the six of them continued with the guilds request.

"Were almost there now, shouldn't be too bad for us but keep yourselves at attention regardless. This was peak D-rank and it evolved, I would imagine the strongest these weird orcs could be is B-rank."

'Even though that dead one burned a kilometer of woods, he must have used an artifact. Its very unlikely they are at A-rank like us.'

"Oooohh! Orcs! Orcs!" MiMi shouted, jumping up and down with excitement. She grabbed her giant battle axe off her back and swung it back and forth a couple times to warm up her little body before getting a really serious look on her face.

"Thaddddd... Can I kill them now?"

"Yeah go crazy MiMi were right behind ya."

BOOM!

The ground where MiMi just stood exploded into dust as she zipped away towards the group of five orcs that had seemingly come to investigate their missing scouts.

"Hehehe! WHOOSH!!"

WHOOSH!!!!

Her massive dual sided battle axe swung through the air right at the ribcage of a pale orc.

THUnk....

'What the whaaa!? Eh!?' MiMi stood beside the orc, barely half his size, the head of her axe had slashed clean through one his arms but remained embedded less that half way through its chest.

MiMi had not had an encounter with any enemy that wasn't S-rank EVER that could not be slashed clean in half by her opening move.

"Eeeeeeeeeeeep!" MiMi was grabbed by her pink hair with the remaining hand of the large orc.

WHOOOOOOOM!!!!!

Sent flying in the sky, she was dumbfounded.

'Uhhmmm, S-ranks?' she thought as she crashed through several trees smashing them into sawdust before landing, kneeling she gripped her battle axe pushing it into the ground as she rose to her feet. 'This'll be fun!'

Thad saw MiMi fail to kill it one blow, pausing for a moment. 'She never messes around, she would have killed it if she could...'

"Were dealing with peak A-ranks or maybe even S-ranks, its hard to read their auras they seem like their magic really is foreign. Pair up, do not get separated, and if any of you are in danger then we all flee back to the guild immediately. No exceptions." Thad was a good leader of his strike group and they were pretty well known in the capital for clearing lots of A-Rank dungeons.

"I'm with MiMi the rest of you know what to do." He looked at them, "Let's go!"
