"What makes you say that?" Sonya asked as she continued to walk. Jones smiled at her, a genuine one that moved her heart.
"I feel it," he said. "Did you see him on your way back? Because you look heartbroken.
"Hehe, how did you know that? Look at you. When did you become a love expert?" Sonya chuckled softly, her voice sounding like chirping birds.
"I love you, Sonya," Jones suddenly confessed. Sonya was stunned and stared blankly at him, but she kept her expression schooled. "I know you do not feel the same, but we can work it out," he continued. "I promise to make you the happiest woman after our marriage."
"I... I... do not know what to say," Sonya muttered, her heart tightening not because of Jones' confession, but because she could not reject him, even if she wanted to. He was a good man, and she would never want to hurt him.
