Chapter 11 - Dorm (2)

With Ai as his guide, Adam navigated the labyrinthine pathway toward his dorm room, his mind a turbulent mix of determination and anxiety.

Finding building number 77 of the dorm proved challenging. Its location seemed to change constantly, making it difficult for him to pinpoint.

Adam stumbled upon the entrance to building 77. While it didn't match the grandeur he expected, its simplicity held a unique, unassuming charm.

Upon entering, a group of unfamiliar creatures emerged, exuding an air of haughty disdain. One particularly belligerent figure, with brown hair, an imposing build, and striking golden eyes, stepped closer, sneering with a menacing glint.

"Look at the lost human! Seems his map-reading skills are as bad as his scent," one of them mocked, causing his friends to chuckle at Adam's expense, clearly enjoying the spectacle.

One particularly belligerent being stepped closer. "You seem like a prime target for our amusement," the creature sneered.

Adam winced at the words, his face flushing with a mix of embarrassment and anger. However, keeping his composure, he feigned nonchalance, disregarding the insults. "Let's just ignore them as they will be my trouble," Adam advised himself.

As his attempts to ignore them and continue toward his destination made them more enraged. "How dare trash like you ignore us!?" the creature said as he lunged forward menacingly, ready to pounce.

"What! Just give me a break, can't you leave me alone? " In a desperate effort to diffuse the looming confrontation, his mind raced for a quick excuse. "Think, Adam, think."

He swiftly concocted an absurd excuse. "I wouldn't want to spoil your moods with my, uh, smell," he retorted, hoping his ludicrous words would offer a diversion.

"Your scent?" the creature pondered, taken aback by Adam's odd proclamation.

"Absolutely! I mean, I do not want to present my lowly self with a disgusting smell," he flashed an awkward, friendly smile, hoping to diffuse the situation further. "Come on, play along."

"Ah, I see," the creature replied. "Hey, Jack! At least this trash knows his place, haha," someone from their group said with laughter. "You are right, we prideful werewolves can't bear human trash smell, and this trash is too smelly I can't hold back my urge to vomit on him," Jack, one with brown hair, who seemed to be their leader, said with an arrogant tone as he commanded others to move.

"Phew, they bought it, thank God!" Adam sighed with relief.

"Thanks for the 'smelly' tip, Dean," he quipped with a wry smile before hastily making his way into the building. According to Ai, the dorm had 7 floors, and his room was on floor 2. He found the stairs and ascended.

"At long last, I've found it," Adam exclaimed with a mix of relief and excitement as he reached 'room 7'.

Attempting to open the door, he discovered it was locked. "Where's the key?" Confused, he sought Ai's guidance.

"[To unlock the door, please touch your wristwatch with the handle of the door]," the robotic voice replied with an answer. Following Ai's advice, Adam unlocked the door, and eventually, at last, made his way into his room.

Stepping inside, he breathed deeply and surveyed the pleasantly surprising dorm. It was more than he anticipated—clean, spacious, and well-equipped, exuding an air of comfort. 'Finally, a place to unwind,' he thought to himself. Yet, as he was about to rest on the bed, he felt discomfort with his body as he sniffed around and found himself truly smelly. 'Haha, how could I forget to take a bath before sleep.' It seemed as if he recovered a piece of memory, recalling that taking a bath before sleep was a habit before his memory loss.

Rushing to the shower, eager to wash away the day's grime and discomfort from the unsettling encounter, as the cascading water washed over him, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and disbelief that he had finally found his sanctuary.

Exiting, catching a glimpse of his reflection in the mirror, Adam confronted the stark image of a wearied traveler, wet hair and eyes weary from the journey staring back. It was the first time since his memory was lost that he had seen himself, a moment that brought a surreal mix of familiarity and alienation.
