Instead of pulling him away like she intended, Audrey found herself dragging Damien closer. This kiss was different from the one he used in claiming her at the church. It was private and possessive, and she felt hot all over.
Although, Audrey hadn't kissed any other man, she could boldly announce her husband as the best kisser ever. She fisted her palm in his chest, savoring the taste of his lips on hers. She bit his lower lips, while she nested on his laps not wanting anything else to break the moment until she was suddenly jerked away from him. It was unexpected but it seemed to return her senses
Audrey blinked at her husband who wore no expression on his face, and she couldn't help but wondered if his heart was beating as fast as hers. She wondered what he was thinking and why had she gone ahead pulling him closer instead of shoving him away like she intended.
"Don't you go out there anymore; I'll bring you something to eat."
Damien left the carriage with his face red. He hadn't expected his wife to turn on him that way. It was unexpected and had left a bulging feeling in his pant. He had to stretch in front of the carriage before going in search for her food.
The preparation was almost done. He had hurried Audrey because he didn't want to miss part of the preparation but he hadn't expected his wife to leave the carriage after he left.
"Fancy seeing you, bro; I heard you are having a hard time holding your wife down. Maybe it's due to the fact that you stole someone else's bride." Alexandra smirked. He was fully adorned in his royal outfit, unlike Damien who wore his casual outfit.
He ignored him.
"I guess it's not easy to tame a wife like you did a cat."
He hated it when Zeus was mocked, but he ignored Alexandra. There was no benefit in getting into an argument with his brother. He was about to walk off when Alex held his arm, "I promise to steal back what you stole from me."
He left his arm and walked off, but before he could move forward, Damien dragged him back with a pinch that made the crown prince almost yelped for help, but he swallowed it up, "Don't you dare touch my wife."
Alexandra smirked, "She was supposed to be mine in the first place. I'm just taking back what's mine or should I say borrowing back what's mine." He removed his hand from Damien and left before he could reply to him.
Damien watched the back of his brother head as he joined the rest of the men preparing for war. Alex could act a saint to everyone, but he knew what sort of womanizer his brother was, and the last thing he would allow was him getting closer to his wife.
He sighed, proceeding to do what he wanted to in the first place.
When he got back to the carriage, he was surprised to see Audrey sitting gently in the carriage; he hadn't expected her to actually listen to him.
He thrust the food at her, and the surprise continued when she collected it without making complains.
"We'll be leaving anytime soon, and I suggest you don't do anything dangerous. Just listen to me and stay away from my brother."
With her mouth still full, she nodded, "Is that what will continue happening in this marriage? All you will do is tell me what to and what not to do?"
He ignored her and opened the window of the carriage. Outside everyone was already moving towards their respective means of transportation, and there were issuing out orders to the soldiers.
The kingdom hadn't experience war in a long time, so Audrey doubted anyone knows exactly what to do at the moment. She guessed everyone was just trying their best to safeguard the kingdom, and the last thing she would be was a nuisance. She was still very interested in running away but not when the kingdom was in trouble.
She looked at the man she was to spend the rest of her life with. He looked lost in thoughts and wasn't paying her any attention. Her gaze shifted to her hand. Would she be useful on this war or was she just a hindrance.
She had been married to the prince for a few days now, shouldn't she be seeing the symptoms of her magic power now, nor shouldn't it have bloom to his full potential now. It was a given, but hardly anything had changed about her.
She had never heard anything about her husband magical power, or didn't he have one. She felt her heart beat faster, was it possible for a royal not to have the magical powers. It was the one thing she had looked forward to in this dreadful marriage, not getting the powers made everything worst.
She stared at the man called her husband; he looked so peaceful staring at nothing in particular. And although Audrey was curious, there was no one to ask her questions. Her father had always been her source of information, but he was no longer her legal guardian and there was no other way to find out than asking the man in front of her.
So far, all he had done was display a gentleman's attitude. It might not be too difficult to ask him a question. Audrey cleared her throat, hoping to catch the prince's attention which she did. He finally averted his gaze from nothing, and back to her. She tried coming up with the best way to ask about the magical power, but she couldn't come up with one.
"Do you want to ask me something?"
She frowned, how did he know?
"It's written all over you face that you have questions for me. You can ask me."
