When Cali enters the ICU, Mr. DelaRoy is awake from his afternoon slumber. He has been so for some time before she arrives. Over the past two weeks, he had seen a substantial improvement in his health. After briefly regaining consciousness, he would repeatedly go back into a coma and remain there for an extended time. After ultimately making it through that period, the physicians report that his condition is stable.
He is dozing off on the bed, his eyes wide open but expressionless.
