Chapter 3 - Devil In Disguise

Felix tried to suppress the pain from her left leg. A bullet is still there and it hinders his movement as it pierced deeper to her flesh every time he moves.

"Check upstairs, the rest search each room. He can't run that far, he got a shot on his leg. Make sure not kill the man, we need him." Someone said behind the wall.

The armed men reach the living room. As they walk towards the alley Felix started to shoot them one at a time. Making sure to hit the weaker spot. He can't afford to waste shots when his bullets are limited. Indeed, he is a sharp shooter. Each shoot is straight to the heart. The rest of the men fired back. He can tell most of them are still amateurs.

"Hold your fire!" somebody shouted. Felix was alarmed he knew what will happened. Somebody just loaded a machine gun and he needed to stay away and take cover. He crawled as fast as he could towards the small stockroom. As soon as he opened the small door, he covered Marilyn down and the deafening sound of the machine gun started to ransack the walls of their house.

"What the fuck are you doing!" a deep voice came from the kitchen, he must their leader. "You caused a lot of attention!"

In a distance, a siren of police cars can be heard, fast approaching.

"Shit! Get the hell out of here! No time to carry the dead bodies, burn the house!"

All of these are so loud for Felix to hear. The police cars are getting closer so he decided to take Marilyn to the cellar. He's getting weaker still, he tried his best to keep up the pace to escape the house that started to get burn. Passing through a secret door behind the bushes at the back of the house they took their steps descending towards the cellar.

"Please hang on, we're almost there!" cried Marilyn as she assisted her husband going down the cellar.

However, in the Grand Mansion, Alejandro can see the distaste in the face of his cousin Fabio as he entered his grandfathers' room. Aside from his cousin, two bodyguards were present in the room as well as the family doctor.

"I wish to speak to my grandson, alone." Magnus commanded. The emphasis of the exclusivity is very evident to his tone that everyone didn't waste any minute and disappeared from the room. "Alejandro, how cruel can you be for coming home just now?" he said in a soft voice.

"Grandpa, calm down, I'm here now. Are you really sick?" he asked in a soft voice as well. The old man made a hand gesture that only Alejandro understand. He ordered him to push the button under his bed making sure that the movement isn't for the cameras in the room. The button distracts signals of possible wiretapping.

"I need to be." he said in his active voice that doesn't befit to an old man.

"What do you mean?"

"Someone is working behind our backs and I need to know the traitor. Of course, there has to be clear evidences." He answered in a serious tone. Though his voice doesn't compensate his movements. Alejandro can tell why. The room is full of closed-circuit television.

"Is the threat huge enough for you to cause all this drama?" he asked trying to get a more sensible answer from the old man.

"Yes, a city is at risk." he revealed. "It's another war for some, since war is business but how I hated it when children get to involve."

"Care to justify the details?" Alejandro asked, this time he find it a serious matter.

"Remember when I asked you about finding a cellar just like any other task I've been giving you?" asked his grandpa but he didn't answer. "That cellar holds centuries of secrets that can evoke war if it falls to the hands of wrong people. Some says it holds the history of Old English, others say it hold precious antiques, even invaluable treasures. But you know what, it holds a key to find a lost world. A history of a mythical city – the Atlantis. My great grandfather was a witness. He was there inside that cellar. When he was kidnapped as young as five. It's doors hides secrets of innovation way back early discovery."

"Is that the reason why you left that girl in the hands of that man?" Alejandro's suspicion was right. The cellar is a huge catch or else the old man wouldn't sacrifice his own granddaughter – his own flesh.

"I need to earn the trust of Felix Go in a despicable way. He can't just tell me where the cellar is. He would rather die than expose the secrets of their family just like his parents. That Harakiri, a ritual suicide, was passed down from their ancestors." The old man said in dismay. "The Cosa Mafia thought they can locate the cellar if they kidnap and raise Felix and his brother." The old man shook his head. "Well, it must be an evil thing if I say that I gained from the attack of your father's wife, because I did. Felix met his wife, Marilyn, who happened to save the baby of that dying woman and they eloped together. Isn't it fascinating?"

Alejandro was stunned. Everything has a purpose for this old man – very devious. "That was your daughter-in-law."

The old man glared at him. "Yes, but they married just because of the truce I had with Gregory Halt." Gregory was the Capo Famiglia of Cosa Mafia. "Unfortunately, his betrayal caused her daughter and my son to divorced. The worst thing was he sent his men to kill her when she's no use for him – his own flesh. Even my son did not escape, who happened to be reunited with your mother after his divorce" The old man massages his temple. Remembering the unfortunate event of his own son was even hard to bear.

Anyway, right now as we were talking, they are attacking the Go household. They will try to make Felix talk. How pathetic!" he laughed. "Auspiciously, everything goes according to my plan. So, go there personally and take the girl or else she will be taken by the Cosa Mafia. "

"What should I do with the girl? Do you think she knows that much about the secrets of the cellar? Aside from that, she's your only heir, remember?"

"Yeah, I almost forgot. Marry her." Alejandro's eyes widened hearing the old man as if telling a news, he just heard this morning. He was speechless! "What?" The old man responds to his accusing look." I want you as my heir, since you're not my biological grandson, you marry her." The old man laughed as if the command doesn't involve his own flesh.

"Well you don't mind if I take her to bed, do you?"

"That's a very good idea! You can secure the lineage of this family by producing an heir right away."

Hearing this gives him a headache. Alejandro is not ready yet for marriage. He wants his life in night clubs and one-night romance! The old man is impossible. Now, he has a lot of things to deal with.

"I can see that Fabio has been getting close to you recently. It adds to my suspicion. He had his father killed while vacationing in Hawaii. I had all the evidences."

"Save that for later, Alejandro. We can use that for a bigger cause. Henceforth, off you go! You are loaded with errands you need to accomplish. I'm thrilled which one you'll polish off first. Well, actually, you can take her to bed first so I can see my great grandson right away"

Alejandro closed his eyes trying to calm his nerves while the old man laughed.

"It seems I satisfied your years of longingness with just a couple of minutes talking here with you. I must go. I'm more excited to see how long can you sustain your performance it this silly-sick drama of yours." He said and Magnus throw him a pillow. "See? You can't even hold your temper." he chuckled and walk towards him to give him a slight hug. "Please be careful."

"Call me grandpa! You'll be my grandson soon. Marry her first!" Magnus said in command when he started to walk away.

Alejandro smiled and wave his hand before opening the huge door and step out of the room. He noticed Fabio leaning on the wall, waiting for him.

"I must say you were really his favorite." Fabio spoke walking towards him. "That must be very confidential that the old man intercepted the audio recorder." His sarcasm is showing obviously.

"I'm not in the position of giving someone details that aren't meant for them." He retaliates.

Fabio smile. A smile that is full of resentment and sarcasm. "Well, you better make sure that its for the betterment of this society. Or else.."

"Or else what?" Alejandro butt-in, as he went closer to Fabio" I know much more than you do. Nothing can threaten my existence in this family, even you. You're nothing." He whispered, emphasizing the last two words before walking away.

Fabio was left stunned, clinching his fist. When Alejandro was out of sight, he took his phone and dialed the number. "Riverside, two o'clock."
