Hearing Benjamin Parker's words, Mrs. Hamilton walked briskly to the foyer, staring blankly at Amelia Clarke, unsure of how to react.
Amelia felt a burning rage in her chest.
There was fury she couldn't vent anywhere.
She had harbored doubts about Mrs. Hamilton before.
On the day of Old Madam Scott's banquet, she had found that man's behavior very strange, saying so many unpleasant things to infuriate her, obviously looking for trouble, waiting for Owen Moreland to come over, then he quickly admitted his mistakes, as if his mission was completed, eager to get away.
But when her suspicions were confirmed, she felt an unprecedented anger.
She was furious at Mrs. Hamilton's schemes, and even more furious at herself for being so easily manipulated.
"Mrs. Hamilton, I truly did not expect, your plan was so thorough, so thorough that it was... foolproof." The angrier she was, the colder her tone became.
Mrs. Hamilton moved her lips, but said nothing.