She bit her lower lips, while the wheels in her head kept turning. Wouldn't it sound harsh to him if he didn't really have the powers?
"Stop doing that?"
She placed the plate down. She had finished eating but knew Damien wouldn't want her out of his sight, so she resulted to keeping the plate in the carriage. "Doing what?"
She bit her lower lips again.
"What you are doing?"
Damien gazed was on her lips. The more she bit it, the more he wanted to replace her teeth with hers. It would be lovely to kiss her again.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." She looked totally confused.
Damien nodded, and soon he was within her space; not that there was a lot of space between them in the first instance. His hand pulled her lips out of her teeth. "Stop biting your lips like that."
Audrey tried to reply, but with him within close range like he was, she could hardly come up with any words. She didn't nod either.
"Especially in front of other men, don't try biting your lips. You belong to me, and every part of you do." His hand traced her lips slowly now. "There will be punishment for disobeying me."
She wanted to ask what sort of punishment, but he kissed her again. He leaned into her, his hand holding her hair in place, and his other hand lying on her laps. He kissed the lower lips she had been biting. Audrey leaned into him. His hand moved slowly on her laps sending goose bumps trails all over her body.
If this was the punishment he was talking about, Audrey didn't mind it anyway. In fact, she loved it. She moaned into his mouth. And just like before, he suddenly pulled away from her.
Audrey pouted and blinked at him. He moved a bit backward and stared out of the window again. She felt annoyed. If he was going to continue pulling away from her, then he shouldn't have started this at all.
But when her gaze fell on the floor and saw the bulge in his pant, she gasped.
Scared, Damien turned to her. "What happened?" his tense had changed into something more fierce.
Audrey pointed at his bulge, "Something is wrong with you?"
He looked down, and sees his bulge, then looked back to his wife who seemed scared for him. It had been so long anyone had cared about him, not to talk about been scared for him. He smiled at her, "It's part of me."
Audrey looked fascinated with it, but she didn't say anything. Why haven't she seen it before if it was part of him.
He seemed to be able to read her mind again, "Don't worry, you'll get to see it soon."
She blushed, and finally looked away from him. Did she really want to see whatever that was? She wasn't certain.
Damien also looked outside, before turning to her again, "We're leaving now." She turned to look at him, and this time there was no expression on his face. He held her hand, "Remember you are the only family I have, and being part of the royal family is dangerous. Don't trust anyone out there except me, your husband. Don't eat what anyone gives you. Don't be out of my sight, and most importantly, don't go near my brother."
His gaze shifted to a look of concern and all Audrey could do was nod.
Damien sighed, "Thank you. If you are safe, I think I will be at ease."
Audrey didn't know what to say about his confession. It was strange that the man she loathed and wanted to run away from cared so much about her.
Soon she felt the carriage moved. She leaned on the carriage, her thought everywhere; she had always wanted to see the world, but she also had that strong desire to be a queen one day. Well, if her desire of being a queen won't come through, at least, that of seeing the world has more possibility now.
Her thought went to her parents. Do they still care about her? Or have they decided to abandon her because she had married the cursed prince.
The carriage galloped, sending her into the arm of her husband. It threw her on him, and he covered her body with his hand as if he was expecting that. For a moment, Audrey remained awkward in his hand. She didn't pull away and her brain didn't process the fact that she needed to sit on her own.
Damien didn't complain; he loved it when his hand was on her – in any way. He held her, and assisted her up. "I'm sorry I didn't warn you ahead."
Finally, she sat up, straightening her cloth. She cleared her throat, "What was that?"
Damien chuckled, "Those are bumps, it means we are getting far from the palace, towards the outskirt of the village. We're moving into the common man land."
Audrey opened the carriage window and glanced out. She had never been to the common man land. Her father had made sure she had no reason to step out of the noble's part of the kingdom. Her eyes bulge as she took in the surrounding. It was nothing like she had expected.
It was crowded. Everyone was gathered in a side to watch them pass; she could tell by the way the children were pointing at their carriage. She looked back to see more carriages behind theirs, while some were on horses, and some were following them on foot. Their mode of dressing fascinates her to – it was like seeing a lot of her servants in a single place.
Damien watched her in amusement. There was this look on her face which he wished he could keep forever. That look of innocence.
