The next morning, Brenda walked along the corridors of their home looking for her sister. She was unable to locate Sonya in the room, and it appeared that she was also absent from the dining area.
As she walked to the waiting room, she noticed Jess and Harriet looking at their phones and talking quietly. Brenda deduced from their expressions that they were aware of the early morning scandal.
Vicky was the first to notice her, and she nudged her mother to look. Brenda stared at them, her face blank.
Jess stood up and approached her, "Did you see the news, Brenda? It is all over the internet, and people are making derogatory remarks about Sonya's character," she said with a fake concern.
Brenda did not respond; instead, she stood there looking at the door.
