Bee dragged the body from his leg, leaving a trail of blood, and pushed it farther into the garden. She disposed of the body by concealing it under the thick bushes . As she returned, she quickly began to remove the bloodstains.
Bee, who had not finished tidying up, was startled by hurried footsteps coming from nearby. A shiver ran down her spine. Her back was hunched as she moved cautiously through the bushes to hide her presence.
"Are you certain you heard something from here?" Bee overheard someone ask. She identified the owner as Fred, the mansion's chief guard, based on the sound of his voice.
"Yes. I have no doubts whatsoever that it was the voices of a man and a woman." The other person, whom Bee recognized as the gardener, retorted, "They spoke in hushed tones, I could not hear what was said."
It was late at night, and Bee wondered why the man was even awake. She wondered if he was there to plant or harvest.
