Chapter 31 - We Need To Talk

When I opened the door to my room I found a very flustered Bridget.

She was in a completely uncomfortable situation, looking at the floor and constantly moving her hands together.

"I apologize for not being presentable. To which I owe the visit of the heiress of the future Storm noble family." – I asked formally.

Bridget looked up, clearly guilty.

"Please don't treat me like that." – she requested.

I smiled at her signaling for her to speak.

"I can enter? I need to talk to you." – she said, letting her shoulders fall.

She was showing clear signs of defeat.

I made room for her to pass and closed the door after she entered.

Bridget sat on the bed across from me.

"Please, could you sit down?" – she asked.

I brought my hand to my face and rubbed my face, I didn't know what she had come here to do, I didn't want to get my hopes up.

I sat on my bed and rested my elbows on my knees as she held her hand in front of my mouth.

"Please, you can talk. I am at her disposal." – I said, still in my formal tone.

Bridget looked up at me.

"I know I made a mistake, please don't treat me like that." – she asked, becoming emotional.

"I'm just being formal with you, I'm not doing anything more than that." – I said taking a deep breath.

"Exactly, you're treating me like you don't know me." – she said nervously.

I shrugged and then straightened my spine.

"I know? We were close for a few months, but can we really say we know each other?" – I asked being frank.

She fell silent upon hearing my words, clearly suffering from conflict.

I didn't want to be an asshole, but she had made her decision. I don't usually deal well with people who reject me and come up to me to ask for something. This happened too many times for me to accept the situation with open arms.

Sometimes being as old as I am has its downsides, I've been through so many situations in life that nothing is really new to me and having to restart my life so many times has made me create my mode of action.

There are rare women who make me actively look for them.

In this life Bridget was the one I dedicated most to and in the end she decided to walk away.

She accepted my friendship.

I provided for her when she run from home.

I taught her my potions methods, helped her with her homework, gave her two Dans worth thousands of galleons so she would have a more solid foundation.

But in the end, even though she knew what my lifestyle was, she decided to back away completely after I slept with Gemma.

"I owe you respect because it is something I believe you deserve. Now can you please tell me what I can do for you?" – I said in a serious tone.

Bridget swallowed hearing my words.

"I messed up." – she said in a guilty tone.

I raised my eyebrows waiting for her to continue.

"I gave in to pressure from my roommates. I was upset when you slept with Gemma and they managed to get into my head." – she explained.

I tried to hide my laughter, but she could still see it.

"I know you were upset when I walked away, but it wasn't what I wanted." – she said uncomfortable.

I took a deep breath and cracked my neck.

"So what did you want?" – I asked.

She was clearly embarrassed.

"I wanted you to show that you cared about me." – she said.

This time I laughed openly.

"You know I don't work like that, you walking away was the answer to my proposal. I promised to protect you and that's what I'll do, but I'll also respect the decision you made." – I said, losing a little patience.

"Women don't work like that!" – she shouted.

I threw my hands in the air.

"You mean I should be actively trying to get you into bed?" – I asked indignantly.

She became agitated.

"Yes!" – she finally shouted.

"But you're not ready to sleep with me!" – I shouted back.

"I know!" – she replied.

"So should I do something you're not ready for?" – I asked, still agitated.

"Yes." – she said troubled.

"But you're not ready." – I argued against.

"I am not." – she agreed.

I rubbed my forehead stressed.

"You told me so much about yourself, showed me so many things and after that you didn't make any progress. I was confused." – she explained somewhat uncertainly.

I took a deep breath.

"Normally I take the girls to bed within a few days, but after I met you I ended up deciding that this decision should be yours. In the end I was right in my old ways." – I said so that she would understand what was happening.

Bridget blushed at that moment.

"I didn't ask to be treated differently." – she murmured.

"But you're still not ready to have a relationship with me." – I noticed.

She looked at the floor again.

"Relationships are not just about sex." – she argued.

"Do you want a relationship like what happens in this world?" – I asked, regaining some of my calm.

"Yes, I'm from this world, I can't think of a different relationship than the ones we have here." – she explained.

I took a deep breath.

She seemed to be calm at this point, our conversation had already progressed to the point where we didn't need to shout at each other.

"I am a cultivator with a soul that is almost a million years old. I have lived almost 100 lives. I was born, raised and fought in all of them, in all of them I got married multiple times and my home is in a world where there are people over a million years old. My oldest wife is older than me by a hundred thousand years. My time for classic romance has passed." – I explained to her.

"You don't need to throw it in my face that you're old. I don't know if you realize, but this is not a positive point for you." – she said laughing at me.

Ouch.

Another of the bad points, I'm old, no matter how old my body is.

"Where I come from, I was never considered old. To do this I would need to be over 10,000 years old, something I have never done due to my body not being able to bear it." – I replied, pretending to be offended.

"The civilization of this world is not 10 thousand years old." - she said.

I put my hand on my chest and grimaced.

Bridget laughed at me.

I got up from my bed and went to her and knelt down extending my hand.

It took her a while to understand what I wanted, but then she put her hand in mine.

"Bridget Mary Storm, will you be my girlfriend?" – I asked, looking deep into her eyes.

"Yes." – she replied.

I got up and pulled her from the bed, looked deep into her eyes and kissed her passionately.

The kiss lasted a few seconds.

"Is this enough for me to show that I care about you?" – I asked smiling.

"A little." – she replied jokingly.

"So I don't think I can let you go back to your room today." – I said teasingly.

She was frozen for a moment.

"Same thing that happened before we got on the train, I'm not going to force you to do anything." – I explained so she wouldn't think I was forcing her.

"Ok." – she replied blushing.

I took her to the bed and lay down, placing her on my chest.
