Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Section 005: Reliance (2)

Seeing the final product, Flossie Wright's brow furrowed slightly. All around her were eager recruits, nervously and expectantly waiting to see her performance. However, after receiving a cold, almost mocking glance from Flossie, they quickly averted their eyes, daring not to meet her gaze again.

"I'll do it myself." Flossie said casually, reaching for the lumpy blanket set aside. She quickly climbed onto her own bed, seeming intent on working in her own space.

Jocelyn Carrington, who had been attentively watching Flossie's every move, observed her coldly as she turned her back on them. The taunting smile on her lips intensified.

This time, she was curious to see how this maverick heiress, who had dropped such bold words, would fare in the end!

The deputy squad leader anxiously watched Flossie's movements from below, but couldn't discern her specific actions and could only sigh on the spot, thinking about how she would plead for Flossie later.

The rest of the recruits were pretending to be busy with their own things, but their sidelong glances were flying all around, constantly darting towards Flossie's bed. They were curious, anxious, watching eagerly, but none could hide their expectations for Flossie's first effort.

About ten minutes later, Flossie's blanket-folding process was nearing its end. However, before they could see the final product, Abram Phillips led a large crowd, once again coming to visit their dormitory.

What... what is this...?

Having seen the crowd flocking to the door, the deputy squad leader froze in surprise.

"Hello, Commander!"

The well-trained female soldiers, not yet understanding why this group had come, immediately stopped what they were doing, perfectly synchronized in their greeting of Abram.

"Good, good." Abram was casual, waving at them and pointing at the crowd behind him, "How is Flossie Wright's blanket? Everyone from the other squads heard the news and made a special trip to cheer you on."

"..."

Upon hearing such lofty words, and seeing the enthusiastic new recruits, the members of the second squad pulled a face in unison, responding with collective silence.

If this situation could be described as cheering, their commander's ability to tell blatant lies had reached unprecedented heights.

"Well..." the deputy squad leader hesitated, unsure of how to respond.

At this moment, a figure rushed in hurriedly, looking slightly panicked as she asked the soldiers in the dormitory, "What's going on? Why does Flossie have to run a hundred laps if she can't fold her blanket right on the first try?!"

The intruder was, of course, Janice Wood who had been tackling her steamed buns near the drill ground. Once she heard several recruits discussing Flossie's "heroics," she could no longer focus on her meal. She rushed up to the dormitory, got past the human barrier outside, and finally barged in gasping for breath.

At her words, everything clicked for the girls of the second squad.

No wonder so many people had come to watch the spectacle. It turned out that the news of Flossie's bet with Jocelyn had spread.

"It's done."

Before anyone could answer Janice's question, Flossie, who had been working on her bed and blanket, spoke up coldly.

The next moment, under everyone's gaze, she pressed her hand against the bed frame and nimbly launched herself off the bed. Her movement was so natural and swift, it made everyone's heart jump to their throats. And then, in the next instant, she landed gracefully.

Soon enough, before anyone could wonder at her agility, their attention was drawn to her bed amid various gasps of surprise.
